Sai Baba announces His Mission, and Why the Avatar has come. A written narration; This historical discourse was given on November 23, 1968. "Death is the denouement of the drama of life," wrote Prof. Kasturi in 1981. That denouncement came to him on August 14 at noon, a few minutes after Swami saw him in the Sathya Sai Hospital at Prasanthi Nilayam. He was 90. Bhagavan who was overseeing a students' rehearsal in the College Auditorium, abruptly stopped it at 11.30 a.m. and went straight to the Hospital. Reaching the bedside of Prof. Kasturi.

A Most moving event it was when Bhagawan with His Most Divine Voice called him: "Kasturi!". Prof. Kasturi opened his eyes for a moment and looked at the Lord. Bhagavan materialized vibhuti and placed it in Kasturi's mouth. Kasturi closed his eyes and a serene peace enveloped him. Swami told those at the bedside to do Namasmarana. An hour later his spirit merged in the Lotus Feet of the Lord. Streams of devotees paid their last respects to him at the hospital. The next morning his mortal remains were cremated on the bed of the Chitravathi river. For over forty years he rendered devoted service to Bhagavan as writer, editor, companion and tireless propagator

of Swami's life and message. Millions of devotees all over the world got acquainted with Bhagavan's life and teachings through the four volumes of "Sathyam Sivam Sundaram" (on the life of Bhagavan) and the 11 volumes of "Sathya Sai Speaks", besides the Vahini series. Prof. Kasturi was a witness to the innumerable miracles of Swami and he could bear authentic testimony to the glory and magnificence of the Avatar as few others could. He had traveled with Bhagawan all over India. Vivid accounts of his intimate experiences with Swami are given in his autobiography,

"Loving God," which was released by Swami on Christmas day in 1982. Kasturi continued to work right upto his last illness, giving of his best to "Sanathana Sarathi," which Swami launched in 1957 with Kasturi as Editor. After 1982 Kasturi brought out two books, one on the Lord's mother "Easwaramma," and the other on the essence of Swami's message in a book entitled "Prasanthi - Pathway to Peace". It could be truly said of Kasturi: "Of such is the Kingdom of

Heaven". ( It should be added that many many feel that there were only two occasions when the word "Grief" was shown on Bhagawan's Face in a most Physical Level was when the Great Shri.Kasturi merged with Swami and when The Great Sai Geetha Merged with the Lord most recently. It only shows the Great Devotion to Bhagawan they had and what Great Devotees can do to the Lord ) . Always at Bhagawan's Lotus Feet forever Serving the Lord on His Advent Day Always by The Lord's Side Riding along with the Lord The Closest with the Lord during the Divine Vibuthi Abhisekham Corrected by the Lord It is said that Bhagawan liked his Reading the Most, Swami says this even today. Bhagawan looks at His Own Potrait - 1967 Many of the people who were sitting around Swami in the above Photograph wanted a Photo with Swami very badly, Bhagawan kept saying a Strict "No" for some reason, After a lot of persuasion, Bhagawan told Kasturi to get up and take a Photograph, When Kasturi said "Ready, Swami", Bhagawan told him to wait and to everyone's sadness got up, When the people again started persuading, Bhagawan amazingly said "Photo Vasthundhi Ra " meaning "The Photo will Come", Everyone was sure it will, But with Swami?, Swami had got up. In those days when instant Photography was a distant dream, Swami called all the people concerned again after a Few weeks and showed them the Photograph... The above photograph. Kasturi told them the Chair was empty when he saw through the lens,

But Swami was there... everywhere. ALWAYS, ALWAYS WITH THE LORD FOREVER.
