Greetings Brijesh,
Bring a cup of milk just to a boil. Let it cool. In a blender,
blend four or five dates (which have been soaked overnight) with the
milk. Slice open a banana..drizzle with melted ghee. If digestion is strong,
incorporate urad dal into the diet.
Blessings,
David.

I tried all of these. The milk and dates is a treat - I added ground cardamom. I
am open to any weight gain suggestions.

Dear John

Good that you liked milk and dates along with cardamom.

Few more variations to this theme are described in Message No. 3197.

Please be reasonable in your expectations, since people who are
underweight belong mostly to Vata-pitta prakruti, and for such people
gaining weight is like climing Everest peak by stepping backwards
(Message no. 3470). To win against strong Vata and to gain weight to
some extent, Shivambu therapy has proven results. It balances weight.
Obesity is reduced and weight is increased if underweight. Growth,
the natural law, gets slowed down or excessive when Prakruti is given
by incompatible parents. Hereditary factors play a major role here.
Amongst various "Asadhya" or "incurable" diseases mentioned in
ayurvedic texts, most diseases driven by 'Vata' prakruti are in
forefront. The prakruti, however, can also be changed to some extent,
by advantageously exploiting it. Yoga, Prayer and meditation are the
tools to soften Vata. ONce the mind cools down, cardiac output going
to brain is reduced and same is diverted for other generative
functions. Mediation etc increases Kapha, thus diluting Vata and
building dhatus.

Few more ayurvedic medicines are described in message no. 1823. But
if you decide to take them, take carefully, stopping or halving the
dose at first sign of trouble:"burning in urine" or hot flash like
rashes on the skin.

Taking strong medicines or medicines based on poisonous herbs is
better done under the supervision of a neighbour hood healer.
Ayurveda also prescribes sweet made from the urad dhal and milk, as
advised by some members. But your environment, season also need to be
considered.

dear john
if your digestion, appetite and motion is fine you may try some herbal ayurvedic
formulations like NARSIMHHA rasayanam 1t.s.f. morning and evening with the milk
u are already taking. 2ndly u may take Indukantham ghritam 5 grams twice daily
for a month. of course prayer or meditation will potentiate the action
