Guest guest Report post Posted February 9, 2006 No, in this lila they do not share the same parents. They first meet when Nityananda Prabhu is 32 years old and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is 20.
Airicky 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 We have always fasted completely for half day; not the ekadasi style fasting as you say. I doubled checked with the temple and they said the half day fast is correct.
Guest guest Report post Posted February 10, 2006 Ekadasi fasting on Visnu Tattva appearance days is observed by the Gaudiya Math. This standard was followed by Srila Bhattisiddhanta Saraswati Prabhuapda.
Guest guest Report post Posted February 10, 2006 I noticed that during the period of 1977 until the early 1980's some North American ISKCON temples followed an Ekadasi-like fast on appearence days such as Nityananda Prabhu's appearence day. Of course this meant no grains or beans for the feast. Many years later a godbrother told me that Srila Prabhupada had him send the temples a letter instituting this policy in 1977. Evidently the letter was lost.
