Muslims emphatically insist that the Jihad, or Holy War, was only a means of defence and was never used as an offensive act. This is underlined in the explanatory notes of the Sahih Muslim:

 

 

"Jihad in Islam is not an act of violence directed indiscriminately against the non-Muslims; it is the name given to an all-round struggle which a Muslim should launch against evil in whatever form or shape it appears. Fighting in the way of Allah is only one aspect of Jihad. Even this in Islam is not an act of mad brutality....It has MATERIAL and MORAL functions, i.e. self-preservation and the preservation of the moral order in the world." ("Sahih Muslim, III, page 938 - explanatory note).

"The sword has not been used recklessly by the Muslims; it has been wielded purely with humane feelings in the wider interest of humanity" (ibid. page 941 - also explanatory note).

Let us investigate how this claim is supported by the actual facts of history.

 

 

"Jihad is one of the chief meritorious acts in the eye of Islam -- and it is the best source of earnings, but it shall be undertaken with the intention of self-defence.Mishkat" II, page 340 - explanatory note).

One could also call it robbery in self-defence, if there is such a thing.

 

 

"The Holy Quran strictly prohibited conversion by force, saying:

'There is no compulsion in religion' (Sura 2:256)" (ibid).

This is reasonable - though one would, perhaps, object to war as a means of income. This income, no doubt, is at the expense of someone's livelihood. But let us look at Muslim warfare in practice:

 

 

"When an infidel's country is conquered (in self-defence?) by a Muslim ruler, its inhabitants are offered three alternatives:

 

The reception of Islam, in which case the conquered became enfranchised citizens of the Muslim state;

The payment of a poll-tax (Jazyah) by which unbelievers in Islam obtained "protection" and become Zimmis, provided they were not idolaters (of Arabia);

Death by the sword to those who would not pay the poll-tax. ("Dictionary of Islam", page 243).

 

"....Kill those who join other gods with Allah wherever you find them; besiege them, seize them, lay in wait for them with every kind of ambush...."(Sura 9:5).

 

"When you encounter the unbelievers, strike off their heads, until ye have made a great slaughter among them...."(Sura 47:4).

 

"....Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given as believe not in Allah, or in the Last Day, and who forbid not what Allah and His Apostle have forbidden....until they pay tribute..." (Sura 9:29).

 

"Say to the infidels: If they desist, what is now past shall be forgiven them; but if they return, they have already before them the doom of the ancients! Fight then against them till strife be at an end, and the religion be all of it Allah's." (Sura 8:39).

 

"Proclaim a grievious penalty to those who reject faith." (Sura 9:3).

 

All of the above texts are contradicted by:

 

 

"There is no compulsion in religion".

From the Hadayah (II, page 140) we learn with regard to the Jihad, that:

 

 

"To whichever village you go and settle therein, there is your share therein, and whichever village disobeys Allah and His Messenger, its one-fifth is for Allah and His Messenger and the remainder is for you." ("Mishkat" II, page 412).

"In the actual war-field in the midst of hostilities, some concessions were sometimes given to soldiers for recreation. Captive virgin girls in war were once made lawful for the soldiers for copulation. "(ibid. page 440 and "Sahih Muslim" II, pages 705-707).

 

What is right today cannot be wrong tomorrow, otherwise we have an example of situational ethics.

 

To an objective observer the following picture emerges: interest in material gain was as important as the making of converts One cannot help feeling that the Holy War was a pretence to make booty and receive continuing taxes. This must have persuaded many a man to join the Holy War and thus to become a mercenary. This interest no doubt gave enormous political and military momentum to the cause of Mohammed. Each warrior had a right to the belongings of the man he had slain, and could sell for ransom any prisoner he had made. Women and children were also reckoned as booty and a Muslim saw no moral irregularity in taking married woman prisoners as concubines as long as they were not pregnant. He would also have his share of the combined booty, of which; however, one-fifth belonged to Mohammed (and in the case of no fight taking place, it belonged to him totally). We are aware, however, that Mohammed never lived an extravagant life or hoarded goods. On the contrary, he was most generous in every aspect, particularly to the poor, to orphans and to widows.

 

Taxes could be very harsh indeed as in the case of the defeated Jews who lived in Khaiber. They

 

 

"were allowed to stay in Khaiber on condition that they would pay half the produce of their lands to the Holy Prophet and in addition Jazyah tax". ("Mishkat" II, page 455, footnote).

"After the Battle of Badr, the verse dealing with the booties was first revealed. The verse introduced the rule for the first time that the spoils of war would be the property of the soldiers who actually take part in the battle...THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS why the soldiers of Islam fought tooth and nail. They would get Paradise in case of death in a Holy War, and booties in the case of CONQUEST. Jihad is therefore the best source of all acquisitions." ("Mishkat" II, page 406, explanatory note).

 

Jihad "is the best method of earning both spiritual and temporal. If victory is won, there is enormous booty and (sic) CONQUEST of a country, which cannot be equal to any other source of earnings." (ibid. page 253, explanatory note).

 

"In the battle of Muraisi with Banu Mustalig, the booties gained were nearly 200 camels and 5 000 goats. In the campaign of Hunain, the booties that fell to the hands of the Muslims were 24 000 sheep, 4 000 silver coins and innumerable camels. In the Battle of Badr and Uhud, the booties were also great." (ibid. page 406).

Those who wander from the way of Allah will have an awful doom. 26

Woe unto the idolaters who disbelieve in the Hereafter. 6

Allah will make life miserable for those who deny his revelations and then he will torment them forever in the Hereafter. And they will not be helped. 15-16

The enemies of Allah will be gathered into the Fire where their skin, ears, and eyes will testify against them. 19-20

Allah will make those who disbelieve taste an awful doom. Their immortal home will be the Fire, since they denied Allah's revelations. 27-28

"We shall prevail and they shall not," was the reassuring statement read by the shaken British Prime Minster Tony Blair, flanked by fellow G-8 leaders in response to four terrorist attacks against civilians in London today, July 7, 2005, that killed at least 40 people and injured 700. Among them, at least 45 are in serious or critical condition, including amputations, fractures and burns. These are only preliminary numbers. The count of casualties will certainly rise.

 

Blair added: "Whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and in other civilized nations throughout the world,"

 

That is a heartening promise and it this time that the Great Britain is hit by the worst attack since Hitler, it is most welcomed. But is there any substance to it, or is it just a pep talk?

 

Unfortunately the promise that we shall prevail is an empty promise. The question is how we can prevail when we are not even fighting against the enemy? Billions of dollars are being spent and wars are being waged yet the enemy is not even identified let alone targeted. If anyone thinks the war against Islamic terrorism can be won the way our politicians are waging it, he is deluding himself. We are fighting this war defensively. No war was ever won fighting it defensively.

 

Even that is an overstatement. The truth is we are just sitting ducks for the terrorists to hit us at anytime they want. The truth is that we are helpless. Each one of us can become the target of some sort of terrorist attack and there is nothing we can do about it. We are like frogs with a snake in the pond. As long as the snake is loose, anyone of us can be hit at anytime and all the assurances and hazard alerts have no other value than making us feel better.

 

To fight this war, first we have to identify snake. The snake is an ideology. It is an ideology that promotes hate and incites violence. This ideology is called Islam.

 

One commuter evacuated from a subway train at King’s Cross station reported: “It was chaos. The one haunting image was someone whose face was totally black and pouring with blood."

 

A doctor rushing to the scene of one of the blasts said: “The front of BMA house was completely splattered with blood and not much of the bus was left,”

 

A surviving passenger who was sitting in front of the bus that exploded killing ten people, said: " The roof flew off and went up about 10 meters (30 feet). It then floated back down," he said. "There were obviously people badly injured. A parking attendant said he thought a piece of human flesh had landed on his arm."

 

As the city's transportation system ground to a near-halt, buses were used as ambulances and an emergency medical station was set up at a hotel. Rescue workers, police and ordinary citizens streamed into the streets to help.

 

The Associated Press writer Jane Wardell wrote: "Some central London streets emptied of traffic. Groups of commuters who had been on their way to work gathered around corner shops with televisions, watching in silence. The mood was somber and subdued".

 

This is all in accordance with the teachings of Islam. Muhammad ordered his followers to instill terror in the hearts of those who did not believe in him (8:12). He exhorted them to fight against unbelievers (8:65), slay them (9:5), Punish them by their hands (9:14), and subdue them (9:29) .

 

This is exactly what is happening. The terrorists are not a misguided Muslims. They are the real Muslims doing what their prophet instructed them to do.

 

Not all Muslims are terrorists. But the fact is that the Islamic terrorists hide among the Muslims, who in turn either protect them or are sympathetic to their cause. Islamic community is the breeding ground of Islamic terrorism. We can’t find the terrorists to eliminate them before they strike, but we can eliminate their breading ground.

 

Leaving the summit of G-8 behind and returning to London , Mr. Blair said he knew most Muslims worldwide "deplore this act of terrorism."

 

This could be true. But what good it makes when they support the ideology of terrorism at the same time? These Muslims who deplore acts of terrorism must ask themselves why they support Islam that advocates terrorism. There is an inconsistency between what they profess (their faith) and what they proclaim (their word).

 

More terrorist attacks will occur. More people will die and if we do nothing, Islamic terrorists will eventually win. Islam has won through terrorism ever since it began. Islam may not win to become the world religion, but it will win burning the world into ashes and for Islam that would be a victory.

 

There is only one way to fight Islamic terrorism and that is to fight Islam itself. Islam IS terrorism. All we have to do is read the Quran and familiarize ourselves with the life of its author to see this fact. In the Quran, the incitement to kill and to instill terror is spelled out in clear language in hundreds of verses.

 

The first step that we have to take is to identify the supporters of Islamic terrorism, those who hate the West and kick them out. It is not difficult to identify these goons. They are very vocal on the Internet spewing their venom against the West. They can be easily identified and thrown out. Mosques must be shut down and mosque goers should also be kicked out. Mosques are not places of worship as churches, synagogues and other temples are. The only deity worshiped there is Allah the god of death and bloodshed. Ayatollah Komeini said, "Mehraab (the main hall of the mosque) means the place from which war (harb) proceeds". If they hate the West this much, why they should be allowed to live here? The terrorists are them. We should not wait until they strike, but rather kick them out for the very fact that they do not like us and our way of life.

 

The second step is to launch a massive ideological war against Islam. It is Islam that is inciting hate and is goading Muslims to become terrorists. How can we overlook this clear connection? Ironically, the British . is debating a law to declare criticism of Islam, "incitement to religious hatred" and make it a crime. This is insanity. How can we fight our enemy and protect it at the same time? In Italy, Oriana Fallaci the author of the best selling book "La Forza della Ragione" is sued for denouncing Islam. Amazingly the Italian Judge, Armando Grasso, of the city of Bergamo, instead of throwing out the suit has ordered Fallaci to stand trial. Islam must not be protected by passing laws making illegal its criticism. On the contrary, Muslims must be forced to justify their terrorist faith and prove that it merits the status of religion. Do we give the hate spewing Creativity Movement the status of religion just because its followers claim it is? Would anyone in his right mind ban the criticism of cults such as the Satanism, Branch Davidian or the Solar temple or even the cult of Charles Manson? Why in a country that even the criticism of Christianity is not banned, the criticism of a dangerous cult such as Islam must be outlawed?

 

More lives have been lost today and more will be lost in future but those who want to remain politically correct and the appeasers are not going to wake up. They will continue defending Islam, the very doctrine that calls for their heads. They will continue fighting for the right of Muslims to believe and promote their ideology of hate. It seems the non-Muslims are on a suicidal course.

 

One day, when they have had enough of it, perhaps after hundreds of terrorist attacks have left virtually everyone mourning for the loss of a loved one, or perhaps when a few atomic bombs have been blasted in their countries and a few million of them are incinerated; when their economies are totally destroyed and their cities have become wastelands, the Westerners will rise and slaughter their Muslim neighbors. Under pressure insanity prevails. The inability of the governments and the unwillingness of the public to denounce Islam as evil and ban it, will inevitably strengthen fascism, racism and vigilantism. White supremacists will find a receptive audience and in the name of saving their countries from foreigners they will launch their genocidal campaign against non-Whites. The silent masses will remain ever more silent. Tired of incessant Islamic terrorism and wary of their governments' inability to deal with the threat of Islam, they will receive the fascists as their saviors and will rely on them to cleanse their countries from Muslim immigrants and non-Whites. Fascism could come back with vengeance and everyone would lose their freedom. Yet many would welcome it because the threat of Islam seems to be far more greater than the home grown fascism.

 

Why take the route of insanity when we still have time to eliminate our enemy by words alone? And yet the British . wants to suffocate even this word. This law would only make fascism to come back as it would be the only alternative. We can’t win Islamic terrorism unless we demolish its ideology. Islam must be demolished or more lives will be lost, more body parts will fly in the air and more innocent blood will dye the streets.

 

At the end Islam will lose; but at what cost? The longer we wait, the heavier will be the price to pay.

 

Instead of passing foolish laws banning criticism of Islam, Islam must be discussed freely in schools, universities and in the mainstream media. Public debates must take place between the proponents and the opponents of Islam so the hidden facts about Islam come to surface. Muslims living among us must be brought to accountability. They must either leave Islam or forced to leave non-Muslim countries. Islam is terrorism. It must be banned.

 

We are not talking about religious persecution. Islam is not a personal religion. It is a fascistic anti human ideology with a very temporal goal in the guise of religion and promises of afterlife. It is an ideology that wants to instill terror, to destroy democracies, take away our freedoms and dominate the world. Like Nazism and communism, Islam harbors ambition of world of domination and yet demands protection under religious status. We must not tolerate this ideology of hate masked as religion. It must be destroyed and its proponents must be kicked out. If Islam wants to conquer the world it is political, and criticizing it cannot be classified and "incitement to religious hatred".

 

If we do the same that we were doing, we will reap the same that we have been reaping. More lives will be lost and despite Mr. Blair's assurances, we shall not prevail. In fact we will lose and that means the end of the world as we know it. It is not good to lose hope but false hopes can be just as deadly.

Thanks for ur suggestion. U know it very well that I would never dare to raise a question this fickle to a man whos is very Knowledgeable, a man who has given me confidence with knowledge.

I would rather sit with him and discuss the feasibility of a software that could remove hatred for mankind from heart and mind of people. To the very least , I would sit with with my peace loving professor and develop some software that would educate poor people for free.This way I will justify my existance as a Hindu and as a vaishnavite in particular.

If we start digging the whole world every where you will start finding temples remains.

 

I have a serious doubt about TajMahal I think that might have been built upon atemple. What about Afganistan Khandhar was Ghandhar Ghandharis birth place so if we go and start digging up there we will find only our temples.

The whole Ramji Mandir issue is far from Bhakthi, Dharma and Vaishnavism. This issue was started centuries ago by extreme muslims who in their vain attempts tried to conqure the sathya sanathan vedic dharma. They inflicted volience and terror on our ancestors, however today we should not take up as extremism which is islam is diseased by. Building a mandir for Sri Ram is Bhajan, it should be done in the mood of bhakthi and shanti (peace), we have seen that the proponents of the Ram mandir project are political organisations such as the VHP and RSS. Since fundamentalist Hindus set foot on babri masjid in 1992, innocent lives have been lost, so much hate has been spread. Here in the west midlands in england muslims set my local mandir on fire 2 days after the babri mosque was destroyed. So tell me my vedic brothers and sisters, is this the proper process build Ram Mandir in the Holy Dhama or Ayodya???? Is this Bhajan and dharma????? The scriptures adovate voilence for the sake of dharma, but that is under strict regulation, wars for the sake of dharma are fought when all peaceful paths fail and occur between Kshatriya men in battlefeilds far from innocent people.. Over the past decade so many women and children have been killed in Roits and bombs in Bombay, Ghodra etc.. i feel angered at what the muslims did to our ancestores and to our temples, but we should channel our anger in the most dharmic and peaceful way.. why dont we all gather on the banks of the yamuna and clean the waters form pollution...why dont we gather tree saplings from every indian village to re-plant the defrosted woods and groves in vrindavan..

The Koran is the constitution, hence it is forbidden to practise, even in private, any religion other than Islam. The legal system is governed by the Sharia, the source of the law. The government maintains that it represents the only possible position to safeguard the two most sacred places of Islam, and it prohibits the public and private practice of other religions. Any person who wears any (non-Muslim) religious symbol runs the risk of coming up against the Muhtawwa’in, the religious police. There are serious risks even for foreigners, who are victims of violence on the part of the police and of fanatics. Non-Muslim workers are subject to arrest, deportation and imprisonment if they are caught engaging in any kind of religious practice that might attract official disapproval. According to the theological interpretation of the dominant Wahabi school, the soil of the Arabian peninsula is the country of the prophet Mohammed, the most holy of territories, where it is not even possible to permit the exercise of the tolerated religions of the Book, Judaism and Christianity.

 

According to a report by Lucia Avallone ("Quando l’Islam non è tollerante" [When Islam is not tolerant], article in Islam oggi No.10, May 15 1994), it seems clear that all forms of worship other than Sunni Islam are forbidden. Many people have been arrested simply for having expressed their religious faith. Even the legal structure of the Islamic state is based directly on the Koran. In the tribunals there are no juries, and everything depends on one magistrate or, in cases of capital punishment, on three judges. The political trials take place in secret and without defence advocates (cf. the case of the death sentence on 16 Kuwaiti pilgrims accused of a terrorist attack on Mecca, who were given no opportunity to defend themselves and who made confessions under torture). The most serious penalties vary from flogging, to amputation of a limb, to public beheading. A Shiite Muslim was condemned to death on a series of charges, ranging from trading in Bibles to throwing stones at the police. There are numerous attempts at forced conversion in exchange for favours or freedom. The discrimination comes not only from the forces of the State but also from the cultural world; school books all toe the official line and the use of any other texts is prohibited.

 

The Fides press agency reported on July 10 1998 that four Filipinos and a Dutchman had been arrested for possessing and distributing Bibles, while at Riyad the police were continuing to search the homes of Filipino Christians in a climate of heavy religious repression. One of the Filipinos was released because under torture a confession was extorted from him of a crime he did not commit, namely homosexuality. According to Amnesty International, 12 Christians held in prison in Riyad on accusations of possession of Bibles and of preaching the Christian Faith were released and immediately expelled from the country.

 

The President of the Vatican commission for refugees and migrants, who is also chairman of the Filipino bishops’ conference, Monsignor Ramon Arguelles, has issued a press statement with the names of 30 Filipinos in prison in Saudi Arabia. Some of these were released and have now disappeared. A further eight Filipinos and the Dutchman have been released; one of them has spoken about the tortures inflicted on the prisoners.

 

There are around six million foreign workers in Saudi Arabia, of whom some 10 per cent, or 600,000, are Christians. 400,000 of these are Filipinos. They are not even permitted to celebrate Christmas, but at the same time they must observe Ramadan. The Filipinos are the most at risk because they come from a Third World country, as do the Koreans and Indians. From 1992 onwards, according to Reuters, there have been an estimated 360 cases of expatriate Christians being arrested for having taken part in evening prayer meetings in private homes. Christian religious, if identified as such, are refused entry into the country. At the most important festivals of the Christian calendar, Christmas and Easter, the religious police intensify their activities. Western Christians who are surprised, are subject to arrest and expulsion. For those of the Third World there is frequent surveillance, pressure through physical and psychological torture and forcible conversion or re-conversion to Islam. Christians who refuse to renounce their faith are condemned to death and executed on the pretext of having broken the law.

 

This blinkered attitude at times touches on the absurd. In 1979, when the Muslims requested the intervention of a special French unit into the Kaaba, against a group of Islamic fundamentalists who were opposed to the government, the soldiers of the intervention force of the French national police (GIGN - Groupe d'intervention de la Gendarmerie nationale) were obliged to undergo a rapid ceremony of conversion to Islam. Even the Red Cross was obliged, during the course of the Gulf war, to drive around without the symbol of the Cross and not to display its banner. Saudi Arabia considers itself the custodian of Islamic purity. It is for this reason that the symbols of other religions, especially of Christianity, are forbidden - crosses, Bibles and rosaries included - and many foreign citizens end up in prison accused by the authorities of engaging in religious propaganda. Blatant pressure is exerted upon them, even in the workplace, with the promise of career advancement. The Christian religious presence in the country is practically nil, and the four priests who belong to the apostolic vicariate of Arabia, based in Abu Dhabi, serve only the embassy staff. The repression of the Catholic Faith thus goes hand in hand with that of human rights, and there are numerous outrages committed against the Filipino citizens. The most notorious is that of Donnie Lama, a Catholic held in prison for 18 months from October 5, 1995 until his release on March 29 1997 with an expulsion order to the Philippines, thanks to the intervention of international organisations - but only after having received 70 lashes. The accusations directed against him related to his secret participation at a Eucharistic service in 1984. Others who followed him were not as fortunate; Ruel Janda and Arnel Beltran, who were accused of theft as a pretext, were both beheaded. On the occasion of this tragedy the human rights organisation Christian Solidarity made an appeal to the government of Saudi Arabia to desist from its persecution of Christians and to undertake to respect religious freedom, but they have never gone beyond declarations of principle. Currently it appears that there are eight Filipino citizens in prison, though another list speaks of 14 people and yet another of 30. The death penalty, which is applicable to sexual violence, is not applied to Muslims who rape Filipino women. An appeal has been launched by the government in Manila to persuade those who wish to go abroad in search of work not to go to Arabia, but the Filipinos do not seem to have sufficient authority to prevent these abuses of its citizens.

 

There is a series of organisations which run checks on the working contracts in the Arab countries, but it is not enough because so many immigrants end up in prison without the authorities coming to hear of it. A Filipino woman who has just given birth and whose husband has fled arrest is being forced by the government to remain in her home without being allowed to communicate by telephone. The Church in the Philippines, in its messages to the Catholic faithful, is insisting that the dollars which come from the richest country in the world are most certainly not worth the loss of the cultural and spiritual identity of a people.

 

The arrests and the expulsions for "blasphemous activities" are also continuing with the objective of intimidating all who remain in the country. Christian Solidarity Worldwide in its issue of November 4 1998, reports that on October 18 the Filipino Christian, Pen Ronquillo, was imprisoned after having been forced to sign three documents, written in Arabic, which contained a declaration of renunciation of any further sums due from his employer and an inventory of his personal property. Transferred the following day to a cell of 10 metres by 15, together with another 60 prisoners, he was forced to sleep on the floor without blankets, even though he was not tortured or interrogated. On the 20th of the month he was taken to the airport and put on a plane to Manila. According to the Religious Liberty Prayer List of the World Evangelical Fellowship, at least another six Filipinos have been forced to undergo a similar form of deportation, while a further seven are awaiting the same fate in the near future. It is true, however, that these extreme measures are often substituted by pressure exercised by their employers to force them to end their contracts of employment before the agreed time, by accusing them of "creating problems".
