Hare Krishna Mr. Guest (Jk),

Krishna is described by Brahma as:

Ishvara Paramah Krishna,

Sachchidaananda Vigrahah,

Anaadir Aadir Govindah,

Sarva Kaarana Kaaranam [brahma Samhita 5.1]

"Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and has the form of Truth, Knowledge and Bliss. He has no begining, but he's the begining of everything and Krishna is the cause of all causes."

Arjuna also addresses Krishna as:

Param Brahma Param Dhaama,

Pavitram Paramam Bhavaan,

Purusham Shaashvatam Divyam,

Aadi Devam Ajam Vibhum.

"Krishna is the Supreme Brahman, Supreme Abode, Pure, Transcendental, The original/first God, Unborn and Greatest of All"

Regarding your question as is Krishna rasna? Yes, Krishna is rasna as well. As Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita:

Rasoham Apsu Kaunteya,

Prabhaasmi Shashi Suryayoh...

Krishna says: "I am the taste in water (for that matter any liquid) and the light of the sun and the moon... And so on.. This is the impersonal way of realising the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Hope this clarifies your doubt.

But, finally Krishna can only be known when Krishna will reveal himself. And that is possible only by "Sevonmukhe hi Jihvaadau" by serving Krishna with senses starting from the tongue - by chanting HARE KRISHNA, HARE KRISHNA, KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE. HARE RAMA, HARE RAMA, RAMA RAMA, HARE HARE and tasting Krishna prasadam - The remnants of the food tasted by Krishna.

Hope this helps...

Hare Krishna!

Is love, is bliss, is happiness, is hope, is kind, is father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, life, death....

You can go on like this forever, starting from the prokaryotic bacteria to Vaikunta planets and Goloka if you are considering living matter. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

But if you are not just considering living matter you can start from the atomic structures... leptons, baryons... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

the krishna word does not give correct pronounciation of original sanskrit word for krishna.

krsna word is close but still may not provide correct pronounciation.

one has to hear correct pronounciation of the word from a vedic person from india.

the sanskrit (devanagari script) has 12 vowels and 36 consonents. with that one can write almost any name sound.

because of this reason, no one asks other how to spell a name in india. whatever you speak, one can write it in devanagari script, and any reader would pronounce the same.

is not that amazing?

sanskrit is known as teh language of devas.

and the modern computer programmers love it becauser

you can prograam it very easily. it is so mathematical or methodical and beautiful.

if you learn sanskrit, please also learn how to pronounce words correctly.

jai sri krishna!

Yes, why not Vishnu consciousness? Go ahead. No problem. Everyone has a particular mood that they may feel most attracted to.

We should not think God is so small that He can't accomodate a full variety of individual tastes in loving Him.

There is oneness in variety and variety in oneness.

And why only America! or Britain! Why should I be brought up here and made to listen to Bhagavatham and the rest of the scriptures!

Why should they have been taught in India in the past?! Why shouldn't I go to Angor Wat and try to look for a spiritually enlightened person there?!

How come?! God is prejudiced ... take care. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

but to say that only someone from India can pronounce Krsna's name correctly is ludicrous! That would mean that all the Western devotees that are being trained up in the temples here are pronouncing Krsna's name incorrectly. Give me a break!!!

This is just one of Madhav's many underhanded jabs at anyone who is not Indian "hindu".

Hare Krishna

Please see this site <font color="red"> ALL </font color> , it tells you how to pronounce the Maha-Mantra more affectively, esp. Krsna it sort of like... Krish arra (but same as Krsna) ..

it takes a bit of practice, but if you carefully hear Srila Prabhupada chanting Japa, you will find he does exactly the same pronunciation,

Japa

The best way to listen is to right-click/save - the files to hard-disk, otherwise the files seem to slow-down some what..

Why should we worry if Krishna is not pronounced the right way?

Krishna is everything, he is Krishna, krsna, Rama, Ragurama, Jesus , Allah... he is in everything , then why do we bother about the correct pronounciation and that too in sanskrit?

Sorry, I am naive/stupid, but can't we just call "Krishna help me in serving you" or something like that, or the literal translation of the Hare krishna mantra...

Is it ok if we chant his name that way and just think about him rather than trying to achieve perfection in some dead language?

Actually, it is a good question. If there are no hard and fast rules to chanting then what does it matter if one has a perfect - as Madhav would say "Vedic pronounciation" or a western one? And what would it matter if you learn the maha-mantra from someone with white skin, brown skin, black skin or purple skin? If it does matter to someone then they have a severe case of skin disease and in dire need of the medicine of cure - the maha-mantra!!!

Hare Krishna

Why should we worry if Krishna is not pronounced the right way?

Well, the least you can do is try to, make an effort, I mean it dosen't matter at first how you chant, but later on you can try to at least pronounce better (don't be so lazy!)

Krishna is everything, he is Krishna, krsna, Rama, Ragurama, Jesus , Allah... he is in everything , then why do we bother about the correct pronounciation and that too in sanskrit?

Correct pronounciation can make your mind more focused on the Holy name, (don't be so lazy!)

Sorry, I am naive/stupid, but can't we just call "Krishna help me in serving you" or something like that, or the literal translation of the Hare krishna mantra...

Lord Caitanya gave us the Maha-Mantra and said here chant this and be happy (go back to Lord Krsna), free love of Godhead...(besides I like this Mantra..OK!)

Is it ok if we chant his name that way and just think about him rather than trying to achieve perfection in some dead language?

The Maha-Mantra contains..

Oh Sri Radha please engage me in the service of Krsna/Rama

So chant with feeling I_L_K...dandvats to u for asking such cool questions...Haribol!

Is it me or is the white/light blue radiance radiating from your post with the sound of a transcendental flute...

Those answers were good enough for me, I will start trying to chant properly(will stop being lazy) and do it in sanskrit even though it does not really make sense...

Thanks it has some sort of a mystic nature to it anyway /images/graemlins/smile.gif

we should do the best we can with pronounciation but if someone has an accent or a speech defect that makes the words come out not quite right - well, this does not make the chanting any less effective. Pure laziness is another thing altogether.

the english written word Krishna should be pronounced as Krushna as per sanskrit pronounciation. the "sh" should not be stressed too much, but lightly. Krsna is not exact or nearer as per sanskrit. I am from India and I know sanskrit, which should be by the way pronounced as "sunskrith" and not sanskrit like in sam or script in english. The britishers because they could not pronounce it properly, they made it as sanskrit.
