Gluten comes from wheat. You can make gluten by taking wheat dough and soaking it in water and squeezing out the milky portion till only the rubbery gluten is left. It used as a meat replacement in some vegan dishes. It is not used very much in Indian cooking. It can be hard to digest unless cooked and prepared properly. I am not a big fan of gluten. Milk curd is way better than gluten. Fried curd is the ultimate veggie meat.

Be careful. Many are allergic to this and dont know it! The reason is that it doesn't give typical 'reactions' such as rash on tongue, etc., but instead a person gets a yucky feeling, often a problem with digesting it BUT not always. Its bad for diabetes or related. Is high in natural sugar that is damaging to many. Some have celiac disease and also don't know it. This is one food that irriates it. I don't have time to get into this but am concerned, so for those who would like to learn more on this topic, do a search and check out:

hey ksama, 'sup ji ?

i experimented with gluten till i perfected it,

get gluten flour, some markets carry it,most health food stores also.

make a liquid solution from either powdered milk

or milk with powdered milk added to get a consistency

of syrup, at room temperature adda oil to taste,

a little is better then alot, then mix till desired

consistency, the thicker it is the more solid

the end result,do not add spices, it will

change the end result in a bad way,add spices

after it is baked ,it will absorb them.

a good consistency is sponge like, then bake on

a buttered baking dish or pan, oil will cause it to stick,

as well as ghee.

then bake in oven at 375' till it turns a light brown,

it will puff up like a ballon, so bake on lowest rack,

when done let it cool on pan, it will deflate.

then soak in cool water, and either store in frig,

or use, but first squeeze out water, not to much though, best to either pan fry or bake lightly coated with oil,or just on oiled pan, but bake for only 15 minutes at 250', then put in dish desired and cook with it

or eat alone with some topping,or whatever.

this is far superior to the boiling method, the gluten comes

out beautiful.enjoy !

Neither muslims nor hindus/iskcon people should be eating gelatin (made from pig and cow bones), which means no marshmallows, jell-o, or lucky charms! Be careful of budget gourmet TV dinners, too, because the vegetable fried rice contains beef stock! oops!

What? What picture did I post? The bharatanatyam one? I don't see how Freud would like that so much? Forgive me, but I'm just trying to figure out what you mean...

Maybe you think it weird for a girl to be called Vanamali, but then I have a male friend named Gopi, so go figure...

Is this even close to what you're talking about? I'm confused.

Happy Deepawali by the way

the post was for Bahru who calls himself stonehearted. Nothing wrong with your picture or post or name or anything.

it was just a simple joke that he will understand. I probably should not have even posted it. Sorry for the confusion.

By the way what does vanamali mean?

Vanamali is one of the names of Sri Krishna. It means, the one who wears a vanamala (mala or garland of forest flowers.

Cheers!
