As you have mentioned, the sqaure of 111,111,111 is 12,345,678,987,654,321 which is a palindrome.

You take a numbers in which each digit is 1 and find the square of the number.

 

The sqaure of 1 is 1 which is a palindrome (any string having only one character is, by definition, a palindrome)

 

The square of 11 is 121, again a palindrome.

 

Keep doing that. You will find that this pattern ultimately stops. Can you find out when it stops?

 

To put the question more formally:-

 

Take a number in which there is no digit other than 1 and the number of digits is n. Find the smallest value of n for which the square of the number is not a palindrome.

so maximum number of digits containing all 1's is "9" for getting a palindrome product.

You are right. I do not know why, but earlier whenever I looked at the number, I unconsciously supplied the digit 8 after the digit 7, though 9 comes in the number after 7. This time also, my eyes (or is it brain?) might have cheated me the same way, if you had not made some of digits in bold font.
