I am just now able to start making milk kefir for my family. We use the grains

and I make them in a milk that is 1 cup Vance's dairy free and 2 packages of

tofu...and enough water to make a gallon. This is really nice tasting and the

grains love it.....do you think I can make

try other kinds....I saved one batch and made cheese and used the whey as water

for the next batch..and it worked well....but would like to branch out a

bit...but not sure if it is possible.

Also hubby has just found out he has IBS and is not doing so well...am trying to

figure what I can do to help him....got him some green pills....hoping that that

will help to alkalize him....he does drink the kefir as long as I put a bit of

sugar and make it chocolate!! ROTF....I think that man would take about anything

if it was chocolate!!! Any suggestions....he's not tolerating acids at

all...have got him GF/cf for a bit and on Nattokinese for inflammation...any one

have any suggestions....am trying to get him on

CP1 pros...but he is balking about the pills....so need to do other things...

Thanks

Ronni

That too. An amazing number of people suddenly recover when

they stop eating gluten.

There are a couple of other good stopgaps though.

Going GF stopped about 3/4 of my issues, but the following

solved 9/10 of the remaining ones!

1. Bentonite clay. It works fast, like in a day.

2. Glucomannan. It's incredible for inflammation,

and harmless and cheap. I mix it 1:4 with psyllium,

and take 1 tsp of that mix 3x a day (before meals). It

makes food digest better, and does a number on inflammation.

There have been a lot of studies on it, and in long term use

it does not cause nutritional deficiencies or other problems.

You do have to mix it well with water and drink it down

fast because it thickens, and pills have stuck in people's

esophagi. Can cause a bit of gas when you are getting used

to it. But I haven't had a problem with it.

I don't know why it helps with inflammation, since it

isn't actually digested much. I buy it by the pound from

miraclenoodles.com. I think it changes the bacterial mix

in the colon for the better.

An amazing number of people, myself included, suddenly recovered

when they stopped eating any and all dairy. While a large amount

of starch/sugar/carbs will also disagree with my lower GI,

nothing wrecks it worse than a small amount of cheese or milk or

yogurt or any dairy ingredients. In my experience, IBS is caused

more by an allergy to what you are eating than by something you

are not eating. Of course health foods are good, but I would

advise removing all dairy from his diet immediately. Beyond that,

I would suggest a diet high in protein and cooked vegetables

(leafy and cruciferous).
