Guest guest Report post Posted November 19, 2005 There is a lot that I do not understand about Hinduism. Will you please answer a few questions for me? 1. What makes up the Hindu religion? 2. What are the cultural and societal influences that have made hinduism vital to the region in which it originated? 3. Explain the desire for liberation from earthly existance. Arjuna 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 1. What makes up the Hindu religion? It is the eternal duty, or Sanatana Dharma. There are different sects as far as I know who follow different texts as the core to their ideology. 3. Explain the desire for liberation from earthly existance. The modes of nature/gunas and one's action are part of what keeps people returning to the material life. Devotional service to Krishna and selfless service, denying the fruits of one's work will help to keep one from repeating incarnations.
sefroth77 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 1. """What makes up the Hindu religion?""" Theres no such word as Hindu in any of the Vedic Scriptures. Its Real name is Sanatana Dharma. Eternal Religion, its a religion for the Spirit Soul not for the material body. If you realise that the Soul is different from the Body then, you've actually understood Sanatana Dharma. Through there are many branches within this great religion, everyone accepts that the Atma(Soul) is the Real Self. 2. ""What are the cultural and societal influences that have made hinduism vital to the region in which it originated?""" Tolerance, respect and revered for all life forms is what makes Hindusim great. 3.""" Explain the desire for liberation from earthly existance.""" Once you have no interest in this material life, no interest in money, sex, attachment then you are actually a liberated Soul. This make take many births and death to come to this stage. Just chant the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra, and have your thoughts on Krishna, at death, you'll be liberated. Hare Krsna Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare.
