Guest guest Posted June 11, 2006 Report Share Posted June 11, 2006 Can any one of you provide information about the sub-sects of tamil pillais, especially Sozhia Vellala Pillai.I would like to know about the origin of each one of them. 1) Earlier Tanmilandu was ruled by Movedars called Chera,Chola/Sozha and Pandiyas. 2)This Sozhia Vellala Pilla is originated from the mighty Shozhas and still exist in large number in the so called Cholanadu which consists of Trichy,Thangavur,Tiruvarur,Pudukottai,Nagapattinam,Permbalur Districts. 3) Particularly they are the majority one in the old famous capital of Woorayur & its surroundings(now known as Trichy-I) and this is the same case with the famous Port of Cholas i.e. Nagapattinam 4) Most of the MLA's from Sozhia vellala community repeatedly elected form these pockets. 5) Sozhia vellalas also elected from Tirupattur Constituency 6) The constitue more than 50% of Srilanka Tamils particularly in North Srilanka sozhiavellala@ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
