Guest guest Report post Posted June 29, 2005 It is a fact that in many pujas of devi non-veg is offered as prasad perhaps a remanant of tantrik/animal sacrifices. Also Durga And Kali are worshipped to gain power particulalry during battle preparations by kshatriyas and hence animal sacrifices and prasad. Though it is not common and practised mainly by non-veg devotees.
Guest guest Report post Posted June 30, 2005 Kali and Durga are prominently worshiped in Bengal and Nepal. Bengalis and Nepalis eat meat, and as such offer it to Durga and Kali. I see nothing wrong with this... meat eating is not forbidden in Hinduism, even the great Swami Vivekananda advocated eating meat.
maadhav 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2005 << even the great Swami Vivekananda advocated eating meat. >> that is a quite supprise for me, hard to believe. is here any authentic reference to suppot this? it is my understanding that even those hindus who eat meat, know that it is not good to eat it if one cres for spiritual progress. so, all the vedic people respect vegetarians because they eat sin-free foods.
