Purple coconut meat

Hi All,

There's been some debate about coconut meat. Some coconuts are

opened and the meat is very thin and is a purplish color.

I found a good discussing about this:

In Summary:

When they are very young they have a purple colour. If the flesh is

very thin and tastes okay it's probably fine. If it has an off taste

throw it out. I've seen lots of posts over the last few years saying

purple was automatically bad, but coconut growers here say

differently. When I've bought them in the US only a small % are

purple, and they tasted fine.

Cheers,

Sheryl

Yes the purple color means they are very young, not spoiled,

from my own experience, and from what I have read ( " Raw Food Real

World " ).

I only happen apon a lavender ones occassionally. I prefer the white

ones,

but have eaten the laveder ones too as long as it smells ok.

I blended it into a smoothie to make it more appetizing.

Glad your other one was white and more to your liking.
