Dog Breeder Charged in Case of Sick Puppy

By:  10TV News, Ohio

08-08-08

LAURELVILLE, Ohio — A dog breeder faces a charge of obstructing an investigation into the condition of a puppy she sold.

Tina Devault sold a pug puppy to Michelle Leighty of Columbus. Leighty initially found Blue Ribbon Kennels of Ohio over the Internet, 10TV's Lindsey S

eavert reported.  MARY O'C-SHAVER'S NOTES:  Here is a link to the breeder's website - > http://www.blueribbonkennelsofohio.com/contact.html

Leighty said that after contacting Blue Ribbon Kennels, Devault came to Columbus to show the puppy to Leighty. Leighty said she fell in love with the dog, whom she named Bruno.  Bruno soon became ill, and a veterinarian told Leighty the puppy had coccidia - a stomach parasite - as well as enlarged organs. Leighty said her veterinarian doubts Bruno will be able to live a full life.

Leighty said when she informed Devault of the veterinarian's findings, Devault insisted on taking Bruno to her own veterinarian before returning the dog to Leighty.  According to Leighty, after Devault took Bruno back, the breeder blamed Leighty for Bruno's condition. Devault refused to return Bruno, and Leighty complained to Hocking County authorities.

Hocking County sheriff's deputies and county dog warden Don Kiger searched Blue20Ribbon Kennels, which operates out of two mobile homes. Kiger was troubled by the conditions he found.  "We saw a couple of dogs in small cages with feces. It looked like the bottom (of the cages) had not been changed in awhile," Kiger said.

Kiger eventually seized Bruno from Devault and returned the puppy to Leighty. Bruno had been separated from Leighty for eight days.

The Hocking County dog warden told 10TV individuals should always visit the breeding location before purchasing a puppy and should ask for a health guarantee from the breeder. Kiger also recommended asking a breeder for references from those who have purchased dogs in the past.

Devault told 10TV News that her parents operate Blue Ribbon Kennels but that the puppy she sold Leighty came from another kennel.  Hocking County authorities said their investigation into Devault and Blue Ribbon Kennels continues.

this is for the un published news on this person..... this was a case of a police officer purchasing a dog he did not know how to take care off and local sheriff getting involved and falsely accusing that did not happen the way the leighty's reported it

see article that was not posted in the out come.

Last Friday, the U.S. District Court issued an order setting a trial date in Case No. 2:10CV0806 for Aug. 5, 2013. On that date, Ohio Power, dba American Electric Power and Deputy Trent Woodgeard, will defend themselves in a civil rights lawsuit in the federal court, for violation of my husband’s and my Constitutional rights of free speech and to be free of illegal search and seizure, which occurred on Sept. 9, 2009.

The attorney defending Woodgeard for acts he committed while he was employed by AEP is not being paid by AEP, or Woodgeard himself. He is represented by an attorney through which the insurance premiums are paid by the Hocking County Commissioners — in other words, his defense is being paid for by Hocking County taxpayers.

On May 6, 2013, the same federal court will begin jury selection in Case No. 2:09CV0669 — Calvin Akers v. Hocking County Sheriff Deputies Dustin Grove (former), Pat Allison and Hocking County Dog Warden Don Kiger, for illegal search and seizure and excessive force against Calvin Akers, deceased.

In denying the defendants’ summary judgment in that case, Judge Watson stated that “[Akers] was surrounded by three armed law enforcement officers who appeared on the property without a warrant” and that, “Mr. Akers was seventy-six years old, had recently recovered from pneumonia he contracted following chemotherapy for bone cancer and could walk only with the aid of crutches.” The court determined that, “Deliberately grabbing crutches from someone who needs them to stand and walk easily meets the requirement of intentional, offensive contact.”

The attorney representing Grove, Allison and Kiger is also Woodgeard’s.

We the people must afford our own legal representation to preserve our civil rights, as well as paying (collectively and infinitely) for that of those who have willfully and deliberately violated the very Constitution of we the people they are sworn to uphold. Our Constitution is endangered for this very reason.
