Thank you Simon for that. I must find the Pin Yin versions for those

As a matter of fact, even the Pin Yin name is often differentiated, but this differentiation often does not make it to the West. In case of Mu Tong it did: Chuan Mu Tong is the Stephania sp., Guang Mu Tong the Aristolochia sp. Similar in Mu Xiang. Qing Mu Xiang is Aristolochia, Tu Mu Xiang Inula and Guang Mu Xiang Auklandia.

Alon,

That's why it's important for the supplier to buy directly from the grower. Lot numbers should reflect specific growing sites if not specific plots of land.

The differentiations that Simon speaks of should be noted and dealt with as a course of normal business. The difference between Han Fan Ji and Guan Fan Ji should be noted as this is central to the aristolochic acid controversy. Simon's references note the differences between Mu Tong from entirely different provinces. Such regional differences should be easy to manage if you are loading a container at a growing site rather than at a Hong Kong or Shen Zhen warehouse.

Sam from QualiHerbs and Dr. Liang from my own company have met and discussed these issues at last August's seminar near the S.F. airport.

Thank-you for the welcome, didn't mean to create a uproar, but I

seem to be a magnet for them, my first Aromatherapy teacher now is a

YL distributor, my local health food store is selling their

products under his own label, I have parkinsons and a " friend " is

trying to cure me with Mr. Youngs techniques- and way too many run

ins with the distributors so its the first question I feel I have to

ask.

Again thanks for having me and I am happy to learn from honest and

informed people.

Hi Gea,

Several years ago, I did a lot of study on parkinson, I think I had something

for involitary

reflex. My neice has CP. All the work I put into it, I mixed up a bottle so

she could use it on her arms. When I gave it to her, my brother and sister in

law were right there.

They right away said it won't work. The Dr's said nothing could be done.

Sadly their mind was so set, they wouldn't even ask her Dr's if maybe she could

try it.

Some People.

I count myself among the very novice who were fortunate to find this group

before ever even hearing of YL.

If anyone ever approaches me and says anything that even sounds like

YL...believe me from what I've learned here no one has to identify themselves as

YL - I'll know it the minute they open their mouths. I will tell them to have a

nice day somewhere else.

This isn't just a very knowledgeable group. You will find they are all happy to

share, open minded and of good spirit.

I'm glad you found them too.

Thanks all for the welcome,

My dx is one of the main reasons I got into aromatherapy, my

neurologist is amazed that I am basically maintaining my symptoms

and not getting worse, he credits it to the fact that I am 34 but I

think its a combo of that a positive attitude and aromatherapy, it

not only helps me limit my muscles freezing up, reduces the

tremors - keeps my stress level down and my mind active as well.

He's not at all against it- if its working go for it.

I have my bad days & its not going to cure me, but I think I would

be much worse if I gave in to it. Plus it has made a difference in

my whole family- everyone is healthier.

I only have my first level certification and have to wait to save

for the money for the next level, I don't have any recipe that I use

& I can't afford alot of oils to experiment with so mainly its

lavender.

Gea,

Wish I knew what I did with all my research. But it was years ago.

Also them not even willing to ask the Dr, I probably threw it away.

My father had Parkinsons. That is probably why I started there with my

research.

Glad you joined us.

Hi Rosanne,

I'm new here too, so we'll be learning together.

How long have you been interested in oils & /or herbs?

Do you have a special area of interest for using them, or is that something

you are still discovering?

Blessings to you too,

Hello Holly and thank you for your welcome. I've been working with herbs

and essential oils since the late 80's. I've made my own medicines

(tinctures, cough drops, salves, etc.) from herbs that I mostly grow in

my garden. I use essential oils for pretty much everything these days! I

incorporate them into my herbal remedies, diffuse them, etc. and I love

blending. I am very connected to the plant world and have come to know

them as powerful allies in all their forms. I discover something new

everyday and I hope I never stop learning. The plants are great teachers

and if I remember to get out of my own way, sometimes, I can learn so

much more.

Hi Pam,

I'd love to help you out! Unfortunately, I don't have any files. I'm not

very organized. But I do have lots of suggestions for the little ones. I

have 3 of my own, ages 11, 8, and 5 and they've been given everything

from my cough drops to " icky " tinctures! It sounds like your daughter in

law would like ideas for dealing with common children's illness. If

there is something specific you'd like to know about, let me know.

Meanwhile, I'll go get some stuff together.

HTH.
