Guest guest
I am a label-reader and wondered how to get the best vitamins, minerals, and herbs. A lot of products are not absoarbable by the body. Probiotics that don't make it past the stomach acid, vitamins like magnesium oxide (rust) or calcium carbonate which are practically useless, and sub- standard herbs are sold everywhere and marked up tremendously. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. Does anyone recommend a company (and you don't sell for them) that is legitimate, potent, and worth the expense? I want to stop wasting my money... Guest guest
hi there, labels mean nothing especially when u remove the assumption that they are honest with their labels. there was an article from the wall street journal that said that they found MOST of the hundreds of supplements they checked on the market were not consistent with the labels. and were even contaminated. a great website for you to use as resource is www.supplementwatch.com where independent group of doctors and scientists rank supplements according to science, safety and value. by far this is the best 'medically proven' natural products i have ever used. in fact, most of my doctor friends who are in alternative medicine, uses them as the first and best option. because they are standardised and proper substantiation on their products. in short the company does their homework for their products , something which is unprecedented in the industry. www.synergy1.mypharmanex.com however, proper usage and combination is the other half os the equation. you need to know the exact mechanism of action, what people are taking ,if they are taking any other drugs, as it may be contra indicated, or even synergistic to their drugs which may not be good for them. email me at busybuddy168 if you want some assistance with some specific health problems and proper combinations. and or if you want some extra clinical studies. am always glad to help a fellow health advocate in getting to the right path. best regards, sandy , " blairkathryn " <blairkathryn wrote: > > I am a label-reader and wondered how to get the best vitamins, > minerals, and herbs. > > A lot of products are not absoarbable by the body. IMO food-based is always vastly superior to isolates. You can drive yourself nuts trying to figure which vitamin and mineral you need. As for the quality of the herbs in my " store " , look at the opinion of Mike " the health ranger " Adam. He does not sell anything except information, but he loves Amazon Herb Company. Guest guest
Try SWANSON VITAMINS. I trust this company for my food suppliments. Guest guest
Hello, I have a company that I've used for years http://www.naturessunshine.com however they are very expensive but have the best quality control and the most knowledgable herbalists working for them. They will take a whole truckload of herbs and send them back if they find just one or two grains of sand. They are run by mormons out of Utah. But very expensive, however you get a few bucks back 20% when you join as a distributor. Since I've been sick I have been forced to go elsewhere for supplements because I just cannot afford their prices, I have found http://www.swansonsvitamins.com and I have compared many of their swanson products to natures sunshine. I find them to be comprabable (melatonin, multi green) and like 1/10th of the price! I have found they also have strict quality control, but you still have to do your own research because they do not have the renowned herbalists working for them, creating their combinations, etc. Example: I did the research on Hoodia because it is always expensive, I found that the ONLY part of the plant that is effective is the pulp from Aerial Stems rare and thus expensive. I read swansons (15.00 per bottle) and found they use leafy pulp which is not effective. So I was forced to go with Natures Sunshine hoodia combination which worked great!! I really really have no desire to eat when I take it. I also use their peppermint oil (NSP) because no one else makes it and when I have found it its bitter. Your best bet is to be sure the company has strict quality control and that the herbs SMELL fresh when you open the package. The vitamins should be derived from GREEN sources and not have a bunch of artificial binders like centrum. Also if you get iron from your supplement or calcium, be sure that it is not derived from iron filings (yep centrum) which cannot be absorbed or oyster shell. You need your iron and calcium to be included because there is a green source containing it. Hope this helps. Be happy. Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail beta. Guest guest
No every supplement is for everyone. I have every client muscle test the supplements until they find one that is a yes. And also not every supplement will work or digest well enough to be absorbed properly...mostly because of how they are made and what they contain. Tablets are THE WORST for this. They do not digest fast enough for the stomacher to send the full dose on the way. So you will get about 20-40% of the supplement instead. Liquid or powder forms are the best with capsules. My daughter did a science fair project which took 1st place showing the difference on dissolving of supplements - mainly calcium. Showed how long it took for supplements to dissolve in pure water. Tablets after 2 hours still had not dissolved, where as liquids and powders had done so within a 30 minute period. Gelatin capsules took an hour and gel caps too a little longer. The stomacher doesn't allow a 1 hour time frame for these and moves that into the bowels within 45 minutes. Guest guest
Certified organic is the only sure way to know what you're getting. Companies and farmers who are certified go through various surprise checks and the manuals are very thick with regulations about what is allowed and what isn't. Vitamins are almost always synthetic. In order for any vitamin to work, it should be surrounded by the thousands or tens of thousands of other phyto-nutrients that are in the original foods. In other words, you need foods, not straight vitamins in order for them to be utilized by the body. Blood Never Lies has a photo of some " potty pellets " that were collected by the author's friend who cleans sewers. It's a big bowlful of pills, including vitamins that were found floating in the sewage. What a waste of money! Price is also a huge clue! Buy cheap, get junk. If a probiotic needs to be stored in the fridge, how can it work in a hot body? If it's surrounded by a capsule and a person has digestive problem how could that possibly be dissolved? Common sense must rule when making buying decisions! Himalaya salt provides minerals in a natural form. You might also want to try tissue salts to balance the body. BioXII by Hyland contains all of them. I have spent thousands of dollars on various supplements, juices and other therapies. There are so many junky products out there, it's riduculous. I think (and others don't agree) that it's important to see testimonials to see how the product works. Other people like to see the science behind it. Science can be manipulated though to suit the manufacturer of the products so while it may be interesting, it may not be valid. If the cells are clogged with toxins, you also won't be able to utilize nutrients. Detoxification should come first or at least at the same time as taking nutritionals. If a liver or digestive system is not functioning correctly toxins will just be redeposited elsewhere in the body so good organ function is necessary as well. This is the short version of what could be a book! We use In-Liven probiotic superfood which I bought totally by chance when ordering organic cosmetic products. I've since been on about 8 conference calls with the formulator and everyone I know who's tried this product has had results. I have a detox business used to work for a holistic doctor and this is now part of what I recommend to my clients and without fail, there are always results. It's a living product, not a dead one. We are live beings and need live foods for our bodies. I realize you said you didn't want to hear from anyone who sells products but this information should help you to make a decision about anything else you might want to try. In case anyone else is interested brochures with ingredients and/or testimonials are available by writing me: hotmocha. Guest guest
Here we go again. Dear Sandy, As a fellow network marketer I totally support your desire to make a business sharing products that have worked for you. BUT. Can you tone it down a bit? Like, let go of this " my stuff is the only good stuff " thing? We all gain more credibility if we don't make every post a commercial. There are many excellent products out there. Some are sold in stores, some are networked. You have good stuff, my friends in Mannatech have good stuff, I know people who swear by their Nikken, Shaklee or Herbalife, etc etc. Different products work for different people. That's just the way it is. May a thousand flowers bloom. In friendship Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com
Guest guest
_Mountainroseherbs.com_ (http://www.Mountainroseherbs.com) Mountain Rose herbs are organic, the staff is very knowledgeable and there are informative articles. I am not associated with them in any way but order my herbs and such mostly from them. Prices are reasonable. They also have specials and articles and recipes in newsletters that you can to. I am an herbalist and I am very careful of what I buy. This is for the person asking where to buy good herbal products. Guest guest
This is so true - what works for some may not work for others!!! muscle testing is a great way to work this out. bacteria need to live and work in colonies (a lot of probiotic company's intentionally shake them apart to increase the bacteria count which is misleading). they must also arrive in the gut " alive " so they can multiply and produce substrains needed for a healthy gut. Guest guest
I have found a company that is exceptional in the quality of herbs and that back them with a 1 year money back guarantee. These Life Force herbs are pure, they are not fumigated or irradiated, and are hand inspected when they come into the country. The labels are great. mention what and how much and even the vegicaps are listed. I love the ease of receiving these herbs. I call or order online and they send them to me every month. I have written a booklet about these herbs. Feel free to download it as my gift to you. www.miraclerainforestherbs.com Sincerely Susan Norgren , " blairkathryn " <blairkathryn wrote: > > I am a label-reader and wondered how to get the best vitamins, > minerals, and herbs. > > A lot of products are not absoarbable by the body. Guest guest
i disagree, i think this is just organic 'hype' herbs may cure and herbs can also cause harm, not because of how its farmed but because certain herbs naturally contain stuff in them that may cause other problems. to simplistically say that everything that says 'organic' is good is saying that the more ancient the method the better. its ridiculous. and retrogresive. and is probably only the marketing efforts of less capitalised companies wanting to sell cheap unprocessed herbs at higher prices.we followed the ancient is good theory, we would have all died of amoeba bacteria on our water, because purifying it is artificial. times have changed, even the rain has acid. herbs can cure and cause illness. the herb gotu kola, wether organic or not, has a natural chemical inside that causes liver toxicity with regular use. the herb ginkgo biloba, contains ginkgolic acid, which causes bleeding, so if you eat the whole leaf, it will cause more hard to you than good. wether organic or not. the issue is wether the cook knows how to cook well. the same ingredients cooked by different recipes and different methods, taste different.. and what if the kitchen itself is outdated, dilapidated, and under equiped? what if the hands that prepare them were not washed? what if the 'cook' for your organic products, had organic SNEEZE or organic COUGH added into the mixture? how would you know? results never lie, DEMAND CLINICAL STUDIES done on the actual propduct you have in your hand. after all thats what UCLA advises. i would listen to the advise of an INSTITUTION like UCLA rather than some strange person promoting his own brand without any basis and science, but just simplistic theories that have no validation or proof. to your safety and health sandy , <hotmocha wrote: > > Certified organic is the only sure way to know what you're getting. > Companies and farmers who are certified go through various surprise > checks and the manuals are very thick with regulations about what is > allowed and what isn't. > > Vitamins are almost always synthetic.
