Hello,

The 'Festival Of Lights' Diwali is celebrated for five days all over India.

For us ayurvedic physicians, the festival is even more important because it

includes Dhan-trayodashi (Thirteenth day of month of Ashwin), on this day a

grand pooja of Lord Dhanwantari is performed. For Hindus, diwali is as

important as Christmas is to Christians.

India is still predominantly agricultural country. During October-November

when the crop is fully ripe (if the monsoon is good - which it is this

year!), farmers are very happy and Diwali is celebrated with joy and

enthusiasm. People are in general mood of buying various things from

electronic equipment to cloths. Exams are over in schools and children are

enjoying the holidays.

Dhanwantari pooja is to be performed today on Dhanatrayodashi (on November

7, 2007). May Lord Dhanwantari help us all.

Wish you all a very very happy Diwali.

Namaskar.

Dr. Thite
