Guest guest
Hello, Friends--- This is from a friend about her sister. Any suggestions? Hello to my friends.... I'm writing to ask for prayer again, but this time not for us! My sister Heather is in her 14th week of pregnancy and has been covered in hives the entire time. She is miserable, itchy, feels like her skin is on fire. It's hard to sleep at night and her days are difficult too. She's exhausted and so worn down. She is feeling at the end of her rope emotionally and really, really, really in need of prayer and a spiritual lift. So please remember her in your prayers! Love... Holly. Blessed holiday and new year to you all....... Thanks so much. janel Dear Janel, As there are so many causes often for the same symptoms, of course it must be said that she should consult with an ayurvedic practitioner to determine and balance causes. In any case, hives, rashes, heat, fire, itch, these are indicative of much excess fire element, we call pitta dosha, inher system. Usually I look right away to palliatives like drinking coconut water, eating coconut in any (unsweetened probably best) form, drinking or eating pomegranite, and coriander leaf in abundance. We are at the end of pomegranite harvest season, and the juice is available in most natural foods and mediterranean stores; best during pregnancy I'm not sure - any input here? taken in small amounts several times a day, perhaps with grape juice, which is also cooling and detoxifying. Taking fresh coriander in the blender, a good handful, and spinning with splash water and pinch salt and thin slice fresh ginger is a reasonably palatable way to get a better dose of the rash relieving, detoxifying cilantro, 2 Tbs of this puree 2-3 times a day. Dr. Lad, in the back of he and his wife's cookbook, Ayurvedic Cooking for Self Healing, says: 1. For rash, hives and hot flashes, try drinking 1 cup of pomegranate juice with 1 teaspoon of rack candy powder (or light organic sugar, it is cooling, the dark is heating), and 5-10 drops fresh lime juice 2 or 3 times per day. Again, for pregnancy, I would dilute it with grape juice by 2/3. 2. High pitta conditions like rash, hives, and nausea can be relieved by steeping 1 teaspoon of coriander, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, and 1 teaspoon of natural sugar in 1 cup of hot milk. Drink this once or twice a day. Janel, please send your friend the link on correct use of milk at http://www.sacredwindow.com/Articles-List.html. Avoiding salty, most sour (lime in small doses, and pomegranite are cooling in spite of being sour. Other citrus will irritate her cndition), and strong spicy flavors need to be avoided, as do red meat and fermented things now. There are a number of excellent ayurvedic physicians, several women listed in my resources section available by phone in this country. Or she can call, I offer a " doubters 10 minute free consult " to see if one feels good about proceeding. Bowel frequency may be a BIG factor, dietary, meds, recreational chemicals, digestion, exercise, emotional stressors, what she is willing to do to address the issues, history, all need to be looked at. Thank you for your warm holiday greetings, and best prayers for your family as well. I read the article about your son in Iraq and what a strong loving mom and sister he has. Blessings and Love for you all, Ysha www.sacredwindow.com
