I have Fibromyalgia. If your mom is overweight, too, and can't

exercise (very common with this disorder) she should have her thyroid checked

by a very good doctor. A combination of Cytomel and levothroid has helped me

have less pain and better mobility. I am going to try the Black Walnut Hull

formula to see if that helps, too. Anyone else?

Hi Peela,

I've always recommended mega doses of Echinacea for Fibro, with a one week on and one week off regimen. With some major changes in diet, she should make some great strides forward. Best bet would be for her to connect up with a Naturopathic Nutritionist in her area as well.

[herbal remedies] fibromyalgia

Hi, I want to ask you all if anyone can suggestanything for my mother. She has fibromyalgia, has had it for 2-3 years. Shewent on steroids a year or so ago, and now cant getoff them. The side effects are terrible, and she wantsto get off them, (its prednisone) but whenever shelowers the dose, the pain becomes unbearable.I know she is getting quite depressed. She is quite overweight, and had a full hysterectomywhen she was 26, and has been on premarin since. Sheis now 56. The Chinese doctor she is seeing reckons itcould stem from that- her whole system is out ofbalance. She doesnt live near me, so I recommended she see anatural therapist where she lives, and this Chinesedoctor seems great. But they dont seem to incorporatedetoxifying into their regime, and that concerns me.I just wrote her a long letter about detoxifying, about having a toxic colon, and that sort of thing.I sent her herbs a while back- a Boswellia complex, but it didnt do anyting, she reckons.if anyone knows anything about fibromyaliga that mayhelp, please tellthanks in advancelovepeelaGet email at your own domain with Mail. http://personal.mail./Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Thanks Ian- i am wondering, is the Echinacea because

it is suspected to be a viral illness that they just

havnt discovered the virus for,(like chronic fatigue,

supposedly, which is supposed to be related)? or is it

just because the immune system is so depleted anyway?

Thanks for the story Jean and the good advice. The best source of Evening Primrose I know of that's on the market today is UDOs Choice Perfected Blend Oil - never touches plastic and also contains the highest quality flax oil that I could find.

[herbal remedies] Fibromyalgia

Hi,

I was critically exposed to a nerve type insecticide and this may have caused me to develop fibromyalgia but I'd never heard this connection before this. I was to the point of having to quit working on the farm, or just a matter of weeks because this was escalating fast. I sat down and gave it some serious thought; I couldn't even lift a sack of feed any longer. I decided to try Evening of Primrose Oil. Two weeks later I was able to trim 5 sets of goat's feet, manhandle 22 head into a trailer to get a health certificate, unload all the feed, do chores and jump out of bed the next morning without a twinge. I took two capsules, one in the AM and one in the PM. Each capsule contained Evening Of Primrose Oil 1,300 mg., GLA 135 mg., Omega 6 - 935mg., and Omega 9 - 105 mg. This was known as Nutrition Warehouse Super Primrose Oil but they have gone out of business, or sold out to another company and they no longer produce this same product. The instructions say to take up to 3 of these capsules a day. They say Borage oil is just as good. The key to the Evening of Primrose Oil is to take enough to counter the inflammation.

I personally believe that each case of CFS is a matrix of many factors in varying degrees. Many patients have had chemical exposures which seriously compromised their immune systems. Most of them have someone in their lives who is constantly invalidating or undercutting them. One new finding indicates that most have excess cerebrospinal fluid. I have not yet seen an Ayurvedic perspective on this, which would be fascinating. A few of my clients have been diagnosed with CFS or more commonly Fibromyalgia, and they are constantly being whipsawed between advice from doctors and from various alternative educators like myself. They don't know where to turn, because medical regimens tend to provide some relief for a while, and then don't work anymore for no discernible reason; or end up having unacceptable side effects. Alternative approaches are attractive to them, but while they're waiting for results the pain can be literally unbearabl! e -- and it's often difficult to judge whether or not a particular technique is working in the meantime.

There have been some glowing testimonials circulating concerning certain nutriceutical products, including Pygnogenol, Microhydrin, HGH, SAM-E, and MSM.

Ian,

My naturopathic product distributor got some Udo's in,

and I happenned to be there as they arrived. I bought

one- and it was slightly but disctinctly bitter,

rancid. I took it back, very disappointed, and so was

my distributor. I dont know if maybe somewhere en

route they were left uncooled or what, but I have

given upon finding any decent oils now. Well, almost

given up.

Peela, good on ya for taking it back. It should not taste rancid or bitter at all. I order mine directly from the manufacturer and I demand that they pack it frozen with thermal insulation so that I still get it frozen. I in turn ship it frozen to my patients and haven't had a complaint yet (knock on wood). You should have your natural product distributor demand that the UDOs be sent packed in dry ice. This would keep it frozen for the entire trip across the Pacific.

-Kit- I have been there- ooh...

After only two surgeries, i felt just as you

described- the answer for me was a combination of

herbal de-toxification cycles and constant and ever

vigilant low- level- for me- activities that i found

in yoga, t'ai chi and walking,

it works and massage helps " get the residual metabolic

wastes out. A type of massage should be available to

you it is called, Lymph drainage massage or LDM or

manual Lymph drainage

Expect syptoms to come on fierce after the LDM- it

acts directly on the lymphatic veins and literally

dumps the metabolic wastes back into your blood

stream- so i strongly urge to to eliminate as much as

you can before a LDM by using de-tox formula for a few

weeks.

You can try different detox herbal plans- i think that

the ones on this discussion group have a lot of

merit- but try various series of plant-derived

detoxification recipes-

I really endorse Milk thistle- in a tincture or a tea,

the pills didn't work for me- they might for you.

that is the cool thing about plants- that there are

specific variables, or healing qualities of certain

plants and combination of plants which align with

individuals. if something worked for me, it may or

may not work for you- but there is always a similar-

effect producing herb- an alternative- you can find it

by learning about these:

yellow dock

Burdock root

Cascara Sagrada

Red clover

Milk thistle--woo woo!

I also really like the parasitic cleansers

The ones that i have tried and can say worked for me:

Fresh green Walnut shell

Clove

Wormwood

When the body systems are sluggish, the immune

response may be slower or jeopardized-

Opportunistic " colonies of yeast " or bacterial

infections can

obsure the original problem- so

Cleanse your system and then go on from there

Find an herbalist you can trust in your area

Keep it simple- Pain gone

Sincerely

Congestion is not common with fibromyalgia. But it can happen.

My favorite congestion remedy is simply peppermint-eucalyptus tea. However,

it will tend to cancel out homeopathic remedies.

Didn't know about Osha being endangered. Do you have more details? I know

several places where it grows wild near here.

Pealmoon,

USP DMSO is pharmaceutical grade dimethyl sulfoxide and MSM is methy sufonylmethane. DMSO is a liquid and the USP grade only comes in glass bottles. Do not use any DMSO that comes in plastic bottles. MSM comes in capsules or powder. THe DMSO you can apply to your affected parts and the MSM you can take internally. As for the cayenne you can take it internally, highly recommended and you can make an ointment, tincture or whatever and use it externally, also highly recommended. And there is no need to ask forgiveness for ignorance as there is no stupid question, the only stupid question is the one which never gets asked. :~)

Hope this helps.

I almost forgot, you can get cayenne in capsule form but it is much better to buy it bulk and get the hottest you can find. The hotter it is the better it is therapeutically. Make a tincture with it and rub on your aching areas. Eat or drink it and it will work fromt the inside as well. Mix it in smoothies, as already mentioned or however you wish.

Fibromyalgia

Hi Beth: I always felt Fibromyalgia was caused by a niacin deficiency causing low grade Gillian Barrae syndrome. Or infection of many nerves. The other probable cause is mercury, in the older vaccines destroying parts of the cdentral nervous system. There are ways to detox.

What is TMJ and dissociated childhood sexual abuse?

This is my first post here. I have fibromyalgia with a lot of pain and fatigue, also bad TMJ pain. I had dissociated childhood sexual abuse until age 44. TMJ = temperomandibular joint disorder

dissociated childhood sexual abuse I assume means

that she didn't connect it (the abuse) until age 44

Beth, since you mention the TMJ, I suggest you find a

really good chiropractor, because the TMJ is usually

corrected by addressing the occiputal/atlas/axis

subluxation, which is where your brainstem is affected,

creating cord pressure and meningeal irritation. The jaw is

secondary, but can be approached by correcting the

skull and cervical misalignments - which will make a

huge difference in releasing your nervous system from

the traumatic pattern it is in, resulting in chronic muscular

spasm. Please look for a Network chiropractor in your

area. You can go to the directory at

http:///www.innateintelligence.com for more information.

You will need to commit to at the very least several months

of consistent adjustments (not the structural kind you are

accustomed to associating with chiropractic, but instead

meningeal adjustment, very low force, also called

neural entrainment.) You will get relief and help with this

method way beyond any therapies--it will change your life.

If there is not a Network practitioner near you, then ask for

referrals to chiropractor who does precision

light-force work - Please don't delay.

Re: Fibromyalgia

TMJ = temperomandibular joint disorder

dissociated childhood sexual abuse I assume means

that she didn't connect it (the abuse) until age 44

Beth, since you mention the TMJ, I suggest you find a

really good chiropractor, because the TMJ is usually

corrected by addressing the occiputal/atlas/axis

subluxation, which is where your brainstem is affected,

creating cord pressure and meningeal irritation. The jaw is

secondary,

Faulty occlusion of the teeth causes the brain to reprogram the chewing process and pulls the jaw out of its natural position. The joint, being dislocated by this suffers dysfunction.

We used chiropractic treatment as a ''secondary" aid, but correction of the mal-occlusion is primary.

Nutrition and psychologic factors are extremely important here also.

I'd be willing to send you a report on TMJ if you send me a long s-a-s envelope: Jerry Mittelman, DDS, FAPM, 263 West End Ave.#2A, NYC, NY 10023.

Just this month "Integrative Health and Healing" published 2 articles that I wrote on this.

Beth, I don't know much about fibromyalgia, but I have just one thru the TMJ

problem.. I bit down on nothing hard in particular, but somehow my jaw

shifted and the left side back teeth would not meet. It was not too

painful-I called my dentist and he said take advil and apply moist heat.

Well after two days, it was not getting any better and I went in to see him.

He filed down a couple of high points and said lets see. After another week

still no better and went in and did the same thing. It got so bad I called

and said I need to see a specialist. Went to a TMJ specialist and he made a

bite guard for me. I was clenching my teeth-not grinding. He gave me Vioxx

and told me to close my lips and put my tongue at the roof of my mouth and

not let my teeth touch at all. Eat soft foods and apply ice, which really

helped get the swelling down. I have to wear this guard for another three

weeks til I see him again, but it is soooooo much better. Next time I go to

my regular dentist, I am going to tell him if someone comes in in my

condition not to mess around and go directly to a TMJ dentist. I know TMJ

can be brought on by stress, which I had alot of at this time. It is

obvious that you are under stressful conditions, I am so sorry to hear of

your childhood problems. Hope you feel better real soon.

Hi Beth. I am just learning about lymphasizing. Moving the lymphatic system. Very interesting stuff. I moderate a bio electric medicine discussion group and so bio electric medicine is of great interest to me. I am also always looking for the most natural way to health. So, recently, lymphasizing info crossed my path and as I read up on it I found out it is really the most natural way to turn on our bodies own electrical generators. When our cells have proper levels of minerals and moisture, (not too much and not too little) our cells are powerful little electrical units and restore and repair and heal at remarkable rates. The book I am reading which is entitled "The Golden Seven Plus One" gives references to remarkable healing rates for bone and many other things when electricity from outside sources is applied. And says that we can turn this on, on the inside and see nearly miraculous results.

Over and over there are testimonies of people with chronic and often acute pain that got relief in short order. I have no personal experience with this, but am sharing it so that you can do some research on your own.

I have ordered a Needak rebounder and plan to start lymphasizing today, if it arrives. By moving the excess lymph in our systems we restore our cells ability to turn on the juice and do the work they were made to do. Diet is an issue, of course, simple clean food. And deep breathing. It is worth doing some research on, I think.

Another issue re: the sexual trauma. You might check out www.emofree.com It shares a remarkably easy pressure point therapy that is being successfully used by many for releasing emotional trauma from the body. Viet Nam vets with flash backs are getting free in literally minutes with just some simple pressure point therapy. REALLY interesting stuff. And it is free. Yipee! My mom had chronic insomnia and I helped her do the pressure point tapping. We both felt kinda silly about it, but it was free and couldn't hurt, so we did it and she slept like a baby that night. We both were somewhat incredulous still. I have used it for a number of things and be absolutely amazed sometimes and not so thrilled other times.

Anyway, Nice to "meet" you.

Hi Beth;

As a wholistics consultant, two things immedicately come to mind that

alleviate fibromyalgia. Both can be checked in the medical records.

The first is low growth hormone. Fibro patients usually have low growth

hormone, and about 50% improve dramatically, sometimes in only a few

days, when that is corrected. What happens is then you can heal to keep

abreast of the damage. There are hundreds of HGH - sounding products out

there; however, after doing the lab work, doctors found except for HGH

injections, only one methood works reliably. That is, amino acids. More

information on HGH secretagogues and clinical references to treating

fibromyalgia with HGH:

http://members.shaw.ca/patriciagilbert/

The second is low glutathione, the body's most powerful antioxidant.

Glutathione is so important to healing because it arrests that daily

damage process referred to above, and it also breaks toxins and improves

the immune system. In addition it even chelates heavy metals that may

produce a toxin burden. When glutathione is raised in the body, CFS and

fibro often just vanish. It also reduces inflammation due to IBD and

arthritis. To see the whole list peer-reviewed studies of of glutathione

in many diseases, see: http://members.shaw.ca/widewest/GSH_medline.html

I would look into taking an antioxidant program, and also a growth

hormone enhancer. I've seen it work pretty reliably.

Contact me anytime. I have a hint for the emotional part too.

Beth – I would suggest using whole

food antioxidants – NOT all the ones made from isolated ingredients. That can sometimes do

more harm than good.

I have had fibromyalgia and did 16 weeks of Myers Cocktail

injections, which helped me tremendously. It takes about four weeks

(3 times a week) before you feel any difference.

As to supplements - you already have a good list from others. I would

just add Malic Acid.

There's some theories that Mycoplasma is a cause of some

fibromyalgia. You may want to see if you can get tested for it.

I also did diet changes (no wheat, diary, sugars, caffeine) and I

have a firm exercise program. Exercising was h*ll in the beginning -

but now it makes a huge difference.

One thing I learned that kills off your good bacteria is having mercury

toxicity in your system. It seems that is my problem. I had been taking

good bacteria for a long time and a very low level of them showed up

in a stool analysis that I had done. I am not sure what else can cause

this but there are probably other reasons.

Hi Cat!

Boy, if I did not know better, I would think you and I were the same

person. Geez!

I have Fibromyalgia, but it's undiagnosed. My doctor does not think

it's real. However, he can't explain the falling down, constant

pain or other mystery ailments. I even developed the asthma and

allergies!

I've never been a big coffee drinker, but I've given up soda and all

dairy products. I literally walked around with a sinus infection

constantly. I haven't had an asthma attack in over six months now.

I stopped taking all the medications they gave me. I weaned off

about a year ago and am going completely natural. I drink Green Tea

every day and Peppermint tea for my ulcer. I don't have a sure-fire

remedy for the constant pain yet, but I am working on it.

If you ever need someone to listen, please feel free to email me.

It's hard not feeling very well every single day. I truly

understand.

Keep shining!

mjd

I haver a problem with the rcurring sinus infection too, the stuufiness ,

runny nose and headaches can last for weeks at a time. Usually I drink warming

teas to help like ginger clove cinnamon combination, but This time it wouldn't

go away and stay gone so I opened a gotu kola capsule and sniffed it , that

worked got rid of the headache that darvocet wouldn't touch (probably caused it)

try that and some honeysuckle tea to deal with the phelgm,
