Hi Chrism,

I wanted to be included in Shaktipat, but as I am not able to detach from my

vice of tobacco intake, I wish to postpone.I feel as I am not able to leave this

dirty vice, it's of no use having Shaktipat.

I am surrendering more to tobbaco which I know I should not.........

Namaste

dear Shrikant

I hope my assertion into your reply is not an intrusion in your

correspondence with Chrism. My heart is touched by your challenge

with tobacco. Shrikant i too use to be a smoker and remember well how

it can flare an undercurrent of self abasement in one's practice and

spiritual discipline.

I was so glad to read your second email of your decision to affirm your

participation in Shaktipat. dear Shrikant if all of us waited to take

up spiritual transformation and awakening until we mastered all of our

vasanas/bad tendencies we would be like the man that stands by the

ocean shore waiting for the waves to subside before wading in. None of

us would ever get wet. If we waited till we had made everything pure

before entering the cleansing embrace of the Great Oceanic Mother our

toenails would be curled and cracked. All of us experience or have

experienced numerous festering wounds and each of us knows or have

known the infliction of self-incrementation. I don't want that for

you Shri. The only universal remedy i know is love, compassion and

radical unconditional positive regard.

Shrikant this is my heart's concern for you. I so hope you do not "

police " yourself on this issue, for our path with K Ma is teaching us;

realizing God is nothing but the ability, and expansiveness of heart, to

love everything equally. If i had a magical wand this day i would not

wisk away the addiction for tobacco, instead the wand and fairy dust

with glowing sparkles would bring forth an eternal embrace of

self-love; such as you, this very moment, now and forever beloved child

of God/dess and radiant Being.

Shri as i was thinking about your exchange with there was an old

Christian song from my childhood that jingled the mind. So many of my

old Christian beliefs have dissolved but the words in this song

expresses a teaching my heart holds dear; the surrender to that which is

Greater both within and without. For me the Lamb of God has been the

Divine Mother and her KMa purification, my own discipline with its

underlying base of " too much " or " not enough " has been puny and

insubstantial but the surrender into That which is Greater, here I am

home.

Just as I Am, Without One Plea

By: Charlotte Elliott

Just as I am, without one plea

But that thy blood was shed for me

And that thou bidd'st me come to thee

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am and waiting not

To rid my soul of one dark blot,

To thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about

With many a conflict, many a doubt,

Fightings and fears within, without,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;

Sight, riches, healing of the mind,

Yea, all I need, in thee to find,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, thou wilt receive,

Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;

Because thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just a I am; thy love unknown

Has broken every barrier down;

Now to be thine, yea, thine alone,

O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Hymn # 359 from Lutheran Worship

Author: William B. Bradbury

Tune: Woodworth

I have not smoked for twelve years now, and the grace to overcome the

tobacco addiction came in the form of a boom from a Priest (Bhattar)

from Southern India. Like you i really had struggled with the

addiction and when i realized that American tobacco companies were

putting in over 500 different additives to ensure addiction i felt

anger and there was deep resolve to renounce tobacco, but still it

called my name and i was weak. Then I surrendered it at the temple at

the Holy Feet of Ma Durga and Pundtji. That very night i experienced

the allowance of healing prayer. It was such blessing; i quit cold

turkey, did not go through any kind of withdraw, and have not had any

desire to smoke. When it comes to addictions and other forms of vasanas

the surrender into that which is Greater had been places to allow the

discrimination between self and Self.

I am learning that surrender ( just as i am, i am here ) holds such

sweet paradox. The small self with all of its failures in grasping

and attempting to let-go is also one of our greatest teachers. Failure

is a natural part of life here on planet Earth. My failures based on

the small self are ones i have needed for growth and have so often

prompted me into deeper spiritual realms of compassion and acceptance

of self and others. . Every failure brings a message of success, like

little children who fall when learning to walk, we fail on our way to

victory.

" A master of Zen archery, Kobun Chino was asked to teach a course at

the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. The target was set up on a

beautiful grassy area on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Pacific

Ocean. Kobun took his bow, notched the arrow, took careful aim, and

shot. The arrow sailed high over the target, went past the railing,

beyond the cliff, only to plunge into the ocean far below. Kobun looked

happily at the shocked students and shouted, " Bull's eye!! "

Shrikant with the commitment of your practice, your commitment to love

and service,( the safeties), your Guru within, your Guru in the form of

Chrism, and K Ma you shall hit Bull's eye my friend. I don't know when

but if you have not been able to give up smoking before you hit the

Great Ocean the tobacco will lose its fire, so until that time love you

and all.

IMHO it seems that Shaktipat is the very thing that may be blessing of

self to Self.

I send warm regards for you in failure and success.

In the rain and in the sunshine

P.S. I have thought of you often since the bombing near the German

Bakery. Many prayers for India and your city. I remember that you are

from Pune? We did not receive indepth news of it here in the States.

I have wondered why that location was chosen? If i am correct that is

near Osho's ashram. Shrikant did the terrorist chose that location

because of the spiritual location and to discourage Western devotees

into India? I have heard some expressions of concern for other

spiritual teachers and devotee sites in India and it brings sadness to

my heart. May love and peace pervail.

Shrikant Ji,

I'm so glad that someone changed your mind, we are all imperfect and we come as

we are learning Shivam perfection. The realization that you need to quit tobbaco

is appluaded.

Awesome! I would love a chance to tour as well. I will be meeting at the

seminar but would love it for him and Bradley to pass through the Seattle area.

I often daydream of just living out of a pack for the summer, just traveling.

Reminds me of the times I had in youth before I dropped in to the big money

making machine of life. I can easily live on next to nothing, foraging as I go

along. On that note, I just returned from the forest with a bag full of

fiddlehead ferns and a couple of Zeller's bolete mushrooms. I shall feast

tonight!

Love and Light,

Scott
