AATHREYA - Dr.BalaKrishna Murthy Ramaraju

1. VIKHANASA MAHAA MUNI is the fore father of Vaishnavas.

SraavaNa PoorNima is Vikhanasa Jayanthi=Birth Anniversary.

Descendents , desciples and followers of Vikhanasa Mahaa

Muni are known as Vaikhaanasas.

Vikhanasa laid down the rules , regulations and rituals to be followed

in Vaishna Temples , refered to as Vaikhaanasa Aagama Shaasthra.

Thirumala Balaji Temple is the Prime example where Vaikhaanas

Aagama Siddhaantha is followed .

Vikhanasa also is the author of Vaikhaanasa Kalpa Soothras which

dictate various Sanskaaras = Rituals to be followed by His followers .

Vaikhaanasa Aagama Shaasthra is very orthodox Vaishnavism as

compared to more liberal Sri Rangam - Sri Vaishnavism of Visishtta

Advaitha of Sri Raamanuja Aachaarya .

Other examples of Vaishnavism are Aadi Shankaraacharya Advaitham ,

Mardhvaacharya Dwaitham , Vallabhaacharya Pushtti Maarga Advaitham .

All Paths Lead To Supreme Paraabrahman = Ekam Sath = Truth Is One.

2. HAYAGREEVA UTHPATTHI : Advent of Bhagawaan Hayagreeva.

Another Significant Event that happened on ShraavaNa PoorNima is

HAYAGREEVA UTHPATHI = In carnation of Lord Vishnu as Hayagreeva

=Horse-Headed Avathar. When Lord Vishnu Taught Vedas To Brahma

in the Beginning , Brahma was inattentive , insouciant and forgetful ; these

qualities resulted in Madhu and Kaittabha who stole Vedas . Without Vedic

knowledge Brahma could not proceed with creation and was very sorry for

His lack of attention . Lord Vishnu as Hayagreeva restored Vedas to Brahma

after destroying Madhu and Kaittabha ( lack of attention , forgetfulness etc

)

3. AAPASTHAMBA - YAJURVEDA UPAAKARMA = SACRED THREAD

CEREMONY :According to Aapasthamba Mahaa Muni Shraavana PoorNima

Day is the day for Sacred Thread Ceremony , a Vedic Sanskaara laid down

in Aapasthamba Kalpa Soothras .

A Day when Brothers and Sisters exchange greetings , gifts and good wishes.

Wish All A Happy ShraavaNa PoorNima= Sarve Janaaha Sukhino Bhavanthu.

Om Shaanthi , Om Shaanthi , Om Shaanthi ; aathreya -
