Guest guest
Dear List Members, Recently, I did someone's natal chart and found an anomaly in interpreting the 9th house. The person is a Capricorn native with the 9th house afflicted by the Rahu (87%) This same person also has Mercury weak in infancy (lord of 9th) in lagna and the lagna is also afflicted by 87%. The native tells me that she is spiritually inclined. This seems logical because the lord of the 9th is in lagna. The point that is confusing to me is that I always thought that when the 9th house is afflicted, the person cannot be religious or spiritual. This is also like having Jupiter in the 12th house, isn't it? So the question is this: Can a person with the lord of the 9th in lagna be spiritual even if the 9th house is afflicted by 87%? Best regards, John Dorio
Guest guest
Hello Mr. Dorio, Certainly, the placement of the lord of the ninth in the ascendant or the influence of the lord of the ninth on the ascendant can take the person to spiritual pursuits. Rahu operating from a house does acquire the traits of the house to some extent. If Rahu is operating from the ninth house it can have a color of spiritualisation. Success, however, may be slow depending upon the strength of the ninth lord, the Sun and Jupiter. Guest guest
Dear John, You wrote that Jupiter in the 12th indicates a non-spiritual person - I know several people with this placement who are all very spiritually inclined. In fact one of them was a monk for several years..! Guest guest
Hello Mr. N K Sharma, For those born in Capricorn Jupiter is a functional malefic planet besides other planets, Sun, Rahu and Ketu. His tenth and second house MEPs are under the close influence of Rahu and Jupiter which indicate problems in his professional matters. Even the close aspect of FM Sun on MEP of second house is additional unhelpful. Jupiter's close influence on the MEP of the second and tenth houses does contribute to philosophical, spiritual and mythological knowledge. He needs continuous propitiation of his FMs Jupiter, Sun, Rahu and Ketu and also needs to strengthen his weak planets - Mars, Saturn and Venus. Rahu does it be reeling us in in the the illusion of life.
