Normally fruit bearing trees. plants attract many anti-social elements whio may

syart with the fruit and if unchecked can venture further in so not desirable

many people in the south ar against plantain trees in front of their windows

[enghbours windows actually they protest on this]

is best placed in the backyard

may be as it was a serving plate for meals and guests could not be shon they r

just being welcomed but r being welcome by prior prepration a tradition of

adhithi devo bhava no household turned out anyone without offering food in those

days

so all preperations must be within the heart and home than hunt for it back yard

is easy to pick than front

seems logical i guesss not sure of the tradition

suresh babu ji, pt arjun jic an dell on this

dear friends

as prashantji has rightly said, there is no ban on having a banana tree in one's

house. to have or have not is choice and no negative aspects as such.

banana tree consumes lot of water and also occupy lot of space and spread, hence

many people in dry areas without groundwater do not plant them.

according to ancient scriptures, banana tree is equated to devaguru briaspati or

planet jupiter so much so that a person who cannot afford a gemstone for jupiter

can wear the root of a banana tree.

banana tree as such is considered most holy which is why any function, pooja or

ritual makes these trees adorn the pandal.

during olden days some people used to believe that having a banana tree at home

is like having a guru at home and some were afraid of sacrilege etc., which is

why they opted not to keep banana trees in their houses.

banana leaf is the most sacred leaf and finds its usage in all vedic rituals.

banana leaf is also considered most holy plate to have meals in, which is why

even today many south indian hotels serve their food in banana leaves.

banana fruit is the most energetic fruit and contains more than hundred calories

of energy in each fruit and is the most inexpensive and easily affordable fruit

even by the poorest of the poor.

a peron who cannot offer any dakshina to a guru is advised to give few banana

fruits in lieu of cash or gifts.

in grihapravesa, marriage and other functions in a house one keeps two banana

plants on each side of the entrance.

since banana tree is correlated to the most auspicious planet jupiter, there is

no ban on one having it in a house but if a native has his own reservation, he

is at liberty to have his own view.

with best wishes and blessings

dear friend

even though " arka " tree is a samidha for planet sun and is also related to some

to lord ganesha, no one keeps it at home. similarly peepal too is considered

holiest and finds a natural place inside almost all temple premises and is

related to planet jupiter, yet no one keeps a peepal tree within a house.

accordingly, i say this much that there is no ban or prohibition as such to have

a banana tree in a house but do not recommend it as a remedy for jupiter by

having banana tree at home.
