Guest guest Report post Posted April 2, 2007 Dear Member: As far as I know there is no etext available yet on Ravana Samhita. I have read it (or at least I have read a version of that; who knows which version is original except the soul of the Great Ravana who wrote it!); The results given there are unique in that he has analyzed the placement of different planets in different constellations and gives certain interesting possibilities based on that. Of course, he has commented on the usual planetary aspects on each other and their placement in different signs also. Ravana samhita is an encyclopedic work covering not only astrology but also mantra shastra and rudiments of medicinal applications. There are different versions of Ravan Samhita in circulation. Try your luck by enquiring at various Indological publishers like Motilal & Banarsidas, Varanasi Press, etc. Any version is likely to give you at least rudiments of the shastra as written by Shri Ravana. May God aid you in your search. Blessed be. Pandit R.DAKSHINAMOORTHI.

Guest guest Report post Posted April 2, 2007 There are many kind of Ravan Samhitas; it is difficult for common person to differentiate the original from later creations. DPB Publications, 110, Chawdi Bazaar, Chowk Badshabullah, Delhi- 110006, Phone Nos 23273220, 23251630, 23847320 reportedly has a large collection of Ravan Samhitas. Some Ravan Samhita describes nadi text (astrology written in palm leaves specific to individuals to be born in the future written thousands of years ago – no one knows the exact period). Vaideeswaran temple in Tamil Nadu is famous for this. You will find Nadi text from saptharishis (seven rishis including sage agasthiyar) and more (sample - Nandi Nadi, Sukra Nadi, Bhujandar Nadi). In the North, the same is called Bhrigu Samhita; Ravan Samhita, Arun Samhita etc. are other forms of the same text. The languages used are colloquial and needs special translators trained for ages through their ancestral lineage. They only retain the leaves on which writing is in ancient Tamil and Sanskrit. It would be very difficult to obtain tantrik scriptures of Ravana. Though no text of Ravan Samhita is available on the net, I did manage to find Shiv Tandav Stotram. A beautiful masterpiece creation, said to be by Ravan, along with translation is attached for reading.
