Guruvayoorappa.

Punyathman,

The question is when is Vishu 2010. I must say at the outset,

that as almost always, it

is a question of dispute and the dispute is really because there

is no proper unification of Panchangas.

Different sates adopt different kinds of Panchangas; not to

speak of various Districts within each state.

We are spending crores of Rupees for sending Rockets, but we

have no money to spend for unification of

Panchangas. Sorry, I am not to blame others, but I believe that this

issue can be properly solved only when

Astronomers and Astrologers come to a table, do deep and

creative deliberations and take scientific decisions.

We have to celebrate Vishu, irrespective of the fact that any

such thing as above, occur or not.

Coming to our subject in short,  ‘Vishuval Punaykalam’or Vishu, is

the time of transit of Sun from

Meenam Rasi to Medam Rasi. This time,( ‘2010 Vishu’-on 1185

Medamasam 1/ 14th April 2010),

according to Kerala Paksha, the Sun enters Meda Rasi at 6. 58 AM

on 14th April 2010. This is called

‘Mesha Sankramam’ or ‘Mesha Sankranthi’.

The Vishu celebrations are supposed to begin with the ‘Vishukkani’

and then ‘Vishukkaineettam’ etc.

It is the first auspicious thing that takes place on that day, very

early in the morning, say at

the Brahma Muhurtham, or ideally between 4 AM and 6 AM. But, it

is necessary that the Sun should be

transited to Medam Rasi, as otherwise, it is not Vishu. So, I

would humbly say that on April 14th, 2010,

this time, the Sun comes to Medam Rasi only after 6. 58 AM. So,

we have to celebrate Vishu, this time,

only on 15th April 2010, when the Sun is in the Medam

Rasi. Now I think the doubt is almost clear.

had a " Permanent " home and address, but that is no more. As a

youth I had so many addresses but they are all gone. We had a home

(rather a flat) address in Ghatkopar, that too

is not " ours " now. While in Muscat, I had a

" home " or rather a " house " , that was rented but the

" postal mails " came to our company address. I am not sure if they

have introduced " home delivery " now. Here in USA I have no home in

my name, but we have " 3 homes " where we are welcome any time

and we are travelers. When this journey ends, I hope I will find

my " home " or " permanent HOME " .
