Dear Raghu,

I wonder if you consider anyone but yourself to be a qualified ambassador of Hindu philosophy.

What he was trying to say is hindus writing here about hinduism are considered qualified by the outside world.

My friend, I spent the last 2 hours looking through some of the posts you wrote. I can see you are very well educated. Please come to your senses. Please let go of that ego.

Ego is not a bad thing in itself.

This is not some official Hindu website.

Not for nothing the owner of this forum named this site as Indiadivine. The site is all about native indian religions in which hinduism is a predominant faith.

Words are nothing...try to feel.

When you write in forums it is the words that count.Your feelings are conveyed through your words.

"sita agni pariksha". This word in google returns 39100 hits.

Krishna kidnaps Rukmani

http://krsnabook.com/ch53.html

Arjuna wanted to lay down his arms at the beginning of the Kurukshetra war. Lord Krishna advises him about his duties. This is the beginning of Bhagavad Gita.

Now my learned friend wants everyone to believe that these never happened and wants us to study Ramayana and Mahabharata.

This is what happens when a confused Neo-Hindu Ramakrishna follower tries to represent Hinduism.

"sita agni pariksha". This word in google returns 39100 hits.

Google is not an authority on Ramayana. Ramayana is an authority on Ramayana. Tenali's accusation was that Rama "ordered Sita to walk on fire." This is false. According to the Ramayana, Sri Rama ordered Sita to be brought before him, after which He told her that she could do or go wherever she liked. Since she refused to leave the side of her husband, and seeing that her husband was not ready to take her back, she chose to immolate herself in protest. It was then that Agni pronounced her chaste.

There was no order that she be burnt as Marxist pseudo-scholars and clueless Neo-Hindus are apt to think. Nor did this have anything to do with "sati" as Indian feminists are apt to think. Read the text.

Krishna kidnaps Rukmani

http://krsnabook.com/ch53.html

Tenali's specific accusation was that, "Krishna, on the other hand, called himself brahmachari and yet abducted many women."

Krishna did not "abduct many women." He did abduct Rukmini from her marriage, after she first wrote to Him and begged Him to do so. He was a householder at that time living in Dwaaraka, not a brahmachari as Tenali falsely claimed.

Arjuna wanted to lay down his arms at the beginning of the Kurukshetra war. Lord Krishna advises him about his duties. This is the beginning of Bhagavad Gita.

Tenali's specific accusation was that Sri Krishna incited "mass murder." Warfare between willing combatants is not "mass murder."

Now my learned friend wants everyone to believe that these never happened and wants us to study Ramayana and Mahabharata.

So your point is, don't study Ramayana and Mahabharata when you can instead take things out of context by using Google?

Calling your posting stupid would be an insult to stupid people everywhere.

There are many questions regarding Hinduism specifically certain events in the Itihasas and Puranas which have been raised over centuries.

Some of the more important ones are

1. Sita's Agni Pravesam.

2. Leaving Sita in the forest in Uttara ramayana.

3. Killing of Vali.

4. Krishna's advice to Arjuna on the battle field.

5. Treatment of Karna

and so on.

Now there are many ways of handling such questions.

1. Ignore them. Not possible when you are giving a lecture on Hinduism.

2. Deny everything. Ask the questioner to read the scriptures. Blame it on the interpretations. Blame the English translation.

These two ways were adapted by the Purohit community. Any question was considered as an insult to Hinduism and The Gods.

This attitude is being adapted by some of the members of this forum. These people did it in real life also for centuries and were largely responsible for conversion of even educated people to other religions.

3. Claim that since Gods are divine, they could do no wrong.

This is the attitude of many Bhakthas. The only problem with this is that the conversation in real life will come to an end. If you are trying to convince anyone about the Hindu values, this will have a negative effect.

4. Give a reasonable answer. In the last 50 years Hindus have been able to answer these questions. When you are faced with an audience especially college students, you have to be prepared for such questions and answer them in a convincing way.

The search results regarding Sita's Agni Pravesam gives links to different web sites, which have explained this in different ways.

The answers to all the questions stated above are available in books. Some of the answers have been put up in web sites, and some in blogs.

Hindus especially the Westerners should be aware of the answers to these questions, because most of these involve a question of ethical values.

Some of the more important ones are

1. Sita's Agni Pravesam.

Answered.

2. Leaving Sita in the forest in Uttara ramayana.

Regarded by many as interpolated.

3. Killing of Vali.

Answered. See http://www.indiadivine.org/audarya/spiritual-discussions/38443-shvu-speaks.html where the relevant verse numbers are reported.

4. Krishna's advice to Arjuna on the battle field.

Answered in the form of 18 chapters known as Bhagavad-Gita. You do know Bhagavad-Gita, right?

5. Treatment of Karna

What specifically is the question?

Now there are many ways of handling such questions.

No, there is only one way of handling such questions - read the relevant texts themselves to orient yourself to the facts, and then answer based on the facts and explanations found in those texts.

Notice that "searching Google" and "asking Greek philosophers" are not among those options.

If someone asks "Why Rama asked Sita to walk on fire?" the answer is not for you to go and hide behind your insecurities. Orient yourself to the facts and correct the mistake in the questioner's assumptions first. The tired old refrain of blaming Brahmins for your own cluelessness is not doing anyone any favors. Please stop rationalizing the one-sided, false accusations of our local Christian fundamentalist. You may be ashamed of your religion and unable to answer these doubts. But your lack of conviction does not represent all of us. Many of us are perfectly capable of answering those questions, as I have already done here.

What Bagavan done, does, will do - is the Dharma, we are not have any rights to ask such a question, Because we are just Kevala Jeevatma!

And its not possible to answer this question with some few words, or para, or a book, It has so many reasons and Dharma. And simply its not a thing to ask a questions like this. The question asking ppls can go to a any Guru and clarify their doubts Instead of asking questions here. Because Wrong answer may lead wrong path.

I request to all Respected members/senior members of this forum, please do not give importance to the Stupid and Unholy post of Tenali Ram by writing comments on each other. He is certainly a non hindu trying to contaminate this Holy forum and we are helping him by fighting among ourselves.

I also request to all learned people of this forum to leave their ego , please be humble and polite.

Certainly Ram and Krishna were god but they come on earth in human body and they also follows the rules of nature and society. whatever decisions they took they might be the need of that time. as far as Ram is concerned I never heard that he slaughtered any person just because he was reciting the vedas. Tenali Ram is just posting illusive material.

kindly do not pay attention on his posting

thanks a lot.

Hare Rama/Hare Krishna

Rama asked his wife to walk on fire. This doesn't seem nice. He also slaughtered a low-caste man who was reciting the veda.

Krishna, on the other hand, called himself brahmachari and yet abducted many women. He lied throughout the Kuru war, instigated Arjuna to kill his relatives.

All this doesn't point to any divinity at all in these two blokes. Why is it we consider them on par with the Brahman described in upanishad?

Three cheers for muslim websites!

Hey why don't you pick up a book now and then? Moron.
