The world will witness a rare astronomical event- a series of triple eclipses starting July 2009. The fist in the series of triple eclipses will be a lunar eclipse on July 7 which will be followed by a solar eclipse on July 22 and then a lunar eclipse on August 6.

What does this celestial phenomenon mean to the world and does this astronomical event portend anything for us. D K Hari and his wife Hema Hari discuss the above mentioned issues in their new book, Will History Repeat Itself? Triple Eclipse of July 2009. Omnious or Promising? the book has been published as part of the Bharath Gyan series by the Sri Sri publications.

What is strange is that if one looks back at the events that have unfolded in the past, triple eclipses have always been followed by destruction. Hari told rediff.com that the first of the triple eclipses was recorded way back in 3067 BCE (Before Common Era). Following this triple eclipse there was the Kurukshethra war which was fought between the Pandavas and Kauravas in which 47 lakh people took part. The sequence of the first triple eclipse was as follows- Lunar eclipse on 29 September 3067, Solar eclipse on 14 October 3067 and Lunar eclipse on 28 October 3067 BCE.

Authors of this book are trying to make easy money by feeding into the fears of the people. People writing articles such as this are bringing bad name to India and astrology. An "eclipse season" occurs about every 173 days, and contains 2 or 3 eclipses (combined lunar and solar). For 1993 through 2020 inclusive, there are about 59 eclipse seasons, and the following ones have 3 eclipses. So about 8 out of 59 (14%) eclipse seasons have 3 eclipses, or about 8 times in 28 years (an average of once every 3.5 years). The probability of having three eclipses within a month is 14%. To interpret future doomsday scenarios from a natural phenomenon such as eclipses that occurs this frequent is irresponsible and incorrect. The letters S and L indicate whether the first (and last) in the series is solar or lunar.

When this happens, there is an eclipse (lunar or solar) which is followed by another eclipse 14 or 15 days later (solar if the first was lunar, and vice versa), and that is followed by a third eclipse 14 or 15 days later (same type as the first).

Yes I was seeing that article and authors interview on various TV channels.

 

I am not a prophet so I don't know what will happen in future. But from my reading of various scriptures, what I understand is this:

 

This world is called "mixed" that is there will be both happiness and grief coming intermittenly to every individual, family, community, society and country again and again in waves. There may not be permanent destruction or doing away with all problems in near future.

 

More importantly we have crossed the half-way mark of the 10000 years of Kali-yuga (called the golden period within kali-yuga). Now the actual knowledge will start spreading like wild-fire across the world, no country or group can stop this spreading. Probably it may start like full knowledge of body, the brain, the senses, mind and intelligence and finally about the soul itself. And each and every human will come into contact with the full and complete knowledge atleast once in his lifetime before the end of 10000 years.

 

As is expected, multiple false knowledges also will spread along with the true knowledge and no body would be able to stop them either. Even very intelligent persons may find it very difficult to analyze and decide which is true and which is false knowledge.

 

In my humble opinion the most important thing we need to do is have full faith in god and be truely honest to ourselves to find out the truth (that is not over come by greed, lust or fear). Then He will definitely lead us to the true knowledge.

 

So I think we don't worry two much about triple eclipses, 2012, 2032, astreoids, resource crunch, over population, global warming, terrorism, rapture, pole reversal, etc., etc., while many of these problems may or may not happen and may be we can do something by reducing consumption, etc., our main focus should be on this golden age and the rare chance we get to go near the truth easily (in fact it was made so easy that truth comes in search of us) and not get distracted by other thing (no bahusahka)
