Lord Varahadeva's jumping into the Garbhodaka Ocean

Below Patala is the Garbha ocean (Garbhodaka) filling half of the universe on which Garbhodakasayi Vishnu lies on Ananta Shesha and from His navel grows a lotus. In the stem of this lotus are situated all the planetary systems (SB 3.28.25)

Yet another example how the Vedas describe things gluelessly sometimes as real and sometimes as metaphorical. If there would be a real Lotus stem how Lord Varahadeva could have jumped from the higher planets into the Garbhodaka Ocean? So, such things have to be understood as metaphorical embellishment.

"Before entering the water to rescue the earth, Lord Boar flew in the sky, slashing His tail, His hard hairs quivering. His very glance was luminous, and He scattered the clouds in the sky with His hooves and His glittering white tusks."

SB 3.13.27
