Reading or chanting of 4 catur-sloki Bhagavata verses is like reading all 18,000

FOUR PRIME SLOKAS FROM SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM

(Verses 33 to 36 of Ch.9 of Canto 2)

 

 

 

The mere chanting of the following slokas will have their own abundant and blissful Trancendental sound vibrations to influence the mind and intelligence of the person who chants them for they have been taught by the LORD NARAYANA (KRISHNA) to the first living being in the creation, LORD BRAHMA in order to progress in our goal to understand and reach Krishna. Further, reading or chanting of the four stanzas tantamounts to reading all the 18,000 stanzas in Srimad Bhagavatam. Brahma inturn taught to Maharshi Narada who preached the same to his disciple Sri Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa Deva and in this way they are handed our down the line.

aham evasam evagre

nanyad yat sad-asat param

pascad aham yad etac ca

yo 'vasisyeta so 'smy aham

 

rte 'rtham yat pratiyeta

na pratiyeta catmani

tad vidyad atmano mayam

yathabhaso yatha tamah

 

 

yatha mahanti bhutani

bhutesuccavacesv anu

pravistany apravistani

tatha tesu na tesv aham

 

 

 

etavad eva jijnasyam

tattva jijnasunatmanah

anvaya-vyatirekabhyam

yat syat sarvatra sarvada

I read a verse of the Bhagavatam that says just by praising the activities of Maharaja Bharata you are guaranteed fame, forutune or whatever you desire materially and in the end you get to go back to Godhead. The 5th Canto is pretty much all I read anymore and if I was stranded on a deserted Island and could only have one book I would like the 5th canto but I also gotta admit I wouldn't mind a copy of the Urantia Book either.
