Whether Devotees of ISKON are the best devotees

 

Those devotees are really the best cream because they have realized the concept of human incarnation which is <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place>. They are not much worried about the energetic forms like Narayana which are meaningful only with respect to the souls of the upper world. But from another angle they are in the lowest state. The practical aspect of worship is service, which alone has the divine fruit. The service requires a living being and not inert object. The living being can only receive the service rendered by you. These devotees are serving the idols and photos of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> which are inert. These idols and photos serve the purpose of development of theoretical devotion in yourself which is related to mind. But mere theoretical devotion without practical aspect is useless. The theoretical devotion should result in the practical devotion and the fruit is always associated with the practical devotion only. The knowledge and devotion are like the degree and the appointment order achieved by your self. But both these cannot get you the salary unless you work in the job. The salary is given at the end of the month for the work you have done in that month.

The salary is not given to your degree or to the appointment order. The degree and the order help you to procure the work. The water and fertilizer help the plant to grow and give the fruit. The fruit is associated to the plant directly and not to the water or fertilizer. Thus, knowledge (Jnana Yoga) and devotion (Bhakti Yoga) help the achievement of the state of service (Karma Yoga). Only Karma (Work) can get the fruit directly. These devotees are not serving the present human incarnation and therefore all their service done to the statues or photos becomes waste.

Some undeserving people behind the statues or photos are benefited by such service. You can worship the devotees and preachers of this cult and in such case <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> is more pleased. The Advaitin is wrong in extending the concept of human incarnation to every human being. In this angle the Iskcon devotee is better than Advaitin because such devotee has confined this concept to a specific human being like <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place>. But when the concept of service to God comes, the Advaitin looks better than that devotee. The Advaitin is serving himself assuming that he is God. At least the living being (Advaitin himself) is served, which really receives the service.

Lord Krishna Himself stated that He will come down whenever it is necessary (Yadayadahi….Gita). In such case, why these devotees are confining to the past <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> only and why they are not searching for the present human incarnation? Do they accept Rama also as another incarnation of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> or not? They accept Rama as another human incarnation. It means more than one human incarnation of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> is accepted. Then, why not accept some other human incarnations especially when <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> told that He will come again and again whenever required? In Gita, <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> told that He should be worshipped. Since Krishna was preaching Gita to Arjuna, for Arjuna, <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> was the human incarnation of that time. For other human beings belonging to other generations, <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> means the human incarnation that is present in each generation.

Can ...if you can show me a Krishna now who can fufil this verse...Krishna also says...

 

Although I am unborn and My transcendental body never deteriorates, and although I am the Lord of all living entities, I still appear in every millennium in My original transcendental form.(Bhagavad Gita 4.6)

 

If you can show me anybody who cannot grow Old and has remain youthful despite being 70 or 80 years old, than i will proclaim he is God. Krishna was baoyt 125 years when he spoke the gita, but he did not grew old and remain youthful in the 20's.

The service requires a living being and not inert object. The living being can only receive the service rendered by you. These devotees are serving the idols and photos of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> which are inert.

 

The inertia is in your eyes and unfortunately in your speculation. If one sees the Deity as stone metal or wood that is idol worship.The pure devotees see the person Krsna who, being God, is omnipresent.

 

Devotees in sadhana bhakti may also not see Krsna but they accept His presence on the word of Vaisnava guru so they are on the way to seeing Krsna personally who stands before them.

Devotees of Krishna are the devotees. And what do you mean by ISKCON? There is the legal aspect recognized by wordly governments and then there is the absolute aspect that is beyond all that.

 

 

 

If we take the word ISKCON as it is - The International Society For Krishna Consciousness as established by Srila Prabhupada, then ISKCON means those who follow the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, be it in the Temple or ones home or on the road - The actual word ISKCON is way, way beyond the concept of an institutionalized 'religion'. There are many branches that make up Srila Prabhupada's real ISKCON movement that is hard for many to understand during these pioneering years.If ones understanding of Spiritual life is solely based on Srila Prabhupada's teachings, then that is the real ISKCON.

ISKCON is a branch of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition.

It is not a seperate religion from what millions of Hindus follow.

 

The guru parampara represents the living manifestation of Krishna.

Gaudiya Vaishnavas are not simply picture worshipers, but they worship the spiritual masters as the living representation of Krishna.

 

Krishna comes in different forms:

kṛṣṇa, guru, bhakta, śakti, avatāra, prakāśa

kṛṣṇa ei chaya-rūpe karena vilāsa

 

SYNONYMS

kṛṣṇa — the Supreme Lord, Śrī Kṛṣṇa; guru — the spiritual masters; bhakta — the devotees; śakti — the potencies; avatāra — the incarnations; prakāśa — plenary portions; kṛṣṇa — Lord Kṛṣṇa; ei chaya-rūpein these six features; karena vilāsa — enjoys.

 

 

TRANSLATION

Lord Kṛṣṇa enjoys by manifesting Himself as the spiritual masters, the devotees, the diverse energies, the incarnations and the plenary portions. They are all six in one.

 

 

Krishna says himself in Srimad Bhagavatam:

 

 

ācāryaḿ māḿ vijānīyān

nāvamanyeta karhicit

na martya-buddhyāsūyeta

sarva-deva-mayo guruḥ

 

SYNONYMS

ācāryam — the spiritual master; mām — Myself; vijānīyāt — one should know; na avamanyeta — one should never disrespect; karhicit — at any time; na — never; martya-buddhyā — with the idea of his being an ordinary man; asūyeta — one should be envious; sarva-deva — of all demigods; mayaḥ — representative; guruḥ — the spiritual master.

 

 

TRANSLATION

"One should know the ācārya as Myself and never disrespect him in any way. One should not envy him, thinking him an ordinary man, for he is the representative of all the demigods."

Actual Gaudiya Vaishnavas strictly follow sastras like the Hari-Bhakti-Vilasa by Srila Sanatana Goswami (1488-1558 CE) which describes the Vaisnava Titis, Deity worship, formalities of Vaisnava dharma, etc. In that book, Hari-Bhakti-Vilasa by Srila Sanatana Goswami you also find about the qualifications of a spiritual master, he should be an uttama-adikari, pure devotee of the Lord, someone of that calibre the whole world lines up to become his disciples. Not that some neophyte is accepted as spiritual master who causes all people he meets to ask that question, is he really a fully realized acarya? As long any so called branch of Gaudiya Vaishnavas doesnt observe that etiquette to present to the world only uttama-adikari as spiritual master, initiating guru, this branch cannot be called a genuine branch of Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition.

I don't think this topic is the place for internal Hare Krishna disputes.

None of us are qualified to make sweeping charges that there are no pure devotees in ISKCON.

Save this kind of rhetoric for the appropriate topic.

 

There are certainly many ISKCON devotees well qualified to take newcomers a good distance down the path of devotion.

 

At least they can take them to the level they are, which is a lot better than being nowhere in Krishna consciousness.

 

With the shastras and teachings of the Gaudiya acharyas there is no limit to how far a devotee can advance.

 

Krishna is looking only for sincerity, not how perfect or imperfect is the person who gives one formal initiation.

You are treating Lord as a person who perform miracle for His fame!!

The identity mark of Lord in human form is the true divine knowledge. The divine knowledge alone can be the proof of the God as per Veda. The exceptional quality of the divine knowledge (Prajnanam) is the spontaneous proof. You can experience the available highest quality of the knowledge and there is no need of any testing procedure for that. How are you selecting the Miss. World? You are experiencing the spontaneous beauty directly and there is no need of instruments to test the beauty. You are selecting the top most beauty in the available competition. If you say that some higher beauty may exist somewhere and some time in this world, the result of the competition can never be declared.

Only ugly sadists may tell like that. Gita says that the possessor of such top most knowledge that can give the most perfect guidance to the souls is God Himself (Jnanitvatmaiva…). The importance of Divine knowledge is only due to the importance of correct guidance in the spiritual path. For this the exhibition of miracle is not required. The exhibition of super power through the miracle is needed only for the low level atheists and to punish the low level devils. When a Police Officer is invited to address the college, he goes in normal civil dress. When he has to deal with criminals, he will be in the Police uniform. Even there, he will send his subordinates in the uniform to deal with the criminals. But he will not send his subordinates in uniform to address the college.

Similarly God comes to preach the Divine knowledge and sends His subordinates to exhibit miracles. Since majority is in the lower strata, the miracles have to be exhibited widely. Hence God gives the Super powers even to devils. The miracles include even the miraculous experiences in the life of any one, which prove the existence of unimaginable God.

Miracles and knowledge are the two requirements of people here in lower and higher levels respectively. Generally God meets directly the requirement of higher level. The liberated souls who are the servants of God generally meet the requirement of lower level.

The devotees of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> themselves are establishing the concept of contemporary human incarnation and they are not implementing it. They say the story of Jambavan fighting with <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place>, who was worshipping the past human incarnation (Rama) only without recognizing the human form of God present before his eyes. What is the conclusion of this story? They themselves are establishing the ignorance of Jambavan in worshipping the past human incarnation without recognizing the present human incarnation exiting before the eyes.

Finally Jambavan realized that the same God existed in the past human incarnation (Rama) and also in the present human incarnation (<st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place>). This means that the same God can come again in a different human form, which was not recognized by Jambavan for the same reason of difference in the human forms and the external qualities. I wonder how these devotees of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> who explained the story and preach the above conclusions do not practice the same and at least do not think about the search for human incarnation in the present time.

Jambavan is a bare which is famous for rigidity in catching anything. Even such Jambavan could come out of his rigid concept but our present devotees of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> (more powerful bares) are not coming out of their rigid concept of the past human incarnation. What is the use of preaching Bhagavatam without understanding the conclusions from the life history of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place>?

Please back up your personal ideas by sastric evidence. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's great concern was to entrust His confidential devotees to write books - guidelines He wants His true followers not only to read but to observe.

Maybe you should rethink the act of appointing yourself the judge, jury and executioner of all the active ISKCON devotees?

 

In case you missed it, sannyasis have always been natural spiritual masters in human society.

It is not only the right but the duty of a sannyasi to become a spiritual master and expand the movement of Mahaprabhu.

 

Why the hell did Srila Prabhupada initiate so many sannyasis if he wasn't trying to create spiritual masters for the future of the Krishna consciousness movement?

 

We need to stay out of the business of other devotees and who they accept as spiritual master.

It's not for us to judge.

 

We just judge who OUR spiritual master is.

It's not our right to judge who other devotees accept as their spiritual master.

 

If someone has faith in an ISKCON devotee, then it is none of your concern really.

You did not address my post. The point was on Deity worship. You said the Deity was inert and I said the inertness is in the eye of the beholder. Breifly, what do you say concerning this specific point.

There is something that those who are not bhakti yogis will never understand, why krsna acts in such a way with his unalloyed servants.

 

The answer is, of course, Yogamaya. Without yogamaya, there cannot be devotional service above the level of grovelling before the powerful, burning, fearful Lord, the one whom Arjuna asked Krsna to dispel at once. Arjuna has no need for Lord Nayayana of four arms, either.

 

Yogamaya is getting on the shoulders of a friend and wrestling Krsna to the ground. Yogamaya is tying Krsna to a mortar so real work can get done. Yogamaya is scolding Lord Jesus Christ because he is philosophizing with sanhedrin and late for the ride home. And yogamaya is Jambavan attacking Krsna. All of these events are caused by yogamaya, a way Krsna hides in order to please himself and his devotee.

 

Some will criticize Jambavan, but his pure bhakti is so refined that Lord Rama grants him the great benediction of meeting Lord Krsna in such a way that the intimacy involved in the sub-rasa of chivalry is the vehicle where the Goddess of Fortune, Srimati Jambavati, is presented to her eternal consort. The devotional service he performs in Krsna Lila is the ultimate perfection of the service he began as warrior assistant with Lord Ramachandra. Tell me, those who make such a comment to the effect that Jambavana is less than pure. What other personality gets to have direct contact with both Rama and Krsna in the same birth? Sri Jambavan is with a rare bunch of heroes to those who have a grasp on Yogamaya, how Krsna is able to facillitate the performance of Bhakti Yoga. How can Sri Akrura conspire against Krsna to steal a mere ornament without Krsna giving him the power to do such a thing. Akrura is always face to face with the supreme Lord, is not one of us, completely nitya siddha personality, how can maya (illusion) reach him unless the illusion is part of the Krsna road show (Yogamaya), actors on the great stage of His Appearance and disappearance.

 

As far as the question goes, this is ludicrous. Best devotees? Is there a quiz somewhere? Are medals awarded? The best devotee is not aware of your concern, let me tell you that. Lets not talk best here. Lets not talk group. If we rethink what we ask, maybe we ask for who is ones favorite devotee, who is one to look up to, to respect, to defend against offense, to serve in one of three functions (To teach, to befriend, to take instructions from). The answer to this question will give a much more satisfactory and revealing answer.

 

My favorite ISKCON devotee is Sriman Jayadvaita Swami. No reason, I just like the dude, he has character, he has an edge, hes not puffed up unnecessarily. Never met him face to face, shared only a couple of notes via internet. He be cool wit me, end of story. There are great pure devotees of ISKCON who daily post here, and they are all my heroes./ I have no trouble calling them pure devotees. A kanistha adhikari beginner is a pure devotee because he does not act outside of his realizations. He may commit offenses his bhakti performance, but this is within the definition of his status as kanistha, and the goswamis teach of a REAL STAGE of bhakti yoga practice that is offensive, yet still bhakti. All glories to the kanistha adhikari. ISKCON is also the home of many madhyama adhikaris as well, some of whom may only be acting that way to preach. I actually like ISKCON better than many alternatives Ive seen out there, who inevitably come off very right wing. But its all relative, because Im sure leaders of ISKCON run the political gambut from liberalism to the left of lumumba to regressives to the right of reagan.

 

So who is your favorite ISKCON dude (or princess)? (See, I can say that because theys me braddahs and sistahs, even though I ran away when I was young).

You did not address my post. The point was on Deity worship. You said the Deity was inert and I said the inertness is in the eye of the beholder. Breifly, what do you say concerning this specific point.

The atheist says that God does not exist. For him God is nothing i.e., vacant space. This is the first stage. When he sees miracles he becomes the believer in God. He accepts God as some power or energy. The power or energy is also formless, like vacant space. So the concept of God is near to his previous concept and thus the atheist (Scientist) accepts the formless (Nirakara) God very easily. The third stage is God with form (Sakara). In this stage statues in the human form are introduced. The training is given to do the sixteen upacharas (services) to these statues in human form. This training indicates that they have to worship the God in human form in this way. The sixteen upacharas are actually related to the human form only. For eg: the first upachara ‘Aavahanam’ means invitation corresponds to the human being only and not to inert statue. The statue in the temple is better than the statue in your house.

Why? Because in the temple the ‘Pranaprathista’ i.e., initiation of life is done to the statue. This again indicates that you have to worship the statue with life. The concept is the inert statue plus life is equal to human being. Therefore in the temple the statue indicates that you have to worship the statue with life i.e., the human form of God only. Unless your egoism and jealousy are completely destroyed you cannot accept the human form directly. Like this when you are travelling from vacant space to formless energy or power then you are accepting the human form but without life which is a statue in your house. In the same stage you are accepting the statue plus life in the temple, which means only a living human form. Finally you are catching the God in the present living human form. Whatever I preached here is having the best practical proof. Hanuman, the greatest of the human beings in this world worshipped Rama only who was a living human being in his time. He did not go down i.e.; he never meditated upon the formless God or the statues. In Valmiki Ramayana such things are not mentioned. He never worshipped even previous human incarnations like ‘Vamana’. He worshipped only the human incarnation present in his generation.

Similarly Radha never worshipped ‘Rama’ but worshipped only <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> who was the human incarnation of her generation. As per Bhagavatham Radha also never worshipped the statues or the formless God. Hanuman became Brahma and Radha became the queen of the 15<sup>th</sup> World ‘Goloka’. Nobody in this world will attain a better position than these two. So your spiritual journey must end in recognizing the human incarnation of God present in your generation. God is impartial and so He comes down in human form in every generation. If you say Lord Krishna is only the latest incarnation, then that generation was blessed and God became partial. Therefore God is coming in human form in every human generation. People are not recognizing Him because after the incarnation of <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> the egoism and jealousy are growing continuously in all the human beings. The man did not recognize the God coming in human form after <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place>. After <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> and before ‘Kalki’ is ‘Kaliyuga’. Due to the influence of the ‘Kali’ people are full of egoism and jealousy and so they cannot recognize the human form of God in ‘Kaliyuga’.

God comes in different human forms in the same time in various levels for the sake of devotees in various levels. He comes as a schoolteacher for the school students, as a lecturer for the college students and as a Professor for the post graduate students. Since the school students and college students are large in number he comes down as a number of schoolteachers and college lecturers. Such incarnations are called as ‘Amsavataras’, which mean the incarnations of a small portion of His power. The incarnation of His radiation is called ‘Kalavatara’ which is the formless God like light worshipped by some believers. The light travels as waves and the Siva Linga in the temple represents this formless God. Since the Post graduation students are less in number only one professor comes down and He is the ‘Pari poorna tamavathara’ i.e., the most complete incarnation, which reveals the final true knowledge. He is called ‘Satguru’ or the original Datta in the human form.

Datta exists in two forms. 1) The three headed form. 2) One headed form. The three headed form indicates ‘<st1:place w:st="on">Para</st1:place> brahma’ (God) who creates, rules and destroys the Universe by His three faces. If the professor is god, and so is the student when he learns what the professor knows, then why is the professor teaching. God means full of complete knowledge, if not, then god has no meaning.

 

A true professor tells we are not god, that by thinking we are is the main reason for our ultimate position of being in illusion. God does not come under illusion. Krsna defeats all you folks by telling Arjuna that their difference is that Krsna remembers, but Arjuna forgets. If this difference between God and man is ludicrously disregarded, then there is no theology. Theology means the study of God, not some professor of knowledge or any student of phony Paundraka professors. Your thesis is diametrically opposed to the conclusion of bhagavad gita, therefore, who cares what you or your professors think. Krsna remembers, we forget, krsna is the source of both rememberance and forgetfulness, therefore, he gives us what we ask for. If we want to think that man becomes god by some yoga, krsna will aloow this forgetfulness of ones real swarupa siddhi, but this is not what he is telling Arjuna. He demonstrates how He is God, and never indicates that Arjuna will also become God. This is not bad news for Arjuna, because he wants neither God nor Man. He wants to trip around with Krsna, do all the fun stuff warriors do. Gods for when ya gotta go to church to purge the black spots from your soul in bloody ritual, and ya leave Him there when ya feel all good about yourself again.

The atheist says that God does not exist. For him God is nothing i.e., vacant space. This is the first stage. When he sees miracles he becomes the believer in God. He accepts God as some power or energy. The power or energy is also formless, like vacant space. So the concept of God is near to his previous concept and thus the atheist (Scientist) accepts the formless (Nirakara) God very easily. The third stage is God with form (Sakara). In this stage statues in the human form are introduced. The training is given to do the sixteen upacharas (services) to these statues in human form. This training indicates that they have to worship the God in human form in this way. The sixteen upacharas are actually related to the human form only. For eg: the first upachara ‘Aavahanam’ means invitation corresponds to the human being only and not to inert statue. The statue in the temple is better than the statue in your house.

Why? Because in the temple the ‘Pranaprathista’ i.e., initiation of life is done to the statue. This again indicates that you have to worship the statue with life. It seems that you have not understood the spiritual principles.

 

Nobody can never understand God, becasue the absoulte God is unimaginable and inmprohensible and beyond logic. Such GOD gives His presence to us through a human body, and He is known as the Human incarnation. By recognising Him you have only experienced Him, but not understood Him. The identity mark of Lord in Human form is the infinite ture divine knowledge, which removes your ingnorance and induces love on Him.

 

The human form of God is the only relevant medium of God for human beings. To speak this point completely, the contemporary human incarnation is the only way which can respond to your doubts and guide you in the correct spiritual path. The energetic forms exist in this time also but they are not in this world. The past human incarnations existed in this world but do not exist in this time. Due to these two limitations, they can be represented only by statues or photos indirectly. Such statues and photos cannot guide you and also cannot give you the experience of God as a living form.

These also cannot give the satisfaction of receiving your worship directly. You can find all the energetic forms of God and all the past human incarnations in the present alive human form of God. You can only find the past in the present but not the reverse. You can see the face of grand father in the face of grand son but not vice-versa. The same God exists in the present human incarnation. The present human body of God also consists of the same components (Matter, energy and pure awareness). Only the form of the body which is unreal differs. In fact, there are no direct photographs of the energetic forms and there are no direct photographs for almost all the past human incarnations.

The forms presented by the statutes and photos are only imagined by certain artists. Even from this view also the forms are unreal. I do not know why people are so blind to cling to the doubly unreal forms of God. The only reason is the egoism and jealousy which are very difficult to be conquered. At least you treat the present human incarnation as a devotee and a messenger of God and accept Him as your guide. Mohammad called Himself as a messenger of God only.

There is nothing wrong in this. The knowledge given by Mohammad was treated as the knowledge of God only and Muslims follow it strictly and get divine fruits. Jesus also declared Himself as a divine messenger only, but He revealed Himself as God to a few deserving devotees. That information leaked out and the majority rebelled against Him. <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> never told to anyone that He was even the messenger. He behaved like an ordinary human being with some divine qualities which were common to several divine human beings in that time. <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> revealed Himself as God vehemently to Arjuna only in the context of certain divine purpose only. Whether the human incarnation is God or messenger, it is immaterial for the devotees. It is sufficient if the devotees believe that the knowledge given by the messenger is from God and follow it.

When the devotees analyze the knowledge and practice it, they will conquer their jealousy and egoism and finally realize that the messenger Himself is God. If the jealousy and egoism are not conquered, the devotees may think that the knowledge given by the messenger is an intellectual interpretation of scriptures so that the messenger Himself manages to fit Himself in the position of the God. But in course of time when the egoism and jealousy are fully conquered they will realize the truth. When such misunderstanding comes, they can themselves analyze the analysis and interpretation of the messenger with their own logic and find out whether it is truth or a twist given by the messenger with selfish motive.

However, they should take long time to analyze the messenger, since several false incarnations exist just for the sake of fascination of the position of the God. The capability of the correct spiritual guidance decides the final truth. One should be very very careful to decide the human form of God (Datta) because Datta is becoming your Satguru to guide you in the spiritual path which is the most important eternal aspect of the fate of the soul. You should not be hasty in this aspect because it is going to decide your eternal divine future.

Without addressing how successful in attaining its goals ISKCON has been, let's look at some of its ideals.

 

ISKCON could be considered the McDonald's (or IHOP) of Gaudiya Vaishnava.

 

ISKCON, through standardization of liturgy, scripture, etc., has established a well-recognizable brand of Krishna Consciousness.

 

Just as the Big Mac will taste pretty much the same (I'm taking this on faith, since I've never actually tried one) whether you're in Paris or Beijing, similarly, one can walk into just about any ISKCON temple and observe a similar course of worship.

 

With formal courses of study, such as the Bhakti Shastri degree, ISKCON has fostered the noble objective of giving each follower a consistent foundation in the core scriptures of the faith.

 

By having some formal requirements for the various initiations, there is an attempt at instituting some sort of "quality control".

 

Of course, as with most endeavors (especially sourcing foodstuffs from China--these days), quality control is the all-important determining factor in the enterprise's success.

Sripad Bhakti Sudhir Goswami Maharaj gave a wonderful lecture pointing out how brilliant the name "International Society for Krishna Consciousness" is.

 

Maharaja pointed out that "Sri Krishna Chaitanya" literally means "Krishna Consciousness", so, the name ISKCON is simultaneously glorifying both Sri Krishna and his Incarnation as Sriman Mahaprabhu.

God can do whatever God pleases--and that includes eating sweet rice in His form as Arca-Vigraha. God can certainly accept our offerings made via deity, mental image, or any other sincere form.

 

Guru is as good as God. Guru doesn't claim to be God, but the faithful disciple sees him as God for all intents and purposes.

 

Do you understand this? If so, there's no need to continue rambling.

 

The Gaudiya Vaishnavas are not without their living God. Guru is here in so many wonderful forms, and, through the grace of Guru, the Lord is appearing in so many wonderful Arca-Vigrahas to accept the service of the sincere.

When I say that I am the human incarnation of Lord Datta there are three types of people here. The first type of people is highest devotees and has conquered egoism and jealousy. For them the Lord pervades this human body as the wire is pervaded by the current. For them Advaita (Monoism) is suiting to their psychology and they can digest this. In fact they wanted to see, touch, talk and live with the Lord. To satisfy them the Lord came down and He is satisfying their desire through this Advaita. For them Lord Datta and Myself are one and the same.

The second type of people who conquered egoism and jealousy to certain extent and or my devotees need the ‘Visishta Advaita’, which speaks that the human incarnation is a spark of the Lord, who is the infinite fire. This philosophy speaks about part (Sesha) and whole (Seshi). The spark is qualitatively same as the fire and thus satisfies their devotion, but the spark is quantitatively different from the fire and this aspect satisfies their partial egoism and jealousy.

The third type of people is full of egoism and jealousy. For their psychology Dvaita should be exposed. For them the human incarnation is just two in one system. This human body is like the house and the Lord is dwelling inside this house as its owner. The house i.e., Myself is completely different from the house owner i.e., the Lord. No importance need be given to the house when the king comes and resides in a house. When there is no importance to this external human body their egoism is completely satisfied.

The first type of people bows to the temple from outside and they feel that they have bowed to the inner statue through the temple. The second type of people respect the temple to some extent and bow to the statue standing in the main door of the temple. The third type of the people do not care for the temple and feel that the temple is as good as their house. They go inside the temple and bow directly to the statue.

Gita said “Manusheem Tanum Aasritam”, which means that the Lord dwells in the human body in the case of human incarnation. This is Dvaita to satisfy the third type of people who are in majority in this world.

Gita also exposed ‘Visishtha Advaita’ to the second type of the people (Mama Tejomsa Sambhavam). Gita also spoke Advaita for the first type of people (Aham Aatma, Mattah parataram). If Advaita is preached to the third type of people, problems araise, which are mentioned in the same verse (Avajaanantimam). Thus Gita contains the total knowledge.

The Human incarnation is clearly mentioned in Vedas as ‘Vivrunute Tanoom’, which means that the Lord will reveal Himself to the devotees through the human body. Again Veda says “Yat Saakshaat Aparokshaat”, which means that the Lord appears before you and is not present somewhere else. The path of sacrifice of work (Karma Sanyasa) is mentioned by both Vedas (Kurvanneveha) and Gita (Kuru Karmaiva). The another part of the path, which is the sacrifice of the fruit of the work (Karmaphala Tyaga) is praised by Vedas (Thyakthena, Dhanena Tyagena) as well as by Gita (Phalam Tyaktva, Karma Phala Tyaagee). Whatever is found in Gita must exist in Vedas because Vedas are the cows and Gita is the milk milked from the cows.

A devotee referred to a story of a devoted boy by whose innocent devotion, the statue became live God and ate the offered food. Swami replied: several people create Stories. I do not think that this is possible because no sincere devotee who can tell only the truth can say like this in spite of hectic devotion. There is no end to these stories. But you can draw a very good conclusion from this story. This means that the statue never eats the food. The statue has to be converted in to human form to eat the offered food. This finally means that the human form of God alone can eat the offered food and therefore the real service can be done only to the human form and not the statue.

In the story the devoted boy has taken the correct meaning of Nivedanam which is offering food to God. He proved that the daily offering of food to God done by his father was not correct and he taught the truth to his father. Of course, God has the super power to eat the food even through the statue without converting the statue in to human form. Such special type of eating or conversion of statue in to human form involves the unnecessary use of the special super power because God is available in human form to eat the food offered by you.

I want to guard against becoming a smug (well more smug than I already am) person, but Param-Gurudev has expressed that, yes, the Lord has given all these different philosophies. They are all real and they are all good.

 

What purpose do they serve, though? According to Srila Sridhar Maharaja, many of the philosophies we see serve to segregate the most fallen from the less fallen. In this way the less-fallen can make some spiritual progress without being distracted by the thrashings of the most fallen.

 

So, yes, you are an incarnation of somebody or something, and, at the same time, I find you worthy of laughter and derision.

 

Let me be the first to greet your claims of divinity (beyond the divinity that is each jiva-soul) with a hearty guffaw!!!

For them the Lord pervades this human body as the wire is pervaded by the current. For them Advaita (Monoism) is suiting to their psychology and they can digest this. In fact they wanted to see, touch, talk and live with the Lord. To satisfy them the Lord came down and He is satisfying their desire through this Advaita. For them Lord Datta and Myself are one and the same.

The second type of people who conquered egoism and jealousy to certain extent and or my devotees need the ‘Visishta Advaita’, which speaks that the human incarnation is a spark of the Lord, who is the infinite fire. This philosophy speaks about part (Sesha) and whole (Seshi). The spark is qualitatively same as the fire and thus satisfies their devotion, but the spark is quantitatively different from the fire and this aspect satisfies their partial egoism and jealousy.

The third type of people is full of egoism and jealousy. For their psychology Dvaita should be exposed. For them the human incarnation is just two in one system. This human body is like the house and the Lord is dwelling inside this house as its owner. The house i.e., Myself is completely different from the house owner i.e., the Lord. No importance need be given to the house when the king comes and resides in a house. When there is no importance to this external human body their egoism is completely satisfied.

The first type of people bows to the temple from outside and they feel that they have bowed to the inner statue through the temple. The second type of people respect the temple to some extent and bow to the statue standing in the main door of the temple. The third type of the people do not care for the temple and feel that the temple is as good as their house. They go inside the temple and bow directly to the statue.

Gita said “Manusheem Tanum Aasritam”, which means that the Lord dwells in the human body in the case of human incarnation. This is Dvaita to satisfy the third type of people who are in majority in this world.

Gita also exposed ‘Visishtha Advaita’ to the second type of the people (Mama Tejomsa Sambhavam). Gita also spoke Advaita for the first type of people (Aham Aatma, Mattah parataram). If Advaita is preached to the third type of people, problems araise, which are mentioned in the same verse (Avajaanantimam). Thus Gita contains the total knowledge.

The Human incarnation is clearly mentioned in Vedas as ‘Vivrunute Tanoom’, which means that the Lord will reveal Himself to the devotees through the human body. Again Veda says “Yat Saakshaat Aparokshaat”, which means that the Lord appears before you and is not present somewhere else. The path of sacrifice of work (Karma Sanyasa) is mentioned by both Vedas (Kurvanneveha) and Gita (Kuru Karmaiva). The another part of the path, which is the sacrifice of the fruit of the work (Karmaphala Tyaga) is praised by Vedas (Thyakthena, Dhanena Tyagena) as well as by Gita (Phalam Tyaktva, Karma Phala Tyaagee). Whatever is found in Gita must exist in Vedas because Vedas are the cows and Gita is the milk milked from the cows.

An ignorant person neglects Mahatma Gandhi seeing his cheap cloth. He cannot estimate the real value of Gandhi. He will give lot of value to a cinema actor who is in a colorful dress. Similarly when the Lord comes in the human body, which follows all the rules of the nature, an ignorant person insults Him seeing the ordinary human body, since he does not recognize the value of the internal form. This is told in Gita (Avajaananti Mam Mudhaah). The Lord can make His body to be divine and above the rules of nature by His super power. But He does not do this because He does not like to violate the rules of nature, since He is the creator of those rules. One will not generally contradict His own rule and insult himself.

An ordinary soul in the form of Yogi or a demon frequently exhibits his body to be beyond the rules of the nature because he is not insulted since he is not the creator of the rules of the nature. By such petty miracle the ignorant person believes such Yogi or demon as the Lord. The Lord is the ruler of Yogis (Yogeeswara). Once a saint walked on the river but Shri Rama Krishna Parahamsa who is the human incarnation of the Lord came by a boat paying one rupee. The Saint proudly told Shri Paramahamasa that he obtained the power to walk on the water by Sadhana for the past thirty years.

The saint asked Paramahamsa whether He did such tedious Sadhana in His life. Paramahamsa told simply with a smile that the cost of his thirty-year-old Sadhana is one rupee!! And that He never did such cheap Sadhana. Arjuna prostrated to the feet of Lord Krishna before all the soldiers without egoism and jealousy. <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> was a human being like Arjuna. Moreover <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> is only the driver where as Arjuna is the owner of the chariot. Arjuna recognized the value of the internal form of Lord Krishna and therefore <st1:place w:st="on">Krishna</st1:place> revealed His inner form as Viswa Roopa to Arjuna. Therefore those people who get rid of jealousy and egoism can only give the value to the human incarnation.

You are so very, very confused. The universe is one giant contradiction.

 

The "rules of nature" are being violated continuously. Even science can demonstrate this (quantum behavior violates Newtonian mechanics).

 

"God's will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven."

 

Presuming to know the Sweet will of the Lord reveals you for the fool that you are.
