Is God Shiva brilliantly white in appearance?

Because most ofd the pictures depict Him as a dark blue tone, but i

thought only His throat is blue?

Can someone tell me instances where devotees of the Lord have said

that He is white, perhaps show-white in colour?

I ask because i would like to have a mental image to worship God.

Thanks.

Dear Shriyash, It may be a matter of personal preference but I find

the Shivlingam to be a very fascinating object. I can look at it for

a long time - because everything about it is so unique and imposing.

Maybe you can try meditating upon the Shivlingam.

Hai,

I too have the same thought. In "Thevaaram" songs

in Tamil, Lord Shiva is described as "Ponnaar Meniyan"

which means his complexion is like that of gold. Most

pictures of South India dipict him in this golden tone

only.

I have attached some pics.

Thanks & Regards,

Bala......

I am of same opinion as Charu Jagat. God Shiva and Goddess Kali appears in cosmic blue color (complete body in blue color). But we should not limit ourselves to accept appearence only in cosmic blue color. Source : Lectures by Learned Saints

I also think the colour in which Lord chooses to appear to a particular devotee depends on the blessing he is giving ....... the energy he is introducing ....... and offcourse the consciousness level of the devottee.

I also have a question for the group........What is the significance of a white shivaling?
