Avatara and incarnation have the same meanings only AVATAR is in sanskrit

and incarnation is a rough english translation. AVATARA means Who Descends

(from the spiritual World). AVATARA's are either expansions of Lord Sri

Krishna or of His expansions or they are EMPOWERED living entities endowed

with special potencies of the Lord.

An EXPANSION of the Lord is called SVAMSA and means a partial or complete

form of Lord Sri Krishna. Narayan is 93% complete and Lord Sri Krishna is

100% complete. Lord Sri Krishna also has identical expansions for different

purposes and partial expansions that are having almost the same potency.

The Lord and His expansions are all the same One absolute personality of

Godhead in different forms. The Lord is described as Ananta-Rupam or as

having unlimited forms. EAch seperate from is an expansion.

I hope this clears things up.

I hope that this finds you in good health.

Your ever well wisher,

Jayapataka Swami
