Our former Temple President....

....how to preach to our former TP, Varahadeva das, to again come back to the path of bhkati-yoga?

Varahadeva das is something like a real intelligent scientist, presently working with other scientists associated with THE INSTITUTE FOR NEW ENERGY

holding seminars and writing books about "Basics&Practice of Free Energy". Here just one example, the development of a magnet motor which moves without external energy supply.

"The rotor has stacked magnets half way around the perimeter. The platform has graduated stacked magnets mounted halfway around it's perimeter. How it works: The motor is mounted vertically. The perimeter magnets pull the rotor up hill. When the first magnet on the rotor passes the last perimeter magnet, gravity and the perimeter magnets complete the cycle. In tests this motor would not turn continuously without an external force."

"By adding a small coil, the gap can be overcome to make the rotor turn 360 degrees. When this motor was tested, the coil was not used for power collection. There is a good chance a coil in the center of the rotor for power collection might provide enough power to pulse the rotor. This design has been tested and proven but it leaves room for much more testing and magnet configurations. Cheap magnets were used in testing. I recommend low power magnets."

In sum that's what Varahadeva das is presently interested in, alternative free energy. But what does sastra say, dont waste this valuable human form of life to improve our material situation. Srila Prabhupada would often quote Canakya Pandit that one moment of time, even if you have so much wealth, still you cannot buy that moment back. When it's gone, it's gone. With both the rising and setting of the sun, another day is lost. One is closer to death, except one who hears the glorification of the all-good Supreme Personality of Godhead. So time is so important. And noone knows how much time we have left. To use whatever time is available in this human form of life to pursue the goal is the real business of life.

Sometimes we do not see how important and necessary it is to use every bit of time for Krsna consciousness. As devotees sometimes we take life for granted, yes, I am young. But who knows how much time you have left?

But what to say to a former TP like Varahadeva das, who believes of performing important research for humanity and gave up the path of bhakti-yoga? When googling on his material name, Wolfgang Wiedergut, 13.000!!! entries show up!

No offense, but why do you care what he does to earn a living? You don't have to live in the temple and be a "devotee" to perform bhakti-yoga.

So to follow shastra, one should live in caves and starve for most part of the time and die by disease by the time one hits 30.

How many people do you know who are following Shastra the way you are putting it?

Cheers

One doesn't need to live in a cave, but one should be content with a simple life, and slowly decrease one's "needs" as one progresses in spiritual sadhana.

the fact that he's working in a job that will affect pretty much the entire population of the planet is pretty noble i think. And i agree with the guest - you don't have to live in a temple to be angaged in bhakti. In truth, how much do you know of what is really going on in his heart and how much he loves Krsna? On Krsna and Krsna alone knows that. That is a private relationship and nobody else's business. (no offense intended!)

That's all really true! We can never know what Krishna's plan is for each one of us. Varahedeva surely will never forget the bliss of chanting Hare Krishna since that's the only way to wake up our sleeping souls and become free from identifying with this material body/false ego. His website is http://bindu.ufo.at/ . I think it would be nice if he gets some encouraging e-mails by the devotees.
