Guest guest Report post Posted June 11, 2001 Dear Srimathi Srivatsan: To my knowledge , there are no web sites on VaishNavA baby names . Some of the sources however are: 1. Selected names from Sri VishNu Sahasra Naamam 2. Selected names from Sri Lakshmi Sahasra Naamam 3. The names of the 108 dhivya dEsa EmperumAns & Piraattis. Srinidhi 6. Vishnu Srivats Please do explain the sukshma of Niyantha, Hayagreev & Giridhar. Also, is it a must to follow the Nakashatra naming protocol for Iyengars? Thanks, Deeptha Echampati

aditya g m sastry 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2008 dear deeptha I would suggest u name him Sudarshana or even Srivatsa or Srinatha. Giridhara rfers to Krishna holding the giri to save the residents of gokula. Hayagreeva refes to Vishnu as god of knowledge with athe face of a horse. If you want to name him 'visist' it is good but do name him 'vasistha' as 'visist' sound out of place and very north indian. Vasistha maharishi himself would not like 'visist'. All the best with your child and 'ayushmanbhava' to him.
