bhaskararAya says, "kraantva tishhThatiiti kaashhTheti nairuktaaH" and goes

on to quote a verse from shruti "atyatishhThadashaangulam" and a verse from

smRti (giita) X-42.

The word kraantva comes from the root kram. Which goes to form words like

(kraamati, kramate, kraamyati, cakraama, cakrame, akramiit, akrasta,

kraanta) [apte dictionary]. It has many shades of meaning such as cover,

envelop, etc. Hence, the dictionary definition says, after pervading all and

She stands beyond that as well, hence She is known as kaashhTha (loose

translation).

There are two ideas here, a) She envelops all and b) She is beyond that too.

Now if you turn your attention to shruti, read the first few verses of

purushha suuktam. There are some translations on the net. There it says that

He enveloped all that is in the world and its beings, yet he stands apart

from that by 10 inches (that he is beyond that). It also he made this

manifested cosmos with with one quarter of himself and the rest is in the

state of amRtattva. Reading a good translation of purushha suktam (first few

verses which also has atyatishhThadashangulam) will help you. BhaskararAya

does not explicitly say sve.upa. He simply says "atyatishhTadashaangulam iti

shruteH" and this dashaangulam is interpreted in few ways. I think, he had

purushha suuktam in mind.

Now coming to giita quote. Krishna says that he stabilizes and maintains

this Universe with a little (one part) of himself and rest of his nature is

unaffected by it. You can read the details of X-42 from giita supersite.

(today ashhaaDha navaraatri starts, wish you all a happy navaraatri)

Thanks

One among many verses from Abhirami Andhaathi giving same meaning

Ondrai Arumbi palavai virindhu ivvulengemai

Nindraal anaithaiyum neengi nirpaal -endhan nenjin ulle

pondraathu nindru poligindrava - ipporularvaar

andru aalilaiyul thuyindra pemmanum em ayyanume

She manifests into a One form and then takes many and pervades the whole universe, and yet she stand away from them all, but she took abode in my mind as a golden light - the meaning/secret of this is known only to the god who slept on Banyan tree leave (lord Krishna - vishnu) and our beloved Shiva.

Vishnu - is considered as the form of Goddess - ref: Umaiyalal Hariyillai - Thevaram. and also ref: Lord Dharma Saastha - son of Shiva and Vishnu.

So, Vishnu knows because it is her form only.

Shiva knows because Shiva Shakthi is Abedham (No dual).
