Kateri Amman

Good Morning everyone. this is my firt time posting in this group. I

would like to know is anybody know anything aboth the goddess Kateri

Amman. Where my family come from which is Guyana, South America her

worship still goes on which came from India. She is said to have a

black complexion and she always have to wear a black sari. We refer

to her as little mother.She is worshiped next to Mother Ganga because

it is believed that both of them give children to women. Kateri amman

is given alchol, cigarettes, and animal sacrfice which mostly are

black chicken or black goats. She always come in a trance in a

persons body.I have read about a goddess called Peryachi amman and

she sounds very much like her but i'm not sure if that's her.If

anybody knows anything please write back because i will really like

to know about her.

 

P.S: this is a site of how Kateri amman would look like in statue

form in Guyana.

I only know of two forms, Kateri ma and Parmeshwari ma. It may be similar. Here is an example why. A dog in america barks like a dog, now a dog in africa, australia and china bark the same! But people in every different country speak a different language. For all the languages on earth, that how many different words there are for god. So it may be the same, but just named differently. i know alittle about kateri because i am still learning

but kateri maa is very powerfull but i worship her

in sadha form which means no animals are

offered ook

so i must offer her mostly black items she is

mostly worshiped by the sea or by a spring

black jhandi is offered to her mantra is

om shrim hrim klim katari shakti namah do

the jaap for her 10000 times offer 10% of

that in havan (she likes grit coconut in havan)

offer 10% of that in dhaar (devi dhaar) she

also likes coconut flowers and spring water

in her puja or if u are doing it by urself u

can use it to offer neem leafs and arahul

flowers as well as lapsi and sohari. she

helps with marriage,sickness and for

getting children i practice in trinidad

and i do her full puja as well i have

seen the power and happiness she

puts in people's lives thank for reading

as i say i am not an expert but

everything that i do for her i see

great results remember there are

many paths to reach one distination

Hi just read your message on kateri amman.

 

Our family deity is kateri amman. As you mentioned she is not black or wear black clothing etc. She is a beautiful goddess who loves her devottees and children very much. Her temple is near Aranthangi in Pudukottai district of Tamil nadu, India.
