  1. It is us who can do good with it. Hinduism is not going to do anything until you put it in practice. but by your question, you are trying to ask, what has hinduism done for the Indians? Well, for one set of Indians such as RamaKrishna paramahamsa, Vivekananda, Chaitanya mahaprabhu & Goswamis, and many more others, it has given them a life of pure bliss because they were putting it in practice. On the other hand, many people have to get the courage of putting it in practice. /images/graemlins/smile.gif In reality, any religion can do 'good' if you let it to...it is your choice to choose the path that you like best for you to return to Krishna. I have personally experimented all the religions and have found hinduism to work for me... it may or may not be the case with you. hmm... a combination of buddhist teachings and Gaudiya teachings does lead to a very pleasant and happy life. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
  2. Does any one know what I am talking about... the new york times has a fraud reporter.... they were cheating people by reporting made up news... and partial truth etc. If we can't trust the "supposedly most trust worthy" who shall we trust!?! oh yeah for the people who haven't heard this ... ____ Times Reporter Who Resigned Leaves Long Trail of Deception staff reporter for The New York Times committed frequent acts of journalistic fraud while covering significant news events in recent months, an investigation by Times journalists has found. The widespread fabrication and plagiarism represent a profound betrayal of trust and a low point in the 152-year history of the newspaper. The reporter, Jayson Blair, 27, misled readers and Times colleagues with dispatches that purported to be from Maryland, Texas and other states, when often he was far away, in New York. He fabricated comments. He concocted scenes. He lifted material from other newspapers and wire services. He selected details from photographs to create the impression he had been somewhere or seen someone, when he had not. And he used these techniques to write falsely about emotionally charged moments in recent history, from the deadly sniper attacks in suburban Washington to the anguish of families grieving for loved ones killed in Iraq. In an inquiry focused on correcting the record and explaining how such fraud could have been sustained within the ranks of The Times, the Times journalists have so far uncovered new problems in at least 36 of the 73 articles Mr. Blair wrote since he started getting national reporting assignments late last October. In the final months the audacity of the deceptions grew by the week, suggesting the work of a troubled young man veering toward professional self-destruction. Mr. Blair, who has resigned from the paper, was a reporter at The Times for nearly four years, and he was prolific. Spot checks of the more than 600 articles he wrote before October have found other apparent fabrications, and that inquiry continues. The Times is asking readers to report any additional falsehoods in Mr. Blair's work; the e-mail address is retrace@nytimes.com. Every newspaper, like every bank and every police department, trusts its employees to uphold central principles, and the inquiry found that Mr. Blair repeatedly violated the cardinal tenet of journalism, which is simply truth. His tools of deceit were a cellphone and a laptop computer — which allowed him to blur his true whereabouts — as well as round-the-clock access to databases of news articles from which he stole. The Times inquiry also establishes that various editors and reporters expressed misgivings about Mr. Blair's reporting skills, maturity and behavior during his five-year journey from raw intern to reporter on national news events. Their warnings centered mostly on the errors in his articles. His mistakes became so routine, his behavior so unprofessional, that by April 2002, Jonathan Landman, the metropolitan editor, dashed off a two-sentence e-mail message to newsroom administrators that read: "We have to stop Jayson from writing for the Times. Right now." After taking a leave for personal problems and being sternly warned, both orally and in writing, that his job was in peril, Mr. Blair improved his performance. By last October, the newspaper's top two editors — who said they believed that Mr. Blair had turned his life and work around — had guided him to the understaffed national desk, where he was assigned to help cover the Washington sniper case. By the end of that month, public officials and colleagues were beginning to challenge his reporting. By November, the investigation has found, he was fabricating quotations and scenes, undetected. By March, he was lying in his articles and to his editors about being at a court hearing in Virginia, in a police chief's home in Maryland and in front of a soldier's home in West Virginia. By the end of April another newspaper was raising questions about plagiarism. And by the first of May, his career at The Times was over. A few days later, Mr. Blair issued a statement that referred to "personal problems" and expressed contrition. But during several telephone conversations last week, he declined repeated requests to help the newspaper correct the record or comment on any aspect of his work. He did not respond to messages left on his cellphone, with his family and with his union representative on Friday afternoon.
  3. guest whats with the insulting ...
  4. It is true that Islam took a really bad turn in its brief history... its not like even 2000 years. anyway, they should try to realize the truth and change their views and morals. so sad, they are all in delusion /images/graemlins/frown.gif

  9. Anyway, i am a hindu, and why would i reply the first post if I wrote it?? However, even if that guy is trying to ridicule, why do we have to drop to such a level where we have to be mean to him. It is easy to be mean, and it is very hard to be compassionate to the most tamasic of people. Oh yeah, but i am the guest who posted, "Is it ok to see krishna in everything... even in inappropriate ones?"

  11. "The visitor's words say one thing, but his tone says quite another, and his heart something even worse" you see, In this forum there is no voice based messaging so how did you know what kind of tone he is writing in? "He has nothing but disrespect for the Vedas, for Krsna, and for us. God sent him here to wake him out of his delusion, and awaken in him the necessary humility to advance in his development of love of God." woah, first you do not know his tone because he is writing not talking. Also, how do you know that he has no respect for the vedas? have you met him? have you known him ? /images/graemlins/smile.gif "As a Christian I am ashamed of him. As a Vaishnava I am angered by his offences towards Sri Krsna." Offenses? All he said was " I want to know more about your religion" ," knowing what you believe or trying to know other's beliefs are offensive? What age are we living today my friend? We do not know the intentions of the visitor, all we know is that he wants to know about hinduism, it is not so bad to tell him about it. I am sorry to say, what ever you have said about his intentions are nothing but mental speculation ... you know nothing about this person and brand him such ... it is not right... and not right according to vedas or bhagavath gita.

  15. The guy who came here to learn about hinduism "The guest in the first post" has not come here with a sword or a gun saying " BELIEVE IN JESUS OR I WILL KILL YOU!" or " SURRENDER YOUR TEMPLE NOW!" /images/graemlins/smile.gif. What he was saying is "please look at our religion as we are looking at your's" Even though he said "Lets force our people to believe in each other's religion".... we can say " Please, I am very satisfied with me being in hinduism, we don't have to convert to your religion, because in reality all paths lead to one" /images/graemlins/grin.gif Compassion conquers all man, and you should please krishna by showing compassion to others, krishna doesn't care if you are a hindu, christian or Islamic person... he is in the heart of everyone. Hate is not a good thing nor is adversity to other religions ever a good thing. Realize the truth ... Krishna wants you to realize the truth ( he says it in bhagavath gita). So Don't be so mean! because you don't have to be! Okay? good /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

  20. I believe in hinduism because it works for me. Anyway, Hinduism is not a religion it is a way of life, even though it is branded a religion. My answers to your questions : 1. if Jews have Torah, Christians have the Bible, Islam the Koran. what's yours? answer - Vedas, Bhagavath Gita, Upanishads, and many hundreds of scriptures written by sages before christ and after christ. (The main one is bhagavath gita) 2. In reality there is only one God in Hinduism, the rest of them are demigods. For Vaishnavas its Vishnu, For shivaites it Shiva... they are the same thing. 3. Vedas and other various hindu scriptures say so. Our basis in believing in reincarnation is like your basis in believing the Garden of Eden /images/graemlins/smile.gif 4. I experience them every single moment of my life. 5. He existed because he is the speaker in Bhagavath gita, Also, there have been many places he visited and there are many clues of existence of the supreme personality of the Godhead. One clue is the island city of dwaraka, it still exists today, except it had drowned into the ocean but is still there on the sea bed of the arabian sea. 6. Let me ask you this, How do you know that god exists? but our belief in brahma, vishnu, shiva etc. are gotten from the vedic scriptures. However, the scriptures not only talk about religion but also about Cosmology. It seems that the "Creations in creations and worlds with in worlds" that is in hinduism is being proven to be true by the string theory in modern day physics. 7. We have many demigods, but only one God- call him anything you want anyway you want (Most of the vaishnavas call him Vishnu or Krishna, Rama etc).God in hinduism is like your personal friend and we believe that we have a very personal relationship with him such as, mother-child, friend-friend, Master - servant, Husband-wife... many more. ANd also, The God can be viewed in any form you want... In reality all forms are his or her's alone. 8. Even just for once? If the miracles in my life happen every day, How can I feel him only once? I have pondered on Christian beliefs and they are really wonderful. However, I believe that Hinduism works for me and I am happy with it /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif If i am wrong in some of the concepts some one from this forum please correct me!!! thank you!

  22. All religions lead to one supreme being. Whether that is Islam, Christianity, Hinduism etc. However, some religions like Islam need to change (ALOT!!!!) and some religions don't need to change that much like buddhism. In the end, we will see the truth, which will be the unity of the divine self in us with the divine self of Krishna... (thats what i call him, others call him rama, allah, 'God' whatever) Every thing will be bliss from there on....
  23. I felt so good reading them. I felt as if I was dispelled of delusion and as if i am in a presence of a great yogi. Well it sounds wierd, but thats how i feel
  24. Do not fear your dreams my friend, for dreams are only there to recap what you are going through in the waking state. May be you were a bhakth of rama and are trying to look at your god as krishna and now because you do you feel guilt unconsciously. Or it could mean that you are trying to explore Vaishnavism but are quite afraid of going to deep. If these two are not the case, then the case may be that you are fearing god himself through love. The supreme personality of the Godhead is nothing to fear about, he loves you a million times more than you love yourself. You are actually like his superstar or some one he really is crazy about. So, don't fear God but love him with all you got.
