  3. Look you guys,Ethos had said he would give it a rest for now,if the rest of you did the same. I have to trust him to his word. Please let's try to stick to the original subject of discussion. As they use to say, let's give peace a chance. What do you all say? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Debbie
  4. Ethos, I will be the first to admit I am not an argumentive person. I have never been, and I hope I never am, for that matter. It just does not make me feel that good to argue..But that is me. I tend to get really tense and worked up when I get angry and I don't like the feeling.I know you have your rights, just as well as anyone else on this board.I think you have let your voice be heard, very clearly. You have been given the opportunity to complain. Right? I am sure you feel that you have been given a raw deal, and that may well be the case, but do you think that quarreling will get desired results? Why not say your piece, drop it, and go forward. I will also be the first to admit that I have not read the books you have read,so therefore something I have not read yet, I surely can't understand very well.I am new at this, and you know that,by now, I am sure. But, I will read perhaps, some of the books, as I progress, and hopefully if I do not understand something, I hope I can feel free perhaps to come to you, or any of the other board members, without feeling as if, I have to defend myself,if I make a statement or have questions.Do you think that is possible? When I wrote that post,I did say,it was not directed at any one person, and that is what I meant. Debbie
  5. Thanks Livingentity, I just went to that web-site just browsing for now. Maybe I can order sometimes.I don't know anything about Indian food, so I may have to ask some questions to the board or to the site before ordering. Debbie
  6. I am not trying to be a referee to you guys, because I know that is not possible, and I know that sometimes there are many things in religious topics that are debatable. But do you really think all this quarreling back and forth between yourselves serves a useful purpose? Maybe I am wrong, but do you think it is at all possible to have a intelligent conversation without attacking each other, in the process? Debating about something is one thing, but this quarreling is something else.I know I have not been here a long time, but I plan on staying, but I would love to see a little peace between you guys, if that is possible. I do not direct my comments to any one person.I have always believed you attack the problem, not the person.I hope I have not offended anyone with my comments. That is not my purpose. Debbie
  7. -Prasad, I appreciate your response.I live in a very small town, that has mainly plain american foods, with the exception of a small Mexican grocery store.I may be able to find an Indian store in our state's capitol city..I do not know, but I would surely try...I have always like to try different things, even before I had decided to try to change my way of eating to the vegetarian life-style.I have gone to various Indian web-sites to try to find recipes, but find it sometimes hard to find out what certain ingredients are, as they are something I am not familiar. In talking to some of my Indian friends, I have found that some are the same as what we have here, but maybe called something else there..Do you have any help in converting some of these ingredients into something I can understand? Thanks again for giving me a product name I can ask for, when and if I find that Indian store. Debbie
  8. Gauracandra, Thanks for describing papadams to me..I have never seen them before. Sounds like they would be good. I will have to try and find them.. Debbie
  9. Gauracandra, Could you tell me what is a papadams, please???? I have never heard of it. Debbie
  10. I drink "Silk Soymilk" or "SunSoy Soymilk" as a alternative to drinking cow's milk. Since before, I was normally drinking skim milk, these made a nice alternative, for drinking or in cereal. I can't say that I have tried it in any recipes yet, but it might work in those, too. It generally comes in plain, vanilla, and chocolate. It may have other flavors too. For me, I like the vanilla and plain the best.(Sorry,I just read this, and my post sounded like a advertisement for soymilk). Debbie
  11. Theist, I know this might be a little off the subject, but I will ask anyway..I have just ordered the "Bhagavad Gita" off the internet. Are these changes all of you have been talking about already taken place in the book I just ordered? Debbie
  12. Shiva, Maybe you are right, perhaps.I guess I have a lot to learn about religious philosophies, as well,as a lot of other things, too. But I have always been taught, even though I did not believe in someone else's religion, to respect the person's choice, accept it as their own choice, not mine, and not to judge them, because of it. In so saying, one person may look at their religion in a totally different way than you or me might look at it.We choose to follow what path we feel most comfortable to God.Hopefully we have chosen the right one. Debbie
  13. Jndas, Thanks for posting the answer to "What type of general habits should one follow in normal life."I found this post, to be very informative and helpful.. As I had told you in my email, I had recieved the chanting beads. Thanks..I had read "Chant and Be Happy: The Power of Mantra Meditation" on I think www.iskcon.org/. Do you think this will answer the questions I asked you? Next step, when my finances permit, I want to buy a copy of the Gita. For now, I am reading it online. Debbie
  14. Shiva, I know you are correct in saying there are differences in what is taught in various religions..Although, I believe most of all believe in a higher power, with different teachings varied from one to the next..It is up to us to choose the one that we feel with our hearts to be the right path for ourselves. I agree with Manni in her statement:"For thought-every single religion(that I know of)teaches Love(bhakti)for God.This a nice place to start /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" I am sure there are different things we do not necessarily believe that is right with different religions, but we only have to follow the path that is right for us. What others follow is up to them. The important thing is to become more God conscious and to serve Him,whatever path you choose to follow. This is my opinion and belief, that we really should not judge whatever path one chooses to follow. Debbie
  15. Theist, I agree with you.I do not feel anyone should change Prabhupada's works anymore than anyone would change the Holy Bible. If you don't agree, just leave it, not change it. We can not take someone else's work change it, and mold it to make it fit how we think it should be. If you do not agree with something, perhaps it might be a good idea to pray for guidance, so that one may have a better understanding. But in any case, I do not feel anyone has the right to change anyone's works. Debbie
  16. You might me crazy for asking such a question, but could you please tell me, what food has to do with helping to controll sexual urge. I am sure it all sounds logical to all of you, but I am very curious to the relationship of what foods we eat that make our bodies react or not react in certain ways to sexual urges or anything else for that matter. Thanks in advance for your response. Debbie
  17. Shiva, Thanks! You know if I have a question, I will surely ask. I am sure I will have a lot of them. Debbie /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
  18. Avinash, Thanks, I have sent you a message.. Debbie
  19. I know this is not the proper place to ask, but are either of you have IM?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Debbie
  20. Shiva, I know many times I have said you confuse me for some reason or other, but in this post, I think I actually understood it or at least most of it. Maybe that is a break-through for me, I guess. It gave me a clearer explanation of some things that you said in relation to Krishna, and some things I need to study and think more about. Thanks Debbie
  21. I agree. I have seen X used before the holy name so many times, and I choose not to do so, because it seems to be offensive to me, as well. It has always just kind of gave me a bad feeling. You are right that it seems not to acknowledge the Holy name. Debbie
  22. Christian, I would like to add a short comment to something you said in your post. I think the others on the board have replied well to you, to try to help you understand. You made the comment "God loves you, and I want to love you as much as he does(though because I'm human,it won't happen)"..I know I do not have that much of a religious background, but I have been around many people that do.Most christians,if they are true christians, were taught, as I was, that we are to love everyone. We might not like what actions they sometimes take in their lives, but we love them just the same. Just because someone follows a different path to God,than you follow, should not make them unworthy of your love. I myself, have just come here to this site, a short time ago. I think alot of people here, unlike what some people choose to believe, do believe in Jesus, and feel he was brought here to make man God conscious, and I accept that, and believe it is true. I believe there are different paths to God, and we each must find the path that is for us.That in no way makes us a bad person, because we may differ from you or anyone else. I have been around for a long time, and I admit I am still searching, but here, I think I have found something much different than I have found before. Time will tell, for sure. At least here,I am not alone, and have many people that are searching to be more God conscious and how we can serve Him. This is something I need very much in my life right now. It seems here, where I live, there are some that are really truely devoted to what they believe in, but some just seem to go through the motions, because it is something they feel they have to do..God knows what our true intentions are, and in no way can we fool Him, if we are not true to ourselves, others,or Him. I am striving now, to become more God conscious, and to try to follow a path, that around here, where I live, not many would probably understand. I surely do not expect you to understand it, because right now, it is even new to me..But all in all, I believe I can recieve more spiritual understanding in this path, although it still will take some time. I know my comment was long, but I felt I needed to say it. Let's not judge others because you feel, that your way is the only way..Only our God,whatever we choose to call Him, can really be the judge.I know some may not agree with me on that fact. Debbie
  23. Theist, Just two weeks ago, I had started drinking a product named "Silk Soymilk". It comes in organic plain, vanilla and chocolate. It actually tastes pretty good, but I think I like the vanilla flavoured, the best. I had been normally used to drinking fat-free milk, when I did drink milk, and this taste, to me, just as good, if not better.Do you think this is OK to drink? I have heard some of you speak of a different kind of cheese, but I do not know where to find that..Any suggestions? Debbie /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
  24. Avinash, Thanks for the email address.I have sent the info.there, with the request for the chanting beads. Thanks again.. Debbie /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
