I stumbled across a report of sites being blocked in China, and for some reason indiadivine was one of those listed as intermittently being blocked. I guess they don't want religious information to be accessible there.

    Title: IndiaDivine.com

    Site: www.indiadivine.com (and subdirectories)

    Blocking quotient: Intermittently Blocked

Blocked on: Sep 30 (Guangdong), Oct 12 (Beijing)

Inbound Link Count: 1,250 linking pages

Not surprised ... China is a Communist country and Communists have problem with Religion and Beliefs.

Since 1950s and 60s, there had been reports of Chinese Communists Officials invading Buddhist and Taoists Temples and Shrine, sealing them and forcing the monks and nuns out into the streets. Many of them were beaten severely and some near to death.

In mid-1960s, when China invaded Tibet, it wanted to show Buddhists there that the enlightned Monks were nothing but dead wood so they gathered the bodied of monks, still sitting in meditative post even after they died, and descreated them. Tibetans however took actions first by gathering this perserved monks in meditative post and gave them proper cremation process.

China is one of the most frequent disaster-filled area in the world and almost every week, you can hear news (on Radio in Malaysia) about how a group of Chinese got killed in some parts of China. For me, I don't pity Atheists. They got what they deserve and should get more.

  2. Nonsense ...

No where in any Scriptures of the Old Testament stated that those who do not believe in God or its Messangers will be send to Hell for eternity and no where did it say that Jesus was a god that needs to be followed like a damned Sheep. I find this article INSULTING. :mad2:

Christians broke EVERY freaking commandments in the Old Testament and even the New one BUT they going to go to heaven because they believe in Jesus?

Also ... since when did Yama, Lord of Death in Hindusm worked for Jesus?

And finally, making Man in His own image is a major nonsense from Christianity. In Hebrew, God made Man's SOUL in His image, NOT the body. But in Christianity, they said God made Man in flesh and blood according to His image which is why Jesus the god came as Man.

  3.

Thanks for the response. Was the part where Vidur was insulted and he broke the bow a part of the movies that Ravi Choppra made?

I just finished watching them again, and I do not recall watching that part.

You want to learn about Hindusm through movies? :eek4:

I got my information by reading Mahabratha Epic which a friend of mine (Hindu also) borrow to me a few years back.

Basically, I have no idea what they stated in Tamil movies, but I did watch old Tamil black and white movies like Abimanyu which was very interesting.

  4.

This is something that I have always wondered? Bhishma, Drona, and Kripa had to fight, but wasn't Vidur a part of Hastinapur?

Actually, if Vidura was to fight, he had to fight against the Pandawas like what Drona and others did, but Sri Krishna made plans to ensure Vidura doesn't anticipated.

When Sri Krishna came as messanger of peace to the Kauravas in behalf of Pandawas, He decline to stay with any of the guest houses which Kauravas had prepared and He didn't stay with either Drona, Bhisma or anyone else. What He did was, He went and stay with Vidura in his measly looking house. This upset the Kauravas.

So, when battle about to begin, what Kauravas did was insult Vidura as being traitor and a low-caste (different story, I forgot the detail) and Vidura broke the Bow which Lord Shiva gave him and vowed that he will not fight for Kauravas in the upcoming battle.

So, all this was part of Sri Krishna's plan.

a return to God's pure spiritual kingdom and liberation from material existence.

How sure are you that this is really the goal of obtain Moksha? :eek4:

If you ask me, (and this is my personal opinion), I say Hindus are following Non-Vedic beliefs also by assuming that you will go somewhere where you will shake your legs for eternity. :eek4:

some do, some don't. It depends what they think Moksha/Nirvana is.. emptiness and no-experience like in Buddhism, or full consicouness, experience and bliss in God's Kingdom..

Exactly ... depends on what you think of Moksha is, that is what you will seek. So, how can a Hindu tells another person he will not obtain Moksha when he himself have not learn what stated in other religion?

Er ... No, I don't think anyone who blows themselves up for 72 virgins will obtain Moksha in ANY lifetime. :smash:

If you are a Vaishnava you serve God and enjoy pure bliss and satisfaction, apart from material suffering, in the Vaikuntha planets.

Sorry but to me, it sounds like you have selfish reasons for wanting obtain Moksha. :eek4:

  6. Without knowing about the goal, can we obtain the goal? without even knowing we are bound in a cycle of death, birth and rebirth, can we be liberated?

And what is the goal?

You speak as if people who trying to obtain moksha knows their goals very well also.

Please answer me this ... why do you seek Moksha? What do you do after you obtain Moksa?:smash:

  7. One cannot realize oneself by karma. That is the first “certainly not.”

One cannot realize oneself by jïäna. That is the second “certainly not.”

One cannot realize oneself by yoga. Certainly not.

Kalau. Kalau means “in this age.” Kalau nästy eva nästy eva nästy eva gatir anyathä. In this age one certainly cannot achieve success by any of these three methods.

Isn't this against Bhavagad Gita which preachs karma, jnana and yoga?

  8.

the death of abhimanyu is pitiable. it the unfortunate that Lord Krishna who knows all the happenings did not wish to safeguard his nephew. i want abhimanyu to remain alive and get the throne of Hastinapur in the end.

Warrior's Death is what all warriors will wish for in Battlefield, especially Kyastria. Abimanyu died as warrior and therefore, it is not something to pity. :eek4:

However, what I could see changed is the fact that at least one Kauravas out of 100 could have survived.

  9.

I am currently engaged in a heated debate with my Sikh friend about the practice of murti pujan, or Idol worship. Sikhs, as you may know, are strictly against the worship of any idol, statue, or even physical object. Guru Nanak forbade his disciples in worshipping idols because idols are seen as still part of maya.

How can I argue to defend murti pujan? What analogies/references can I use that justifies the bhakti/devotion to idols of God? Thanks!!

    --

    OM SHANTI.

No need to justify anything to anyone.

If I were you (and I'm not so I just voice my opinion), I could tell your friend that Sikhism is a belief which born out of interaction between Islam and Hindusm during Moghul period.

SO WHY should you, who follows Hindusm which existed for 5,000 years in India, bother about what someone says as recent as 1,000 years ago? :eek4:

  10.

Why did God create so many different religions??? I do believe it is because of the many levels of mentalities as well as karma reaped. I wonder why he just did'nt create one to make it easier for all !!!! It would eliminate so much of the chaos ( I believe)

God is One ... no chance in that fact. Religion however is not One. One can reach God if he or she put faith in God but following a religion blindly WILL not gurantee you will reach God.

Religion is just another examination which we must study for, put in practical and strive to get the best mark as possible.

Unfortunately, nowadays, most people failed the study part, much less putting it in practise.

  11.

Sounds political to me. I think a pope banned reincarnation. A man banned reincarnation, not God so I can't take the Pope's word for it. Maybe something like love for Christ would release you from the cycle of reincarnation, much like bhakti yoga. But obviously, they didn't understand this.

The Pop doesn't represent God. That's Christian belief.

The Religion doesn't represent God either.

God isn't represented by ANYONE or ANYTHING. If He choose to approach you, that's His choice.

Unfortunately, I just have to agree with your statement about Bhakti Yoga and Love for Christ. :crazy2:

  12.

It says in the Gita that there is never a time when our souls were not. They are said to be eternal and unborn. So does this mean we have always been conscious, separate individuals?

If I became enlightened today, would I have memories going back into infinity?

I think it is the other way around. I think we were UNCONSCIOUS. :)

The reason we are considered Conscious and Separate individuals is because our needs and desires are different. WHAT IF we had no desires and needs? What IF your existence is equal to mine? What IF we existed as ONE in Him as well? :eek4:

We will not know till we have become Enlightened, do we?

  13. Concentrate in reeducating Hindus and relearning Hindusm. How Muslims and Christians live their lives is no concern of Hindus NOR is it my intention when I open this thread.

My suggestion :- Internet IS a good place to explore the World and see others of different race and beliefs.

Start exploring. Go to other forums which have nothing to do with Hindusm and mingle around. Debate and listen to other people's opinions. Many will like to know your opinions also, especially Asians.

ONLY when you are out of your nutshell, you will know just how big the World is and just how much Hindusm had helped to shape the World, especially Asian region.

  14.

Hmmm, interesting. Even Jesus said John the Baptist was Elijah reincarnated but why did Christians stray away from that belief? And Islam too?

Earlier Christians are not Jewish people but Romans. In 1st Century A.D, Romans and Jewish people mingled in Middle-East. Romans faced tough opponents in Europe and its own politics become weakened. So, Rom turn south for invasion and tried to invade the Promised Land.

Same way how Americans begins to learn about Islam and many took to become Muslims as Christians wage war with Muslim in Middle East now, many Romans become "Jewish" in the same manner. But Jewish traditions were a bit different from Roman culture.

Romans didn't like the idea of Circimcision, Sabbath and such, so they were taught that Jesus came to save man and therefore, died in Man's behalf. In this way, Jesus nullfied the needs for Circumcision (which originally intention was to demonstrate the nullifying of the Original Sins). This new people are called Christians (Ones who believe in Christ).

However, over the time being, the very statement that Jesus died for Man's sins begins to corrupt the teachings. They begin to question - WHY must Man reborn again and again (till he reach perfection) IF Jesus already died for their sins? Thus, reincarnation was left out in the New Testament which was written around 3rd Century A.D.

No idea about Islam though. I have many time asked them why they don't believe in reincarnation, they never say why. I guess they are disqusted with the idea that Man can come back as animals, or many view that it will be useless for Muslims to pray 5 times a day if they required to reborn again and again.

In my opinion, Islam is just "buying" heaven and "selling" time and effects (in form of prayers). :eek4:

  15.

Mass extinctions? That's interesting. I always thought of mass extintions to be coincidental to the end of mini yuga cycles. So we're in the 7th Kaliyuga at the moment (hence 6 major extenctions in the past). Anyway, i'm trailing off.

Er ... no ... humans didn't pass 7 kali yugas, they only have a single kali yuga. Whether they will survive or perish determines by their faith and God's will.

The 6th "Kaliyugas" which I spoke of is what happened to this world since Creation. Maybe it is what happened to our Souls since Creation of this World. :eek4:

  16.

Shiv, most religions believe in reincarnation. :) obviously, that says something. There's only three that don't believe in it: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Notice how Christianity stemmed from the one religion that didn't believe in reincarnation? As compared to paganism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and certain tribal religions. It has nothing to do with numbers.

Correction ... Christianity and Islam doesn't believe in Reincarnation. Judaism HAVE belief in Reincarnation. Get your facts straighten. Thank you. :smash:

  17. Zeus throws thunderbolts ... same as Indra also.

Many ancient beliefs do not call "them" gods but with other names. Red Indians in American plains calls them "Spirits" of Elements and God as "Great Spirit" (like Chief of all Spirits), Ancient Europeans in Europe also follow the same thing and many worship Nature. Same goes for Japanese and even Chinese.

I agree there are no dalits in reality. God does not have untouchable children. It is men who have made such a class, and labelled others as such.

Then Society should be educated about this illegal (by Hindusm practise) classification by some members of society and they should stop picking on Brahmins. ALL are guilty, not Brahmins alone.

All those of us outside of India, don't need to worry about the caste system. It's not a part of western society. Nor does it seem to be rigidly followed in other asian Hindu countries, like Bali, Fiji, etc? Correct me if I am wrong here.

You are WRONG. You're ignorant of the World. You're like a frog who lives inside a nutshell and sees the World as small and dark. Come out of India and explore the World before you make such statements.

In till 1800s, "Caste-like" system existed in China. There, Warriors are the ruling race. Farmers are second and the second lowest are the Merchants who deals with foreigners (which Chinese looked as Barbarians in those days). The "Untouchables" here are prostitutes and such people. Priest and Monks are outside the social order and they are not included in Worldly affairs, but still sort after for advice on how to rule properly.

In till 1870s, "Caste-like" system existed in Japan. The "untouchables" there are called Etas which included prisoners (of war/slaves), criminals, those who deals with Deads, butchers and even armour makers (because they used leather from animals).

Even today, in Japan, especially in the old Capital, Kyoto, there exists Eta communities. And guess what? I heard (from Japanese friends) that most of them likes Tamil movies because unknowingly, a lot of Tamil movies seems to present their problems also (like marriage outside the Circle etc). :)

In America and Europe, it is even WORSE than in India. While Indians in India are persecuted for being born in lower family and some good souls accept them, many black people and foreigners are openly persecuted in America and Europe by groups like KKK and Skinheads.

It seems the corrupt brahmins of Bharat could learn a lot from Hindus outside the Motherland.

Wrong ... EVERYONE should learn more from Hindus outside India AND from other races as well. If Hindus believe that all souls came from God, then they shouldn't have problem communicating with other souls, right? I myself had romantic relationship with Japanese colleaque (if you can consider lunch dates and suppressed feelings romantic :eek4: ).

Changes start with YOU. IF you don't want to make that first step onto changing, DO NOT ASK someone else to do so. :deal:

  19.

Dalits = people that are seen as even below Sudras. People born without a caste.

Of course the caste-system is a complex issue, and has certainly been corrupted. The original was designed to bring order to the society, and everyone was supposed to have a place in society.. Yet in this Kali Yuga, fake Brahamins and Kshatriyas have shamed the Vedic Dharma, by their bigotry against lower castes, and their lact of compassion for all people, regardless of what caste or lack thereof they are born into.

Let us help dalits and fight for their rights. And let us declare that true Hinduism, is about compassion for all creatures and recognizing all beings as children of God.

No it's not (a complex problem or issue). But Hindus who lives in the middle of this problem looks at it as big.

To solve Caste problem, the solution is :

    1. Communication and mingling with other races OUTSIDE India.

If you live, work and even marry others who believe in Caste system, this problem will not go away. You should go out and meet other races and mingle with them.

    2. If you yourself don't look down on others, then others will follow your example and soon, more people will do the same.

Problem here is, if you are born in Nair household for example, you run around wearing name like XXXX Nair and claim Caste don't exist, do anyone going to believe you? of course not ... you are a hypocrite who wants others to change and not yourself.

Frankly speaking, I don't see ANY Dalits. I think Dalits don't exist, only Indians who humilate others with such names.

IF defination of Dalit is someone who born without a caste, then Christians, Muslims, Buddhism, Jews and just about everyone who is not from India are Dalits also, YET this is the same people Indians need to survive everyday. So who are Dalits?

  20.

    Sephiroth,

In the picture you display in your avatara box. The second two circles from the top, do they also signify the "one" becoming "two".

The top most section is called Keter (The Crown). It split into two portions - Wisdom (Chokmah - right side) and Understanding (Binah - left side).

This is basic for ALL Mystisms ... In the beginning there was ONE, which gave birth to TWO which gave birth to ALL. :)

ALL religions (which comes from God) have this similarities because the Truth cannot be changed; just misinterpreted, misunderstood or just miss altogether (like Islam did - there's no Kaballah concept in Islam). :rolleyes2:
