  3. Yes, Atmashraya

I must agree, he is doing a very "nice job" indeed.

I only wished that when he took part in discussions he did so with the status of "JN Das, Member" and when he was moderating he did it, of course, as "Administrator". This would help to ward off any misconstrued perceptions of conflict of interest.

Surely we can all experience certain rasas in a pure way, not dominated by sex, no matter what our bodies?

    Dear nine9

It seems to me that you dont have a homosexual relationship but a transgender one in as much as there does not appear to be a gender sexual parameter in the loving intimacy between you - the sex is transcended.

What a blessing that you are able to embrace this intimacy without its energy being subsumed or disrupted by the expiations of sex.

Spiritual intimacy between people can be problematic in so many ways in the industrialised society that we live in.

Many are afraid to get soulfully close to another for fear of arousing corollary erotic urges, whether the other is of the opposite sex or not, - erotic urges that would be inappropriate to the moral, societal or even psychological situation of the persons.

Others see "spiritual intimacy" as only some sort of highly genteel prequel to sex or as necessarily part and parcel of a refined sexual experience.

Of course spiritual intimacy without sexual practice need not be devoid of, or deny the the erotic current. However this may well express itself in a flavour of platonic love. I think this is what you mean by rasa.

    Kindest Regards

    Yes

For the finger (the analogy) to point

    to the moon (the subject)

    there must be consonance

between the elements in the analogy

and the elements in the subject.

    If this does not occur

then the finger is not pointing

in the direction of the moon

    and we are left, askance,

    staring at a finger.

    Moreover,

    where the subject

    is a matter of Truth

    the elements in the analogy

must be as true as possible.

As milk does not take on a poisonous effect

simply because the snake's lips touched it,

the only truthful construct that can be obtained between the milk analogy

and the Holy Names is that

just as milk does not take on

    a poisonous effect

    neither do the Holy Names.

    HariNaam ki Jay !

    OKAY sweetie.

I will avoid the hair splitting pedantic arguments regarding the difference between something being intrinsically poisonous and something not poisonous but having a poisonous effect !

Yes I will avoid that argument by AGREEING with you. Yes, it is said by certain authorities that the hearing of the Holy Names from the lips of a non devotee has a POISONOUS EFFECT.

Now, if this statement is accepted we still obtain scope for Melvin's idea of a Hare Krishna "virus" ("POISON"). As you may be aware, viruses need not, ipso facto, be a poison and, yet, under certain conditions can give rise to poisonous effects. Is the Hare Krishna virus that Melvin is raving about a concept for the POISONOUS EFFECT of so many non devotees chanting the MahaMantra?

(Oh, by the way, a saucer of milk is not poisoned by a snake drinking from it. OOps. I am sorry - let me rephrase that: A saucer of milk touched by the lips of a snake does not give rise to poisonous effects by virtue of a snake having touched it.)

  7. This is an unofficial survey on the question of reinstating Jaya Shriradhey as a Member of this hallowed Fellowship.

This survey is posted without consultation with anyone including the Administrator.

Participants should note that the result of this survey will not be binding on anyone but, rather, will hopefully present a populist position with the status of a persuasive recommendation to the Administrator.

The "ballot" will close exactly 7 days after its initiation today, unless the thread is locked sooner by the Administrator.

Participation in this ballot is to be taken as an, in principle, expression of democracy and should not be read to place the participant in any particular political or dialectical camp.

    How to participate:-

    1. You must have become a Member prior to the commencement of this ballot (m'ship commencement detail is found in each person's profile - default info)

    2. please read the following threads first:

    * Audarya Fellowship

    * Freedom of Speech

    * Where are you contamani [sic] das ?

    2. Post one of these messages

    a) Yes, bring back Jaya Shriradhey

    OR

    b) No, Jaya Shriradhey Keep Away

    4. You are allowed only one posting.

    5. No argumentation within your posting.

(Talasiga reserves his right to take part in the ballot)

    Yes ! Well !

    Let's get back on tracks.

The "subject" of this thread, as commenced by Melvin, is the Hare Krishna Virus (for virus read "POISON"). This is a most BIZARRE subject until one recalls it being said (in another place) that the Divine Names become POISONOUS if heard from the lips of a non devotee.

Now Satyaraja has been recently described as a "Master Morph". However he must pale in comparison to the Divine Names which are alleged to become poisonous if uttered by certain class of persons who happen to predominate in this Age of Kali, the very Age in which the Holy Names are the only Way to Deliverance. From Divine to Virus, from Healing to Poison, the Supreme Morph ?

In case my point is missed:-

Just how bizarre is Melvin's suggestion if you consider that the Divine Names are said to become poisonous under certain CONDITIONS ?

No need to apologise for any puported confusion. However, if you are leaving please allow me to put this to Satyaraja:-

"You seem to be doing the double-speak again. It was you who said that Visnu and Narayana are more popular than Krsna. JNDas has disputed this statement of yours. Now you criticize his statement by stating that Visnu, Narayana, and Krsna are all the same Hari." So, my dear friend, how can Hari be more popular than Hari ?

    What about the statements:

The Holy Name is Divine and non different from the Lord.

However heard from the lips of a non devotee It is poison - just like milk touched by the lips of a serpent becomes poisonous.

Is this another example of double speak ?

  15. Saint John of the Cross poem:

    O LIVING FLAME OF LOVE

    O living flame of love

    That tenderly wounds my soul

    In its deepest center! Since

    Now you are not oppressive,

Now consumate! if it be Your will.

    Tear through the veil

    of this sweet encounter!

    O sweet cautery,

    O delightful wound!

O gentle hand! O delicate touch

    That tastes of eternal life

    And pays every debt!

In killing You change death to life.

    O lamps of fire

    In whose splendors

    The deep caverns of feeling

    Once obscure and blind,

Now give forth, so rarely, so exquisitely,

Both warmth and light to their Beloved.

    How gently and lovingly

    You wake in my heart,

    Where in secret You dwell alone;

    And by Your sweet breathing,

    Filled with good and glory,

How tenderly You swell my heart with love!
