  2. A guest wrote: i am confused...i am new to KC so pls forgive my ignorance...y did Jadurani dd take shelter of Srila Narayana Maharaja unlike the other disciples to began to preach? Haribol I am sorry it took so much time for me to see your post. I do not know who you mean by "other disciples", maybe you want to say that is it enough to be a disciple of Srila Prabhupada to preach. Of course Srila Prabhupada is a spiritual master of the whole world, his mercy shines upon all of our faces. But Srila Prabhupada mentioned, almost on every page of his books, TO TAKE A SHELTER OF A PURE DEVOTEE and be personaly guided. That is why he asked Srila Narayana Maharaja to continue guiding his disciples. Your servant, Yashoda dd (Croatia)
  3. "However, this was not the webpage I was referring to. Though I'm glad that the Narayana Swami followers are capable of producing at least one page free of politics -- frankly, this is the first one of that type I have seen, ever." Thank you prabhu (or mataji?). What is your name? Any reason to hide your name? Your servant, Yashoda dd

  5. Let us say for the debate sake: I spent few years serving in iskcon on few continents, to my very best: not asking for any reward accept for the blessings of vaisnavas - that was my life and soul. But after few years of chanting, reading and serving - I found myself souranded by very strange authorities who actually did not care for my welfare. I do not care if they are from Mars, Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti or from some time from the past or from the future. I FOUND MYSELF IN THE MIDST OF PEOPLE WHO LOOKED LIKE VAISNAVAS, BUT THEY DID NOT WANT ME TO ADVANCE IN MY SPIRITUAL LIFE. So I asked - may I go to listen from advanced Vaisnava like Narayana Maharaja? - and answer was NO - all what you need is in Srila Prabhupada's books. So I looked in Srila Prabhupada's books and - what a surprise - on almost every page there is a very clear instruction: GO TO A PURE DEVOTEE OF THE LORD AND SERVE HIM. THERE IS NO SPIRITUAL LIFE WITHOUT A BLESSING OF A HIGHLY ADVANCED VAISNAVA. So I left the society of people who actually did not care for association of a pure devotee but for name-giving, back-biting and politics - DO NOT GO TO NARAYANA MAHARAJA! He may tell you something that may change your heart. My dear devotees - that is the most important thing. Change of a heart. The hell with big marbel buildings, lacks of rupees and silk dhoties: we need tears in our eyes while we bow down to a pure devotee with a very thick straw in our teeth (or keyboard, whatever). Your servant, Ydd
  6. Even after two thousand years, the name of Lord Jesus is very powerful, in the whole world, thanks to many branches and sects. Some preaching they have the same, some say total different - some of them are vegetarians because they say Lord Jesus was a vegetarian. The cult of Mother Mary: some sects say She was a virgin and holy, some say she was just an ordinary mother but her son was God. Anyway... Srila Prabhupada, on Dec 31 1966 in New York said: "In the beginning, Lord Caitanya says that by the symptoms, we can understand that He is saktyavesa. By the symptoms and activities and influence. So what is that symptom? Symptom is that eternal and temporary. So avatar, incarnation comes to glorify the eternal existence of the Supreme Lord. So any avatara, any incarnation, He comes to glorify that "There is spiritual kingdom. There is God, and I have come to reclaim you to back to Godhead, back to home." This is the symptom. So therefore, by that symptom, we accept Lord Jesus Christ as saktyavesa avatara, or Hajarat Muhammad, he's also. Because these two religious leaders of the world, they preached about the glorification of the Supreme Lord. And they sacrificed everything for preaching the glories of the Lord. Therefore, and their influence and their followers, there are... These are the symptoms by which we can understand that Jesus Christ and Hazarat Muhammad was, were saktyavesa avataras. So far Buddha is concerned, he's also considered saktyavesa avatara. He preached this nirvana philosophy. Although he did not speak about God because it is considered that he was himself God, but the people amongst whom he preached, they were mostly atheistic people. Therefore he did not preach about God. But he did not deny also. He simply wanted to make extinction of this present worldly activities." © 1991 by Bhaktivedanta Book Trust Your servant, Ydd In the beginning, Lord Caitanya says that by the symptoms, we can under- stand that He is saktyavesa. 8. All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga! All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Today is a day we celebrate appearance day of Srila Gour Govinda Maharaja, a great soul that touched hearts of thousands and is still doing through his books and his disciples. I met Srila Maharaja in Mayapur during ISKCON GBC meetings in 1995. Did not know much about philosophy or learn the difference between vedic and western life. Anyway, I had problems to understand some ideas of my siksa guru (one of the voted ISKCON guru) at that time and went to Srila Gour Govinda Maharaja to ask him for guidance. On personal darshan, he was listening with great attention. He asked me to join his disciples in Bhuwaneshvar for Gaura Purnima few days later and I moved out from Culcutta temple. After the festival I came back to Adridharana prabhu because I was not ready to graspe it. You asked for me, but I was gone back and I never came to darshan again untill next GBC meeting in 1986, when you asked me to wait in front of your door. I was waiting for maybe 15 minutes, only to hear calls out of your disciples because you just left the body. One devotee in tears, in panic, was pushed out of the room, carried by two devotees by each side, calling "gurudeva, gurudeva, please give me back my gurudeva" and he grabbed my sari. I will never forget that day as long as I live. Thank you Maharaja for inspiring me and for giving me chance to actually hear Hari-katha and thank you very much for giving me a push towards the guidance of my today diksha gurudeva, Srila Narayana Maharaja. I only pray that one day I will understand at least something of that pure messages you were showering us. Forever grateful for your divine association and mercy, Yashoda devi dasi (Croatia)
  9. The fact that Croatia's president's daughters ARE disciples of their yoga leader Mahesvarananda made it different: the president mr. Mesic personally while visiting Inida came to him. Isn't it nice? And while Dalai Lama came visited Croatia, prime minister mr. Racan personally visited him, inspite of many opposition coming from China so in the end the prime minister said "OK, it was a personal visit" so China did not stop it's trading with Croatia. But it was close. Croatia like all ex-comunist countries, 10 years ago had millions of people claiming to be atheists. During comunist regime, Catholic church had a lot of to suffer: priests were killed, nuns where shot, churches plundered and many buildings simply taken by the government. Now there is a proces where Catholic church is gettinig money for all that was taken by force. And in Croatia there were many waves coming from all sides - Maharishi Mahes Yogi to many different churches of Christ- all heading towards people who claimed up to yesterday not to believe anything. And it is still a big hunt. We all know, as Srila Prabhupada said, that yoga without a philosophical conotation, has no meaning. And Christian church - well, they know it all. They know that yoga is here to stay no matter they say and that is why there is a big fear of loosing customers. In Croatia we have a small group of ex-iskcon devotees, spreading a big propaganda against Krishna consciousness because iskcon's way of preaching as they experienced -non mature, materialistic, selfish and a lot of crime going on in the name of religion. And they became "big Christians", going from church to church, preaching they should not enter "new age" sects, specially not Krishna conscioussness. Also in Croatia we have one madman who is gethering disciples, coping ex-Visnupada. This madman clames he can play basketball with Jesus and dance with Lord Krishna. He is speaking about his experiences in Iskcon, also. Actually we should see faults in ourselves - better sadhana (which we can learn from Catholic church - after 2000 years!), better care for each devotee, not tolerating materialistic side of leaders and following Srila Prabhupada.
  10. Tridandisvami Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja THE "MARRIAGE" OF RADHA AND KRSNA Varsana: November 9, 2002 [This is a belated lecture from Kartika time – to inspire devotees to come along this year. It was given during the Vraja Mandala Parikrama in Varsana. There, Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja responded to a common misconception among many Vrajavasis, that Radha and Krsna were actually married in a ceremony officiated by Lord Brahma. This misconception was presented by the panda (brahmana scholar and historian) who accompanied the parikrama party to the various pastime places in Varsana. The panda also referred to Srimati Radharani as Matesvari, which is a title meaning the Supreme Mother or Goddess. Srila Maharaja objected to this title, which is accurate from a philosophical point of view, but inconsistent with the mood of serving Sri Sri Radha and Krsna in Their Vrndavana pastimes. – ed.] All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga! Now we are in Varsana-dhama. I have told you about the glories of Varsana, and now I want to speak about radha-tattva. Srimati Radharani is the beloved of Krsna, but She is not an ordinary female with lusty desires as seen in relationships between a mundane boyfriend and girlfriend. She is the antaranga-sakti (internal potency) of Sri Krsna. We want to discuss what Raya Ramananda explained about radha-tattva, krsna-tattva, rasa-tattva, prema-tattva, and vilasa-tattva, and also what Sri Caitanya Caritamrta Adi-lila chapter four stated regarding these important topics. Moreover, Srila Rupa Gosvami and Srila Raghunatha dasa Gosvami have explained more about radha-tattva than you will find anywhere else, and you should try to learn all of their explanations thoroughly. We have many learned scholars here, and I am requesting that they each speak for not more than fifteen minutes to offer their puspanjali (offering of the flowers of one's heartfelt words of praise). I want everyone to have an opportunity to speak. We are here for only three more days. Tomorrow we are going to Kamyavana, and we may not return until after 5:00 pm, so there may be no class tomorrow evening. The following day we will go to Uccha-gaon, and on the third day we will go to various places around Nandagaon. It will not be until after we return from Nandagaon and Uccha-gaon that we will have time for classes, so I want to discuss radha-tattva, bhakti tattva, prema bhakti and so on here. Tomorrow you will be going to Kamyavana, Charan Pahari, Vimala Kunda, Bhojansthali, Setabandu, Vrnda-devi, Radha-Govinda, Gopinatha, Madana Mohana, Panca-pandava, Draupadi Kunda, and many other places. Tirtha Maharaja, who knows all the pastimes of these places, and also our panda, will be there. If you go, the blessings of this dhama will come to you automatically. If you hear the narrations and explanations of the sweet pastimes of Radha-Krsna while on parikrama, you will be infused with all transcendental energy – so you should try to go. I am also requesting that you give daksina (a donation) to our panda, and he will be satisfied with whatever you give. Some persons have false pride and false ego because they have taken birth in Vrndavana and think themselves to be Vrajavasis. However, if they do not have the internal moods of Nanda Baba, Yasoda-maiya, and all of the eternal associates of Krsna, they are not Vrajavasis. Real Vrajavasis are those who have the mood of Vrajavasis like Nanda Baba, Yasoda-maiya, Krsna's sakhas, (boyhood friends) and especially the mood of the dasis (maidservants) of Sri Radha. I don't like to hear Srimati Radhika referred to as Matesvari Radha (Supreme Mother). This is very wrong. Most everyone in transcendental Vraja thinks of Vrsabhanu Maharaja as their brother and Lali (term of affection for Radha, meaning daughter) is their beloved daughter. Others think of Radhika in friendship, and Krsna thinks of Her as His beloved. How can she ever become Matesvari, or mother? This conception is very wrong. I ask our panda to kindly excuse me. She may be Matesvari in one sense, but in Vraja there is no place for the word Matesvari; there is no such thing. There is no mood of opulence here in Varsana; the atmosphere is always very natural and sweet. So-called Vrajavasis will tell you that Radha was married to Krsna, but this is wrong. In the Brahma-vaivarta Purana it is written that Brahmaji came to Vrndavana and performed the marriage ceremony of Radha and Krsna, wherein Lalita and Visakha sang some marriage songs. But how does a real marriage take place? The mere presence of a purohit (priest) is not enough. Someone must formally give away the girl in charity, and this ceremonial ritual is called kanya-dana. Do we see the presence of Vrsabhanu Maharaja and Krtida in Bhandiravana (the place where the "marriage" took place)? Also, Nanda Baba and Baladeva would have joined in the marriage procession along with the bridegroom. Was either of them present there? Were any Vrajavasis other than the young gopis in attendance? If not, how did this marriage ceremony take place? We may say that an exchange of garlands took place, and that is okay; this is known as a Gandharva marriage. But if a real marriage had taken place, the bride would have gone to her husband's house. Did Radhaji ever go to Yasoda-maiya's house in Nandagaon as her daughter-in-law? If the answer would be "Yes", then what would separate Srimati Radharani's mood and lila from that of Rukmini and Satyabhama? No difference would exist. But Rukmini and Satyabhama are merely expansions of the lotus feet of Srimati Radharani. It is true that marriage arrangements were taking place. Plans were being made for the marriage of Radha and Krsna, but Yogamaya Purnamasi-devi came and put a halt to that marriage. She told the parents, "This marriage cannot take place. "Their astrological charts are not compatible; their naksatra (constellations) are not well matched. One important sign is missing, and that makes it inauspicious for their marriage. No, no. This marriage must not take place. Abhimanyu, the son of Jatila, is from the richest family in Vraja. He is fully qualified, very capable and endowed with all good qualities. He should marry Her." In what way did this marriage of Radhika and Abhimanyu take place? It took place between chaya (shadow images) – Krsna's shadow, Abhimanyu, married Radha's shadow. Suppose, for the sake of argument, we say that Radhika was somehow married to Krsna. But then what about the other gopis? It is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam: pati-sutanvaya-bhrata-bandhavan ativilanghya te ’nty acyutagatau gati-vidas tavodgita-mohitau kitava yonitau kas tyajen nisi ["Dear Acyuta, You know very well why we have come here. Who but a cheater like You would abandon young women who come to see Him in the middle of the night, enchanted by the loud song of His flute? Just to see You, we have completely rejected our husbands, children, ancestors, brothers and other relatives." (SB 10.31.17)] In this statement of Srimad Bhagavatam, all the gopis are saying that they left their husbands. Srimad Bhagavatam is an authentic scripture; its statement cannot be false. This special relationship between Krsna and all of the gopis is described throughout the Srimad Bhagavatam: For example, Krsna tells the gopis when he returns after His disappearance from the Rasa Dance: na paraye ’ham niravadya-samyujam sva-sadhu-krtyam vibudhayusapi vah ya mabhajan durjara-geha-srnkhalah samvrscya tad vah pratiyatuh sadhuna ["I am not able to repay My debt for your spotless service, even within a lifetime of Brahma. Your connection with Me is beyond reproach. You have worshiped Me, cutting off all domestic ties, which are difficult to break. Therefore please let your own glorious deeds be your compensation." (SB 10:32:22)] Durjara-geha-srnkhala. This means that the gopis left their husbands, and it is written in many other places in the Srimad Bhagavatam that Krsna's gopis left their husbands to meet with Him in the Rasa Dance. We never hear that Srimati Radharani or the gopis were married to Krsna; otherwise these statements of Srimad Bhagavatam would be false. For the sake of rasa, they had a natural inclination towards Krsna as their beloved, rather than as their husband. Rukmini does not have this same feeling; after her marriage to Krsna, Rukmini developed a mood of reverence. In comparison, how do the gopis behave? They are Krsna's hladini-sakti while in this world, as well as in the spiritual world and in all the worlds in which they may appear. Their relationship is unchanging. Krsna bows his head at Radhika's feet. He offers His flute, His stick, and all that He possesses unto Her feet. When Srimati Radhika puts the dust from Her feet on Krsna's head, the mahavar (red foot paint) leaves a mark on His forehead. What is written there in that mark? "Radha." And who wrote this on Her foot? Krsna. Krsna has the name "Radha" stamped on His forehead, and this pleases Him immensely. Rukmini and Satyabhama cannot do this, because after marriage one develops a feeling of reverence for the husband as one's master or lord. If Radhika had been married to Krsna, she would have developed this mood and behaved accordingly. Some people do not understand this point and therefore have an incorrect conception. Even our learned panda, an intelligent person, supports the idea that a marriage took place between Radha and Krsna. Such persons have no knowledge or realization of rasa-tattva, and that is why they speak like this. I have opposed such ideas, and I have written a book about this. Give this book to them; let them read it. They have not read the works of Srila Rupa Gosvami, Srila Sanatana Gosvami, Srila Raghunatha dasa Gosvami, Srila Jiva Gosvami, nor have they read Sri Caitanya Caritamrta. If one does not have the association of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's associates, one will have misconceptions such as the idea that Srimati Radhika is Matesvari. I am a servant of Radhaji's lotus feet: bhajami radham aravinda-netram smarami radham madhura-smitasyam vadami radham karuna-bharardram tato mamanyasti gatir na kapi ["I worship lotus-eyed Radha. I meditate on sweetly smiling Radha. I glorify supremely merciful Radha. She is the only goal of my life. I have no other goal." (Sri Sri Radhikastottara-sata-nama-stotra, text 131, by Raghunatha dasa Gosvami)] radha-bhajane jadi mati nahi bhela krsna-bhajana tava akarana gela atapa-rohita suraya nahi jani radha-virahita madhava nahi mani ["If your desire to serve Srimati Radharani does not come about, then your so-called worship of Krsna is completely useless. Just as I never know the sun to be without sunlight, so I do not care to regard Madhava without Radha." (Sri Radhastakam Song 8 - Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura)] sri-rupa-manjari-karacita-.-padma gosthendra-nandana-bhujarpita-mastakayah ha modatah kanaka-gauri padaravinda samvahanani sanakais tava kim karisye ["O You who are as fair as gold, will I happily and gently massage Your lotus feet as You rest Your head against the arm of the prince of Vraja, as Sri Rupa Manjari massages your hands? (Sri Vilapa Kusmanjali Text 72, by Srila Raghunatha dasa Gosvami)] Radhe Radhe Radhe Jaya Jaya Jaya Sri Radhe! There is nothing else. When Krsna hears the chanting of Sri Radha's name, He goes immediately, as if automatically, to that place. When Krsna comes to Radhaji's kunja, Her dasis like Rupa Manjari, and also Her friends, may say, "Jahi Madhava, Jahi Madhava, Jahi Kesava!" ma bada kaitavabaadam" Go away Madhava, go away. Go away Kesava!" When Krsna comes, if Srimati Radharani is in maan She will not let that black person come into Her kunja. Her dasis like Rupa Manjari will scold Krsna by saying, "Go away immediately!" And then Krsna will beg them, "Please arrange for me to meet with Radhaji. O, let me meet My Svamini." This is the glory of Srimati Radhika. You are so fortunate to come to Vrndavana with our parikrama party, in the association of rasika Vaisnavas. You are so fortunate. You will have to be ready tomorrow morning by 6:30 AM. If you are late, the buses will be gone and you will not be able to travel. Gaura Premanande!
  11. Dear Mxyzptlk, thank you very much for your info. I will look into PETA website. Also, I heard from few sources that citric acis mixed with milk may cause breast cancer. What do you think? Ydd
  12. Dear devotees, I would like to ask you if you could help me when looking at different kinds of cheese in the stores. I was searching threads looking for info but I could not find names of different kinds of cheese that are not actually vegetarian. Rennet is made by killed cow or calf, that I know. Is Philadephia cheese bona fide for us? I live in a city where every morning there are old ladies coming from villages with their home-made fresh cheese (it stays fresh for few days only). Is it bona fide? I think yes, but I would like to hear your opinion on this. There is cheese ementaler with biiig holes - is that bona fide? Creme cheese made for puting on bread - is that bona fide? What about mozzarela? I heard there is one brand bona fide and one brand of mozzarela not bona fide. Help... I am sure you have fresh news on that, also. Your servant, Yashoda devi dasi
  13. I am sorry I do not really know the date Mataji made it, but I remember it was 1998 and it was a news. Beside that painting, there are 4 paintings more that are part of the whole painting actually: 4 manjaris. That painting is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. The original of the painting is on the first floor of Sri Rupa Sanatana Gaudiya Math in Vrindavana, and it is worshiped, it is wonderful aisvarya altar. Jadurani mataji (Syamarani mataji) is not painting at the moment but travelling all over world and preaching Gaudiya Visnava philosophy.

  16. Dear devotee, dandavat pranams! You have tried. You risked a lot by being in their association. Do not let their durt touch your heart or disturb your mind. Imagine few persons came and put durt all over you - or just slap your face. This is what they do. Very, very violent people. They are covered with avidya, and they float in their voidism. What you could best is, chant Hare Krishna maha mantra for their recovering of huminity and continue with your own blissful life. List them names of Srila Prabhupada's books to end the story, hoping that at least one of them will remember it at the time of death if not erlier. Ys, Yashoda devi dasi
  17. Srila Prabhupada, in purport to text 24 of Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.17: By the influence of the age of Kali, even a pauper is proud of his penny, the women are always dressed in an overly attractive fashion to victimize the minds of men, and the man is addicted to drinking wine, smoking, drinking tea and chewing tobacco, etc. All these habits, or so-called advancement of civilization, are the root causes of all irreligiosities, and therefore it is not possible to check corruption, bribery and nepotism. Man cannot check all these evils simply by statutory acts and police vigilance, but he can cure the disease of the mind by the proper medicine, namely advocating the principles of brahminical culture or the principles of austerity, cleanliness, mercy and truthfulness. Srila Prabhupada in the purport of Srimad Bhagavatam, 6.18.41: To see a woman's face and appreciate its beauty or to hear a woman's voice and appreciate her singing as very nice is a subtle falldown for a brahmacari or sannyasi. Thus the description of a woman's features by Kasyapa Muni is very instructive. When a woman's bodily features are attractive, when her face is beautiful and when her voice is sweet, she is naturally a trap for a man. The sastras advise that when such a woman comes to serve a man, she should be considered to be like a dark well covered by grass. In the fields there are many such wells, and a man who does not know about them drops through the grass and falls down. Thus there are many such instructions. Since the attraction of the material world is based on attraction for women, Kasyapa Muni thought, "Under the circumstances, who can understand the heart of a woman?" Canakya Pandita has also advised, visvao naiva kartavyah strisu raja-kulesu ca: "There are two persons one should not trust--a politician and a woman." These, of course, are authoritative sastric injunctions, and we should therefore be very careful in our dealings with women. ************ Kali woman is very envious. When a neophyte devotee lady comes in contact with pure devotee, naturally she is inclined to spiritual habits. Nevertheless, in spite of all auspicious blessings, she may have old habits of disturbing men. In Iskcon, many women were using their "charm" in order to sell books. The result of sold books was nice, but their consciousness was contaminated. Vedas say that real beauty of a lady is shyness. Once when this control valve is loosened, women can create havoc in society by adultary. If woman are spiritualy advanced, she will always act in a proper vaisnavi way and then she is qualified to be called "mataji". She is to be a pillar of stability in familly, society or any organization. Then she can raise boys to grow up as responsible, brave, intelligent men, husbands and fathers of integrity. The circle is closed.
  18. One of the things that attracted me to Krishna consciousness was the purity of sannyasis. It is against all public modern moods: to dedicate emotions to only one person: God. We have seen in past centuries that it is a very difficult task, even children know stories about priests who secretly lead double life. Srila Prabhupada did not make any compromise: if you want to be sannyasi, say goodbye to women - no more, no less. Women are very envious by nature, and many made sannyasis fall down - that gave them some kind of power over men or something. Srila Prabhupada is acarya: he showed us the way. He was very careful to follow rules even with his own sister, who was also a wonderful vaisnavi.
  19. I planted two vrinda seeds a fortnight ago. I kept 7 seeds my godsister gave me a year ago after coming from Karttika. After few days, two fragile tulasis came up. Unfortunately, I am in room only during sleep (I work 10-12 hours), so during the day they were all alone. One of them (a fragile one) left the body after one week, because I forgot to close the door (outside it was very cold). Now she is 1 1/2 cm tall and I am in bliss to have presence of pure devotee in my room. I will need all prayers, hopes and tricks to take care of her, but now I have someone to chant with. My suggestion is to make friend with devotees who already have experience in gardening tulasis. Does anyone know when did first tulasi devi sprout in Iskcon in SAD?
  20. Very, very intelligent brains are behind these terrible stories. Master brains. They do not care abut Islam or God's message. They do not care for their own disciples or nations, for their own women and children; they are used for their master plan, which is DESTROY DESTROY AND DESTROY. Srila Prabhupada once said that it takes a pure devotee to preach to Muslims. They have a very violent history and it is their own way of life. Many of them teach children how to use guns before they learn how to write and read. Unfortunately, these situations like Russian situation will become everyday life in whole world. It is just a beginning.
  21. Srila Prabhupada's purport on SB, 4.26.10: A confused, frustrated man cannot get relief by committing suicide because suicide will simply lead him to take birth in the lower species of life or to remain a ghost, unable to attain a gross material body. Therefore the perfect course is to retire altogether from sinful activities and take up Krsna consciousness. In this way one can become completely perfect and go back home, back to Godhead. Srila Prabhupada lecture in Los Angeles on SB, 25.7.1972: Just like sometimes a man commits suicide, "I don't want this life." So what is the gain? And that is ignorance. He does not know that committing suicide... He's eternal. He's eternal. Living entity is eternal. He thinks that "By killing this body, I am free from this bodily miserable condition of life." No. He's immediately.., either he has to accept a next abominable body or he'll have to become a ghost. One who commits suicide. Ghost means no material gross life, but the mental, material subtle life is there. A ghost is carried by the subtle body: mind, intelligence and false ego. And one who gets a body, gross body... Upon this mind, intelligence and ego, one develops a gross body of five elements: earth, water, air, fire. This is the two kinds of body, a condition. And when he's actually Krsna conscious, he's transcendental to this gross and subtle body. He attains a spiritual body which is never to be finished, eternal, blissful life. So sometimes, when Krsna, He's especially kind to a person who thinks that "By... I shall execute Krsna consciousness; at the same time, I shall enjoy this material life," this is foolishness. This is foolishness. If you want Krsna, go to home, back to home, back to Godhead, then you have to finish your material desires. Because Krsna is so kind that even if you have a pinch of material desire to enjoy in this material world, He will give you a chance, "All right, you do it." That means we become entangled. Therefore, those who are executing Krsna consciousness, they should try to become free from all material desires. Srila Prabhupada's lecture in Bombay on 4.1.1975: Just like if a man becomes disappointed and he cuts his own throat or hangs him, some way or other, eats some poison, to finish, does it mean that he is finished? Na hanyate hanyamane sarire. He is rascal. He does not know. By finishing this body he is finished--no, that is not possible. The result is: because he violated the rules of nature, he becomes a ghost. That is his life. One who commits suicide, he becomes a ghost. Ghost means he does not get this material body. He remains in the subtle body, mind, intelligence. Therefore ghost can go because he is in the mind. Mind speed is very strong. If you have got this material body, you cannot go immediately hundred miles off. But if you are in the mental body, you can go immediately, thousand miles immediately, within a second. So the ghost, they can play something wonderful because... But they are not happy because they have no gross body. They want to enjoy. He's materialist. He has committed suicide for some material want. So he is want of material.., fulfilling material desire. He could not fulfill in this body; therefore commits suicide, but the desire is there. The desire is there, and he cannot fulfill it. He becomes perplexed. Therefore the ghost create disturbance sometimes. So in this way desires cannot be finished. That is not possible. Kama-sambhavah. It is not possible. Therefore the best thing is that fix up your mind in Krsna, in Krsna consciousness. Then you will be happy, the mind always engaged in Krsna's business, Planning how to satisfy Krsna. That you are, require. That is intelligence. © 1991 by Bhaktivedanta Book Trust

  24. “Acarya Kesari Sri Srimad Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami, His Life and Teachings”, by Tridandisvami Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja, pages 40-43: Ideal guru-seva … In 1925., as in previous years, the sixteen kosa Sri Navadvipa Dhama parikrama was held on the occasion of Sri Gaura Janmotsava. Thousands of devoted pilgrims performed parikrama in an enourmous sankirtana party. Srila Prabhupada went on foot in the parikrama while the Deities of Sri Sri Guru-Gauranga and Gandharvika-Giridhari were borne on the back of a large elephant. At one point, the parikrama party gathered in front of the temple of Praudha Maya in Kuliya Dvipa and the devotees listened to Srila Prabhupada relating the glories of Sri Navadvipa Dhama. Just then, the so-called brahmanas and caste gosvamis of Kuliya Navadvipa attacked. They hurled bricks, stones, hot water and soda bottles, and their assault caused pandemonium everywhere. The pilgrims were running here and there to proctect their lives, and no one cared for anyone else. The violent mob was searching for Srila Prabhupada in order to kill him, but Sri Vinodabihari Brahmacari immediately took him to a nearby bhakta’s house for protection. There, Sri Vinodabihari quickly put on Srila Prabhupada’s sannyasa dress and took his danda, giving his own white clothes to Srila Prabhupada to wear. After that, he sent Srila Prabhupada to Sridhama Mayapura, and the mob did not recognize Prabhupada in disguise. Meanwhile, the police arrived. Some time later, Sri Vinodabihari reached Mayapura safely, still dressed as a sannyasi. The corrupt police suppressed news of this event, but the famous magazine Ananda Bazara published an account of the atrocity. The educated and respectable people of Bengal were shocked to hear and read about this outrage. All the Vaisnavas were amazed at Sri Vinodabihari Brahmacari’s remarkable guru-nistha (his fixed service to his guru), and the incident was discussed everywhere. This is how Sri Vinodabihari reacted fearlessly when some injustice or atrocity threatened Srila Prabhupada or challenged Srila Prabhupada’s views. … Guru-sevaka Sri Vinodabihari Brahmacari, the foremost amongst the disciples of Srila Prabhupada, later became well-known by the name Om Visnupada Sri Srimad Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja, and he preached the words of Sri Gaurasundara all over the world, fulfilling Srila Prabhupada’s manobhista (innder desire). Some Vaisnavas say that the incident at Kuliya was an excuse for Srila Prabhupada to give his dear desciple the tridanda sannyasa dress, even though his sannyasa ceremony was held later in Katva, after Prabhupada’s disappearance. For such guru-sevaka, Sri Vinodabihari Brahmacari’s name wiill be written in gold in the annals of the Sarasvata Gaudiya Vaisnavas. Srila BV Narayana Maharaja's Return to Mathura & Vyasapuja of Srila Bhaktiprajnana Kesava Maharaja 21-22 February 2000 Mathura …. Srila Narayana Maharaja said that even if one has ananya bhakti-even to Sri Radhika-his bhakti will be zero if he has no guru-nistha. He repeated the hindi expression, "One should take his life in the palm of his hand". In other words, the disciple should take on any service, even dangerous, for Sri Gurudeva. He should sacrifice any mundane relationships, any desire, and any activity, for guru-seva. If the guru says, "Jump", you jump. He shared with the Indian devotees that everywhere he went in the West, at every airport, hundreds of western devotees from all over the world would gather to greet him. He asked rhetorically why this was so. And only he could give his own surprising answer. It was not due to he himself, as Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayan Maharaja, that he was getting so much honor and regard. Rather, it was due to the guru-nistha in his heart. Because his life is totally absorbed in his own guru, therefore people are coming to him. … Srila Narayana Maharaja gave the example of his Guru Maharaja, who gave up his white clothes, and took the sannyasi garments of Srila Prabhupada in order to protect Srila Prabhupada's life. Later he was critised by his godbrothers in a letter to Srila Prabhupada. They said that he was not a vaisnava really. He rarely attented mangala aratika, he was always was going here and there collecting money, meeting dignitaries, he did not shave his head, he wore opulent dhotis and kurtas, etc. Srila Prabhupada wrote back, "Anyone who does not respect Vinoda brahmacari is not a Vaisnava." His Godbrothers should simply see his guru nistha and guru-seva. If we give proper respect, then we can chant Hare Krsna happily.
