FOUR STAGES OF LIFE Explanations drawn from the teachings of Swami Nikhilananda, Sri Ramakrishna Math A person's duties, in the Hindu tradition, are determined by the stage of life (Ashrama) to which he belongs. Life, which is regarded by Hinduism as a journey to the shrine of truth, is marked by four stages (Ashramas) each of which has its responsibilities and obligations. These four stages of life are: 1. Brahmacharya Ashram (first 25 years) Student life -observing celibacy 2. Grihastha Ashrama (25 to 50 years) Householder (married life) 3. Vanprastha Ashrama (50 to 75 years) Scriptural studies and meditation on God 4. Sanyasa Ashrama (75 to100 years) Cultivation of God-consciousness - Monastic way of life Brahmacharya Ashram (first 25 years) The first stage of life covers the period of study, when a student cultivates his mind and prepares himself for future service to society. He lives with his teacher and regards his teacher as his spiritual father. He leads an austere life and conserves his energy, spurning the defilement of the body and mind through evil words, thoughts and deeds. He shows respect to his elders and teachers, and becomes acquainted with the cultural achievements of the race. Students, rich and poor, live under the same roof and receive the same attention from the teacher and his wife. When the studies are completed, the teacher gives the pupil the following instructions, as described in the Taittiriya Upanishad: Speak the truth. Practice Dharma. Do not neglect the study (of the Vedas). Having brought to the teacher the gift desired by him; enter the householder's life and see that the line of progeny is not cut off. Do not swerve from the truth. Do not swerve from Dharma (path of Virtue). Do not neglect personal welfare. Do not neglect prosperity. Do not neglect the study and teaching of the Vedas. Do not neglect your duties to the Gods and the Manes. Treat (revere) your mother as Goddess. Treat your father as God. Treat your teacher as God. Treat your guest as God. Whatever deeds are faultless, these are to be performed - not others. Whatever good works have been performed by us, those should be performed by you- not others. ... Grihastha Ashrama (25 to 50 years) With marriage, a person enters the second stage of life. A normal person requires a mate; his biological and emotional urges in this respect are legitimate. Debarred from marriage are those who have a dangerous ailment that may be transmitted to children, or those rare souls who, as students, forsake the world at the call of the spirit. Children endow marriage with social responsibilities. Hinduism does not regard romance as the whole of the married life. Husband and wife are co-partners in their spiritual progress, and the family provides a training ground for the practice of unselfishness. A healthy householder is the foundation of a good society, discharging his duties (may be )as a teacher, a soldier, a statesman, a merchant, a scientist, or a manual worker. He should be ambitious to acquire wealth and enjoy pleasures, but not by deviating from the path of righteousness. The following are the five great duties of a householder: 1. The study and teaching of the Vedas 2. Daily worship of the gods through appropriate rituals 3. Gratification of the departed ancestors by offering their spirits food and drink according to the scriptural injunctions 4. Kindness to domestic animals 5. Hospitality to guests, the homeless and the destitute. At this stage, the pleasures and excitements of youth appear stale and physical needs are reduced to a minimum. The third period of life is devoted to scriptural study and meditation on God. Sanyasa Ashrama (75 to100 years) During the fourth stage, a man renounces the world and embraces the monastic way of life. He is no longer bound by social laws. The call of the Infinite becomes irresistible to him; even charity and social service appear inadequate. He rises above worldly attachments, finite obligations, and restricted loyalties; he is a friend of his fellow human beings, of the gods, and of the animals. No longer tempted by riches, honour or power, a monk preserves equanimity of spirit under all conditions. He turns away from the vanities of the world, devoting himself to the cultivation of God-consciousness. Through the disciplines of the four stages of life, a Hindu learns progressive non-attachment to the transitory world. The movement of life has been aptly compared to that of the sun. At dawn the sun rises from below the horizon, and as the morning progresses it goes on radiating heat and light till it reaches the zenith at midday. During the afternoon it goes down, gradually withdrawing its heat and light, and at dusk it sinks below the horizon, a mass of radiance, to illumine other regions.

If not Islam than by what authority did the Muslim invaders destroyed Hindu temples and killed hundred and thousands of Hndu families in India who refused to submit? By what authority did the Arabs wage war against Afganistan, Persia and India? Dear Suraj, Allow me to explain what idol worship means to Hindus. Take for instance a child is born and the mother cares for the baby dearly from birth. Upon reaching certain months the child reconizes the face of the mother and is recored in its memory. If the mother moves away from the baby for a few seconds the child would gaze around and cry. Why? That is because it misses the face and security and the touch of the mother. Than comes the part of the father where the mother shows the child the father and lets him handle the baby together with her so that the baby gets accustom to the father's touch and care. Now the baby is double assured that it is more secured as there are two faces to look after it. Hinduism is like a mother. It has shown us the form of GOD from the begining and we feel comfortable and secured with the idol of GOD and the feeling that GOD exist to protect us all. The real truth is we know that GOD is formless and HE is one and at the same time we believe that GOD with all his powers can take a form and manifest in any form as desired to fulfill the devotees undying love for HIM. That is the power of GOD otherwise how could HE have created us in this form. Can you really love something which is invisible and you cannot feel? Love only comes when you imagine because if you do not imagine how would you fall in love with a girl. Surely you would want to picture her as a beauty that you would love to be with. It is same with GOD, if you do not picture HIM you will not show full devotion and love. That is the beauty of Hinduism. It gives you something to hold on to. You are not empty handed and feel unsecured. You will be lying to yourself if you say I love GOD when you do not picture HIM. Muslims on the other hand do not love GOD but Mohammed. Because they have a rough idea of how he appeared from the discription of their religious text. That is why they will flare up when you speak bad about him. All the praising of " ALLAH UAKHBAR" is just a camoulage but deep inside it's Mohammed that they love because of his assurance of wine and women in paradise. His assurance that they are superior to all others and his assurance that Islam is the only true religon of GOD. Same goes to the Christans as they have much much more love for Jesus than GOD himself. That is because they have seen the scetch of Jesus. In the end it is all a figure or idol that one holds on to. So, my advice is, you should first ask your Christian members all the questions that you have put forth except for question 8 & 9 change Christianity to Hinduism. Lord Shiva has no biginning and that is why there is no such thing as childhood stories like Krishna. Lord Shiva represents the aspect of the Supreme Being that continuously dissolves to recreate the cyclic process of creation, preservation, dissolution and recreation of the universe. Lord Shiva is the foremost of the Hindu Trinity, the other two being Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. The creation sustains itself by a delicate balance between the opposing forces of good and evil. When this balance is disturbed and sustenance of life becomes impossible, Lord Shiva dissolves the universe for creation of the next cycle so that the unliberated souls will have another opportunity to liberate themselves from bondage with the physical world. Thus, Lord Shiva protects the souls from pain and suffering that would be caused by a dysfunctional universe. In analogous cyclic processes, winter is essential for spring to appear and the night is necessary for the morning to follow. To further illustrate, a goldsmith does not destroy gold when he melts old irreparable golden jewellery to create beautiful new ornaments. Lord Shiva is the Lord of mercy and compassion. He protects devotees from evil forces such as lust, greed, and anger. He grants boons, bestows grace and awakens wisdom in His devotees. Lord Shiva, also called Tryambaka Deva (literally, "three-eyed Lord") or Trolochana, is depicted as having three eyes: the sun is His right eye, the moon the left eye and fire the third eye. The two eyes on the right and left indicate His activity in the physical world. The third eye in the center of the forehead symbolizes spiritual knowledge and power, and is thus called the eye of wisdom or knowledge. Like fire, the powerful gaze of Shiva's third eye annihilates evil, and thus the evil-doers fear His third eye.

Petrolium from earth and cooing iol from all kinds of fruts and plants. For instance connut oil is extracted form the kernel and the process is very tidies. One needs to remove the kernel from the nut and than it is grated and the milk is squeezed out and boiled to get the pure oil. A human being is the same. The body is the nut and the inner slef is the kernel and to realize the GOD withing body [nut] amn has to go through severl stages before he discovers who he really is. When you see a baby girl crawling in her fours looking for her mother hoping that the mother would cuddle her in her arms. That baby girl would eventuly grow to become a new mother herself. If you read the gospel of Vallalar (1823-05-10 - 1873-01-23) Ramalingam you would understand what I am saying. He livied and proved what he meant by saying GOD is the form of glowing flame which flame is inside all of us. Swami Ramalingam has manifested four ranges of spiritual-physical powers from his deathless body - EBP, UNO, SR Body and SR SAT Powers. His body disappeared in lieu of death, by a process of dematerialization in the concrete presence of the Divine Being of Supreme Grace-Light at his place on 30th January 1874, and that with a pre-announced intention of his to enter into all the physical bodies. These so called scienist have not found anything new but using the theory and experiennce of the eastern mysitics make an assumption that this is how it should happened and so and so. If you aks them about soul they will give a long explanation which would seem to you like they have a very deep knowledge on the subject. Lord Shiva is the LORD of this universe and withot HIM this world would come to a stand still. Lord Shiva is the destroyer of angar and HE is the proctector of the righteous. Lord Siva is in Vishnu and Lord Vishnu is in Lord Shiva. If you are a vaishnava than you would proclaim Lord Shiva as the servant of Krishna but we do not as we know the truth that the Supreme Being is Brahman and HE is Lord Shiva and also Lord Vishnu. Krishna is the manifestation of both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. So there is no one suprerior to any of the there and neither is any on the three superior to each other. All of you except Pashupat don't realise that both of us (Lord Shiva and Vishnu) are inseparable and there is no difference between us. Pashupat is aware of this and hence he has been accorded the highest honor." Having said this, Lord Shiva revealed his majestic form of Sadashiva to the Ganas. The Ganas were bewildered on seeing the whole universe existing within Sadashiva. Lord Sadashiva then transformed his appearance into that of Lord Vishnu. The Ganas also viewed the forms of deities like Indra, Surya and Lord Brahma etc. in him. They were now convinced that both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu were the same. The dawning of this realisation liberated them from their ignorance. Lord Shiva blessed the Ganas and embraced them. All the Ganas then took their position all around Mandar Mountain and readied themselves for the forthcoming attack"

Before existence of any living entity the universe was already there. How it came about is the question. If you see the desert during the day it would appear in one form and by night falls the whole landscape would have changed to a different formation. That is due to the wind and temprature that makes the changes of desert sandcape. Likewise the universe is controled by the wind and temprature and the rotation of it makes the planets oval in shape. You take a bucket of earth and leave it in a suitable place for some time, may be a month or so. After a one month period you overturn the bucket and you will find microscopic life fors moving about. That was how all life forms evolved and due to different kind of food intake in order to survive to survive. Due to changes in the temperature and molecule structure, life forms developed over millions of years to what we see now. As we can see there are still new life forms being discovered by scientist which had not been there before. So, in short life form of all entity appeared due to the atmosphere and molecules. Religion was formed very much later when the developed man needed some kind of guidence and laws to control society. If man was so advance from birth as what the religious books say than why were there premitive men? How they learn to make tools to hunt and discovered how to make fire. Before that they were only eating uncooked meal such and raw meat and other product of the forest. Only after discover how to make fire did they learn to barbecued raw meat. The concept of religon and GOD only appeared very very much later. The uncivilized humans were a very barbaric and some developed brains contemplated on how to make this humans to lead an orderly life. And so religion was born with conditions such as respecting the five elements and special rituals to appease the fire provided warmth during the cold nights and helps to cook the meat for consumption. And so FIRE became God for the first civilzation. In truth there is no creator but self creation only. There are mnay ways to explain but due to parental guidence and teachings left by the elders that made society grow and developed into a civilization. And so, there is no such thing as GOD because it was man who created HIM and without man there is no GOD. Who is to mention the name GOD if man is not here? Where, did you get the notion like that? Gurus are to be respected. A Guru is a guide who teaches us the path to wisdom. If one does not like his teachings or his ways just withdraw form him. Calling names and bickering shows low mentality. One who does not agree with the Gurus teaching can always find some other Guru instaed of finding fault and cursing. Yes, you are right when you say "we follow the master concoction". The Muslims and Christians had easy ezcees to our mother land because of the split in our religious belief. They had the path laid out for them to convert those who are disgusted with infighting and so India was over powered by aliens. It is shamefull but the truth is clear. Brahmins supressed the non brahmins for thousands of years than came the barbarians who supressed all including the brahmins. Later came the traders calling themselve the company [EIC] and headed by an unknow white pig in his home land called Robert Clive who found it was so easy to con the Indians. Islam is the official religion of Malaysia and non Muslims have no say whatsoever if any rulings are made in accordance with Islam. It is understood that the brother os the deceased is a convert. The religious department should be blamed for the secret convertion of Moorthy while bed ridden in hospital. But I think if the civil courts can hear this matter surely evidence will prove that when a person is seriously ill whatever decision he makes without the presence of his wife and children is nullified. But sad to say the civil courst in Malaysia has no juridiction to here Islamic matters. There was a case in the state of Trengganu where 20 Malays had renounced Islam and was arrested by religious body and charged in the syriah court for murtad. These people demanded to be heard in the civil court as the Malaysian constitution guarantees freedom of religioon to its citizen. But the Islamic court says that is not privilaged to Malays as the constitution says all Malays are Mulsim by birth and has no right to convert to any other religion. The article only applies to non Muslims. So, in Malaysia any case pretaining to Islam will not be tried in the civil court but the syriah and if involves non Muslims they are forbbdin to enter an Islamic court. This is what Malaysia calls "JUSTICE" to all. They world is laughing at Malaysia.

No one can take away what is original. Buddhism/Sikhism were founded my someone whereas Hinduism or Sanadhana Dharma has no founder and has been rooted into the lives of Hindus irrespective of race. It is the religion of the Indians for thousands of years. So how can an imposter with a concocted cult take away what is ours from the biginnning of time. Hinduism will live till end of time while Islam and Christianity would disappear from the face of earth soon. Hinduism is a way of life. Whatever we do is what the vedas prescribed for us. So our daily life is Hinduism whereas Islam is only for Fridays and Christianity is only for Sundays. Look at the Hindu temples around the world, we have daily prayers and rituals and Hindus congregate daily at temples. The gathering in Mosque and Churches are only on Fridays and Sundays. Please give a logical explanation otherwise let an expert answer such matters. Hindusim is not a fairy tail but has solid reasons for such for all purpose. Hindu men converting to Islam or Christianity in Malaysia is specificly for one reason and that is woman. Yes, it's true that Malay women by nature are beautiful and that is the one reason for Hindu men converting to Islam to marry a Malay woman.
