Satguru Subramuniyaswami says Bhagavad Gita is not scripture
Bhakta Don Muntean replied to a topic in The Hinduism Forum
Hari Bolo! The Four original Vedas: RK - Yajus - Sama and - Atharva The other texts come after these and are explications on these. Regarding the Gita - Srila Prabhupada says this in a letter dated - June 14, 1974: ...In one sense it is both sruti and smrti... In the literal sense 'sruti' is taken as "revealed" and 'smrti' is taken as "remembered". For us however - all the Vedic texts are 'revealed' - either directly or - indirectly. As Srila Prabhupada notes in that quoted letter: ...The purport of sruti is to make one advanced in understanding the Absolute Truth. Here the Absolute Truth is explaining personally, therefore the Gita should be taken as sruti. But they take it as smrti because it is part of the Smriti (Mahabharata). In this letter dated January 23, 1970 Srila Prabhupada notes: We have to receive transcendental sound through the transcendental channel, therefore, Vedas are called Sruti. That means transcendental sound can be received through the ear. And by hearing this transcendental sound through the ear our heart becomes spiritually purified, and we can realize at that stage the transcendental Name, transcendental Qualities, transcendental Form, transcendental Pastimes etc. That is the way of descending process. Because everything manifested is creation of the original transcendental Sound, therefore, factually everything is spiritual. But being covered by material cloud, we do not appreciate properly the spiritual nature of everything. The Krishna Consciousness Movement means gradually advancing towards that stage of spiritual realization. As such, the philosophy of acintya bhedabheda tattva is perfect. Everything is simultaneously one and different from the Supreme. One in quality because the original source is the Spiritual Whole, and different in quantity. This quantitative difference becomes more and more separate by increase of material consciousness. Of course we have an understanding of Lord Siva which is correct - Lord Siva, is a Mahajana - one of the twelve authorities in the universe and - while He is God 'in contact with His material energy - in charge of the mode of ignorance' or 'He is God in the same way that Yogurt is Milk' - under His direction we see Him as the topmost Vaishnava. We understand that on His Mala [prayer beads] He is chanting the Names of Vishnu and - that while in meditation - He is focused on Vishnu. In the Gita - Srila Prabhupada writes of Siva: ...He is the incarnation of the Supreme Lord in charge of the modes of ignorance in the universe... [bG, 10.23, purport] BDM -
Satguru Subramuniyaswami says Bhagavad Gita is not scripture
Bhakta Don Muntean replied to a topic in The Hinduism Forum
"AHIM" - Are you taking it that it means 'a snake'? I think the two words are not related... 'Himsam' - "violence" or - 'himsaya' - "by violence" - these are not the same - though the root word may be - that I do not know... BDM -
Satguru Subramuniyaswami says Bhagavad Gita is not scripture
Bhakta Don Muntean replied to a topic in The Hinduism Forum
Well this 'guru' cannot change the fact that Vishnu is counted as above Shiva - starting within the RK Veda. Also - if that 'guru' thinks that the Gita is preaching violence - he has no understanding. If a police officer sees an assault and they smack the criminal over the head with their flashlight to stop the assault - is that violence? It's like the cutting of a person by a surgeon in an operation theator vs. the cutting of a person by some guy in the street. Krishna wasn't preaching that Arjuna engage violence - he was to engage his duty. What is the primary scipture of Shavites? How can we say that isn't scripture? What we must understand is that all the vedic texts outside of the four original Vedas are not exactly scriptures. There are two kinds of holy writngs - revealed and remembered - the Shavite texts are the latter. So I think this is the real point of contention for this 'guru' - this point Krishna makes oh so well: Whatever a man may sacrifice to other gods, O son of Kunti, is really meant for Me alone, but it is offered without true understanding. [bG 9.23] Just my opinion... -
That is a foolish proposal. It isn't Isalm that is the problem it's a bunch of demons who are apostate to that faith. To pray for the kind of attack in the manner that you've noted would be as bad. God shall dispose of those responsible and when they leave their bodies the constables of Yamaraja are going to show them WHY they are demons... We pray that God does away with those responsible and - that is not Islam. However - those that are responsible and are creating so much hate for Muslims by these homocide bombings are [at some point] going to be 'dealt with' by Muslims who are going to see the threat to them and their futures - by these freak murderer types. So don't pray for the destruction of Mecca - pray for the end of these murdering extremists by their own - from within. BDM

May God help all those killed and/or hurt by this attack! May Lord Narasinghadeva rip these freaks into little scraps for the vultures and the dogs! Again are these types - 'freedom fighters' or - terrorist HOMOCIDE BOMBERS? Well their continued actions are so EVIL that there is no doubt what these 'fighters' are becoming - the terror in a Holy place - and recently in Iraq the destruction of holy places - oh just see God Lure them into a dark hole! I'm not sure who has claimed responsibility but if it turns out to be Muslims - they have NO CLAIM to the NAME of GOD - the NAME ALLAH - is shamed by their evil acts! It wasn't Muslims that did this - it was DEMONS. I see dark times ahead for these demons - do they think that God is going to sit by and let this [all of it it all over the place now] go? God shall empower their counter-point leaders - NOW! Just watch and see - God shall give Bush and his Team the 'right stuff' to do this job. Just see - all the 'good' people everywhere - who may have tried to understand these nasty people - now all are fully disgusted by them. Demons! I pray that Lord Narahari get these freaks from - WITHIN - we shall see... Quote: Srila Prabhupada would cringe everytime he was referred to as a conservative Reply: But you must follow the rules and regulation as it is enjoined in the shastra. Not that “Krsna will give me protection and I may do whatever I like. I can eat anything I like, I can do anything I like.” Just some rascal advises that “There is no such thing, restriction, in the self realization. You can eat anything, you can do anything.” People like that program. And as soon as there is restriction, they do not like. Because we put so many restriction, I am called in the western world, “Swamiji, you are very conservative.” So we have to become conservative, follow the rules. Not that we give liberty, that “Whatever you like, you do, and at the same time you make progress, spiritual life.” That is not possible. [bG 4.21, lecture, 1974] Somebody says that “Swamiji is very conservative. He has got so many rules and regulations,” but I have not introduced one percent. One percent. Because it is not possible to introduce all those rules and regulations in your country. My policy is following the footstep of Rupa Goswami. He says that somehow or other, let them become first of all attached to Krsna. [bG 7.1, lecture, 1968] That poet Allen Ginsberg, he said, “Swamiji, you are very conservative.” No, I am the most liberal. You do not know. If I become conservative, then none of you will come to me. [sB 1.2.10, lecture, 1973] we are so much conservative. Because if we are actually after Krsna, then we must accept the real method [Room Conversation, April 02, 1972] So we can see that Prabhupada was very conservative - but for practical purposes he couldn't relate in his level of 'purity' to our 'impurity'. Conservatism - that is what we have - sure Vedic culture while very broad - is indeed very conservative - from our modern liberal view. In fact - it is this modern 'liberal' view that is at the crux of the decay in our society and in every society - it isn't the fault of any one nation or person or group - it is a proclivity of kali yuga - the Age of Quarrel. Liberal has come to mean 'without restrictions' - it seems that the morality issue for example is one of conservative or liberal. One is either for restictions and responsibilites or they're for things like - abortion. We do need to see our conservative leaders fine-tune their conservative understandings - of course one who is a 'true' conservative wouldn't ever abuse others. Today's liberals have to see that they want the same things as conservatives prosperity freedom and - a security in these. SO we again consider Srila Prabhupada and - his time and circumstances appraoch to things. For example: the Lord is situated in everyone’s heart as the witness, and as such He is the supreme director of sanction. The director is not the enjoyer of the fruits of action, for without the Lord’s sanction no one can enjoy. For example, in a prohibited area a habituated drunkard puts forward his application to the director of drinking, and the director, considering his case, sanctions only a certain amount of liquor for drinking. Similarly, the whole material world is full of many drunkards, in the sense that each and every one of the living entities has something in his mind to enjoy, and everyone desires the fulfillment of his desires very strongly. The almighty Lord, being very kind to the living entity, as the father is kind to the son, fulfills the living entity’s desire for his childish satisfaction. With such desires in mind, the living entity does not actually enjoy, but he serves the bodily whims unnecessarily, without profit. The drunkard does not derive any profit out of drinking, but because he has become a servant of the drinking habit and does not wish to get out of it, the merciful Lord gives him all facilities to fulfill such desires. [sB, 2.9.25, purport] So in this way too the government is to regulate ALL such things: Similarly, although the government may license liquor shops, this does not mean that liquor shops should be opened unrestrictedly and illicit liquor smuggled. Licensing is meant for restricting. [sB, 4.22.34, purport] So in this way a good government may regulate such activities - and they should be both - liberal and yet conservative - enough so to see the need for further adjustments in this connection. Where? In connection to another long-standing 'prohibition' - one that is costing billions and billions of dollars in North America - resources needed for other things. So that is just some small thoughts on this - just see here the conservative Srila Prabhupada being very liberal: Prabhupada: Yes. That if you want to eat meat and chicken, then you first of all sacrifice before that deity. So at least they’ll be restricted from eating meat purchased from slaughterhouse. But this rascal civilization, one side they’re advertising “Stop cruelty to animals,” another side they’re opening unrestricted slaughterhouse. Just see. One side they’re allowing marriage of woman every week, another side contraceptive. Just see their contradiction. [Morning Walk, 1974] Of course I like this: ...how good dictatorship can be a bad thing?...my proposition is that they should not commit, either the king or the elected person should not commit mistake. But if you try to educate the mass of people to become educated to elect the right person, that is very difficult. But if a king, a person, is educated nicely, that is easier. That is my point of view [Room Conversation, July 23, 1973] Quote: These are skull and bones types, satan worshippers Reply: Bush isn't a satanist and that 'skull and bones' club at yale isn't a satanic group - they are a college fraternity with a big rumor for a reputation - their lodge isn't even used anymore. So many rumors. I was once in the occult [the real occult not the hollywood occult] if truth be told many people used to call me 'devil don' in high school! Yes it's true! Due to rumors and the like - that was my nickname. Of course I understand all these things in proper perspective now. I also well understand that it is very foolish to use occultic measures to change things. [for the few who understand it's real power] The new world order isn't a lucifer worshipping cult [lucifer is a fiction] - despite the many rumors about that. If anything - they worship Vishnu in one of His many Forms. Quote: As far as my stance on abortion, I stand for the denial of the pharmaceuticals of their human carcass. Reply: That isn't very clear now is it? What is your position? I think you're commenting on aborted fetal stem-cell use - of course that is a sick practice and is one reason abortion must be made criminal - so that diseased people do not have to made into lab rats - with this contaminated process. Here is Srila Prabhupada's position: The so-called civilized man does not take account of this horrible condition of life, and sometimes, for the purpose of sense gratification, he tries to kill the child by methods of contraception or abortion. Unserious about the horrible condition in the womb, such persons continue in materialism, grossly misusing the chance of the human form of life. [sB, 3.31.17, purport] At the present moment, however, in this age of Kali, abortion—killing of the child within the womb—has become very common, and sometimes a child is even killed after birth. If a woman performs such an abominable act, she gradually loses all her bodily luster [sB 6.16.14, purport] Therefore it may be simply he’s wandering from one womb to another, one womb to another. Because he committed that sinful activity abortion. Now the man who causes his abortion, he also being punished, that “You’ll never see the light of this world. You’ll simply have to live one womb to another, one womb to another. Go on.” So nature’s punishment is like that. But these foolish people they do not know. [bG 2.12 lecture, 1973] YS, BDM

I Pray that Mr. Bush [and all souls] approach Lord Narasinghadeva - just as Pralahda Maharaja did [note: I've changed the Lord's color in this picture:

Here is the original painting - does it look like I took anything out of the picture with Lord Rama - does it look 'original' like that?

Do Vaishnavas keep pets like dogs & cats?
Bhakta Don Muntean replied to aisharya's topic in Spiritual Discussions
Indeed. Get a pet you'll be better for it and your karmi connections will see us actually loving animals - beyond just not eating them. How would our world improve if people would take in the stray cats and dogs - without having to see them in a cage at the pound! If only people could see that to love a pet - in a way that befits a devotee is a grand thing we might have fewer people hurting animals and people. -
...So here are comments Mr. Bush made today regarding India: "...home to a proud civilization. Thousands of years ago the people of this region built great cities, established trading routes with distant lands, and created wonders of art and architecture. Its reputation for wealth and wisdom attracted many..." [my italics] BDM

Well that is a nice way to 'not' encourage? I think that when he is in India - he shall see Krishna - somewhere. He is still seen nearly 'everywhere' there - right? I'm praying that Lord Krishna reaches out to him and leaves a lasting impression - enough so - that he seeks out Srila Prabhupada's Books etc., yes - it is possible and - it is needed for himself and - our world. I'm not saying that he's going to convert or anything [but we can hope] but he shall - with God's Grace broaden his perview in spiritual matters. He is going to experiance the dynamic Krishna - within his own heart. Also - if there are jobs going to India - so what!? The west has had it all - [to some measure] at the expense of other countries [like India] - so now we have to include them. Of course there is the issues of 'slave labor' in these countries - in terms of very low pay - but - it is a start. Countries like India have a lot to offer and they have needs too - so we have to accept that we do live in a global economy and - in this regard we have to continue to make the right adjustments - to this global economy - that each part 'neatly' serves the others - that is the goal for the future. We cannot look at our western economies as being strong - at the expense of these other's. So in that regard - if Mr. Bush is going to send some jobs to India [and other places] - that is very good. So while Mr. Bush is in India I'm praying that Krishna reaches out to him... YS, BDM

Hari Bolo! Thank you - I'm very pleased to hear that! Yes Mr. Bush Jr. is going to look into those books - soon I hope - but - he shall at some point! Thank you for that information! YS, BDM

Top Egyptian Cleric Justifies Suicide Terrorism
Bhakta Don Muntean replied to krsna's topic in World Review
Quote: suicide bombers simply are ´defending their land.´ Reply: They are not fighters - they are homocide bombers as in - murderers. There are NO excuses for their style of 'war'! God tells us - in all sciptures - that such 'irregular fighting' leads to hell - so what is that 'grand mufti' really doing - by telling these lies to his followers. How many murders were committed by people who accepted these lies? Also - this whole earth is God's property and only a loser shall claim it as his own - that means that all the nationalistic barking - is really just that - barking. One day all these civilian killers are going to see an Ugly Face of God - yes - at last - they are going to see that He has His own prison house too... All through this conflicted middle-east there are justifications of heinous actions – heinous actions are used to justify heinous actions – where can there be peace and success for any of the parties within this scenario? The conflicted parties must all see their own heinous actions as reprehensible – not matter any 'natural' pressure to do otherwise – in so dong they are going to see that they are both suffering with extra karmic issues - quite needlessly - within this point-counter point conflict. Some people like to think that employing violences for making changes - are natural consequences of political life but – the fact is - it is really a sad consequence of itself – violence only begets violence. Why is it that the terror goes on but there are no actual changes for the good? Who cannot see how stupid that question is! That is the point – in this area of conflict - the parties are more and more fighting for the wrong purposes – they’re fighting for revenge - not reform and – they’re fighting without rules or regulations. Who cannot see that it seems that they must exponentially out-do each others atrocities – indeed it’s becoming the sickest one-upmanship process one could imagine. These parties wrongly identify with their own justifications of their violent reactions - as opposed to rejecting such justifications - irrespective of the circumstances. The comments [false justifications] made by the 'Grand Mufti' do not help the Arab's nor the Palestinians in particular - this connection. BDM -
Anger can be placed into ‘standby’ - if we are focusing our thoughts on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Krishna – in that way - we are not thinking or ‘contemplating’ about the issues that are making us angry. That is the key - not to ‘over’ contemplate the things that make us upset. Of course reading and remembering scriptures etc., helps in this connection – in fact it is the only measure that shall check it each time. Sort of like stubbing your toe and knowing not to run up the stairs again – when we encounter the stairs and start to desire to run up – the memory kicks in ‘ouch I stubbed my toe that time’ – thus one’s memory checks the propensity to run up the stairs. Just like when someone says some nasty thing to us – we can let the words go into our heart and roll around in there – causing a great mess or – we can recall what the scriptures tell us about situations like that. The trick with anger is to not let thoughts of the ‘cause’ linger in your memory – and chanting and contemplating the scriptures as often as possible is the best route to go. For instance as another example – when you are out walking and say you are about to fall down on ice – it should become reflex that you chant out “Krishna” – if we can train ourselves to call out to Krishna - in times of acute need – then it shall become easier to deal with anger issues too – as when we feel a slip coming – we can call out to Krishna – as a matter of reflex – that gives us a second - to avoid letting the thoughts turn into emotions and later - into words and actions. Over the years I have come to see the scriptures as an owners ‘manual’ for our lives. If we buy state of the art electronics – we get a manual to tell us how to use the functions and there are even troubleshooting sections – hardly anyone would try to use a complicated electronics without ever looking at the manual – especially if a function goes awry - after a while we’ll know that information and it’ll be there in our memory each time we use that equipment – thus there shall tend to be less stress in the use of such ‘complicated’ equipment. Similarly – in our lives – we need to have in our memory the right information that’ll help us to make the right adjustments in complicated situations. YS, BDM

Hare Bolo! Quote: Maybe I was being too hard on myself, my problem is that I have issues with issues like you said, maybe I just need to give it a little time and let Krsna take over... Reply: Yes - I agree... YS, BDM

Dear Soul: Yes I know that it is very difficult to chant right now - but you must try - you can also listen to the Prabhupada MP3 chanting 'tape' - listen to Kirtan as well - if you cannot chant - you can hear. It is very sad that your father was taken - he did however leave during the sun's northern course - so he shall see a pious birth. Having you as progeny also helps his future greatly. I'm no stranger to loss of loved ones - I do know what you are feeling. A little about my experiences - my dad died just three months before I was born - so all through my childhood I was aware how 'death' took away my dad - I used to be very sad as a young boy about that. Over time though I came to accept that there was a reason for this. Then later after I moved away from home in 1984 - my mom re married in 1986 - it just so happened that it was from him that I got my original Bhagavad Gita. His father [who was into eastern thought] had bought it from a devotee in 1974 - and after his dad passed away the many books he had just sat on a shelf [for 10 years] until he met my mom and they were married. One day in the summer of 1986 I was at their house and I saw these books - of course I was into eastern and other mystical things - so I was impressed to say the least. So 'dad' said I could have all these books - there were books from lobsang rampa and other spiritual and religious books and - of course - there was this nice big Gita - with all these neat pictures in it. So I took all the books home and over the course of a month or two I read through all the books - except the Gita - which I only looked at for the pictures. After a while when I was bored with the other books - they were simply what I already knew - I began to read the Gita. I ended up giving all the books away - except the Gita. So over time I began to read and surrender - it's another posting to tell you how Krishna won my heart. So in any case now - I can see why I lost my dad before my birth and had to be raised by a single mom who was a widow - I later was given the greatest boon through a 'new dad'. Later my stepfather passed away as well - from heart attack. It was a Thursday around 1 PM - December 02, 1993 - I was at work and I was helping a customer choose between ceramics and marble for her foyer floor and - the phone rang. I went to the phone and picked it up and the customer and I could hear a shrill screaming - as soon as the phone was picked up - it was my mom. The call was to tell me that my step dad was on the kitchen floor - dead. [the very nice customer stayed with me until someone from the south store could come to take my place at work] There is a very sad factor to this - the [loser] doctor was called and the doctor came with the paramedics - he was there in minutes - he left the defibulator [heart shocker machine] outside – with the paramedics! He just took a pulse and said "he’s dead" and took an afghan [my mom made] off their sofa covered him up and that was that – he never tried to resuscitate my step dad – so my mom was even more hurt by that. In 1991 my brother died in an MVA and she never came to terms with that – so when her second husband died – she blamed God. She had to raise me and four other boys ranged in age from 9-4 [and me being a new born!] alone after my dad died on March 11, 1967 – she thus thought that God was being cruel and somehow punishing her [by taking another husband away] – her first marriage to my dad was only for 11 years – then she was alone – then her second marriage to my stepfather was only for 7 years – so she was feeling quite forsaken by God. So when I went to my stepfather’s funeral my mom was in a terrible state – and it was my soft chanting of japa in her presence that helped her to see through the extreme pain – she later told me that. My mother did remarry a year later in 1994 [and is still very happily married thank God] and in 1996 another of my brothers died – this one - in an apparent suicide – she of course didn’t take that very well and still doesn’t – but the interesting thing about this brother is that he took a Gita that I gave him and was praying to Krishna and getting reciprocation – only his situation was very bad from other perspectives – he was an alcoholic and a hunter – it wasn’t a very good combination for him – he struggled with many issues and these two were the cause of most of them. So when I leaned that he was dead I was very sad for him and at the same time - I was happy to know that he surrendered a little to Krishna – he truly accepted Krishna as God [he at last knew there was a God] – so I know that God took him into a better life – I’m sure that his new life is now - free of the hunting and other base activities he was in bondage to - in this last life. There are other points I will tell you later – but suffice it to say – Krishna takes care of all souls – all souls are connected - through Krishna. There is a point for us to consider – we need to work on our personal relationship with the Lord – as He is the only one that isn’t going to 'desert' us or die or otherwise leave us alone. We are always connected to Him. That is very comforting – knowing that no matter what – you'll have Him. We can and do lose all other relationships but - we don’t have to lose 'that one'. We are also connected to His empowered servants such as - Srila Prabhupada. He [srila Prabhupada] is whom you must turn to at this or at any time of distress. He will reach out to you – if you know ‘that’ is what you want. He shall leave us alone if 'that' is what we want. Please don’t come to want 'that'. Please let this time bring you closer to Him. I’m working on some quotes for you – I hope to post them by tonight. It will be soon. Do you have a “Veda base”? If not – please download the old ‘dos version’ – it is fairly easy to use and it’s FREE – you can use the search feature and find out directly from Srila Prabhupada’s books and lectures and conversations etc., - you can search ‘soul’ and ‘death’ – search any words – and get all the information – you’ll like this: http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?26500000037010 The program is only cumbersome in terms of the fact that it isn’t like modern windows – but you’ll figure it out quick. Just read the included info for install [there should be something there] and you’re on your way! I can help you and there are others here that can help you with that if you run into some issues using the program – so please check that out soon! Don’t worry – God is with you and - with your dad! Take care and until next time… Yer servant, BDM

Quote: I hope that the Ambassador renounces the noted comments. Reply: Well we can see that he hasn't [yet] retracted the comments. Reading the news today we see: One of Rice's main goals is to line up Egyptian and Saudi Arabian officials… http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=aAZtXbpIFTA4 Well of course when the ambassador of Saudi Arabia made these odd comments: he distinguished the suicide attacks carried out by Palestinian groups against Israel, saying the attacks were justified by groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihad as "legitimate means of war under occupation." He was indicating that they might not [yet] be on the same page as the Whitehouse [and the west in general]. Of course Dr. Rice wants to encourage them to do the right thing but there may be some limitations in these allies - as long as there are apologetics like these. It would seem that the Whitehouse should ask the ambassador to retract his noted comments. All through this conflict [and others too] there are justifications of heinous actions – heinous actions are used to justify heinous actions – where can there be peace and success for the parties within this scenario? The conflicted parties must both see their own heinous actions as reprehensible – not matter the 'natural' pressure to do otherwise – in so dong they are going to see that they are both suffering with extra karmic issues - needlessly - in this point-counter point conflict. Some people like to think that using violence for making change is a natural consequence of political life but – the fact is - it is really a sad consequence of itself – violence only begets violence. I don’t want to be all preachy about Lord Jesus here but that is the logic in His great understanding of Karma in preaching - ‘turn the other cheek’ – he knew that - ‘an eye for an eye’ - was basically 'the natural law of God'. He however admonished people - to rise above this – in doing this He was basing His understanding within the wisdom books of the holy scriptures: Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him, let him be filled full with reproach. {S} For the Lord will not cast off for ever. [Lamentations 3.30-31] So what does that mean ‘the Lord will not cast off for ever’ – that means that if God forgives eventually then - so must we? Naturally! Even in Koran it is written thus: And there are some people who say: We believe in Allah and the last day; and they are not at all believers. They desire to deceive Allah and those who believe, and they deceive only themselves and they do not perceive. There is a disease in their hearts, so Allah added to their disease and they shall have a painful chastisement because they lied. And when it is said to them, Do not make mischief in the land, they say: We are but peace-makers. Now surely they themselves are the mischief makers, but they do not perceive. [Koran 2.8-12] do not quarrel for then you will be weak in hearts and your power will depart, and be patient; surely Allah is with the patient. [Koran 8.46] Those who spend [benevolently] in ease as well as in straitness, and those who restrain [their] anger and pardon men; and Allah loves the doers of good [to others]. [Koran 3.134] So of course one cannot be "patient" and violent too – we need to "restrain anger and pardon" because that is what God wants. To quote the rest of the original Lamentations quote: For though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies. For He doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men. {S} To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not. {S} [Lamentations 3.32-36] To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not. So there is something for both sides to consider too! So what is that all mean for these parties? It means that they all have to see the truth - as it is there in front of all of them. The door to the way out of this mess for all of them - is in fact - outlined in those few quotes! So we can hope that Ms. Rice is going to be able to reach these ‘officials’ in particular – the Saudi Arabians. The Saudis are good people and their leaders aren’t all that bad and - I am sure that the comments made by the ambassador shall actually be a pretext for some real discussion within these parties. Again I like this quote from the Talmud – it is very practical in this connection – this should be the mood for both conflicted parties: It is better to have ten inches to stand upon than a hundred yards to fall. [Avoth d'Rab. Nathan, chapter 1] Both sides have needs and both sides have to see to each other’s needs – and I see good things in the future – even Bush and Co. – they are going through a very good transformation – I can sense it. We can avoid age of quarrel unleashed – we don’t have to see that level of conflict before we understand – no matter where in the world we live. There are many rogue leaders out there too and they are going to have to consider that the world’s goal is to isolate them – and there is no doubt that there shall be assistance from Providence in the doing so. All the leaders [and their parties] in the world are at a crossroads – they must choose to create a future and not any more hell on earth – anywhere on earth. May God Bless the Leaders and - thus help them to do the right thing. BDM

Dear Friend: First let me say that I am sorry that I didn’t reply to your post yesterday – I did intend to! Reading your posting I feel for you and your great loss – even when we have understanding and knowledge – it can still be very difficult to come to peace with the loss of a loved one – such as your father. Certainly we must know that God accompanies all spirit souls as the ‘supersoul’ – wherever we may go – He is there with us. I shall present some nice quotes for you later tonight or tomorrow. The Mantra you should surrender to in this connection is of course the Maha Mantra – which you know is: “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare - Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare” This mantra shall give you great strength! When my stepfather passed away in the early 1990’s - it helped my [Catholic] mother - to hear this mantra. In my next posting to you I shall explain more. Just know that through the Supersoul you are still connected to your father… BDM

Hi Sam! Do you have an issue with anger or just an issue with 'issues' that make you angry - that is where we should start. The chanting part comes when we call out like the child calling for mother - with full anxiety - if we chant but don't have that sense of hopeless urgency - to get away from the cause of suffering - it isn't the same. Do you know what the Gita says about anger? The causes? BDM
