  1. I posted it in Hinduism forum. Hope to get more responses here. It is written in Ramayan that Dashrath knew shabd bhedi baan i.e. he could shoot an arrow by hearing the sound of the target. Mahabharat says that Eklavya also had the knowledge of this art. Are there examples of any of the following having this knowledge? :- Bhisma, Pandu, Karna, Arjuna, Rama, Laxmana, Parashurama, Valmiki, Luv, Kush I understand that they were great archers and therefore, they must be knowing shabd bhedi baan. But I want to know the stories in which this knowledge of theirs is depicted. Could you please post those stories? One more question:- In Rama-Ravana war, Indrajit became invisible using his illusory power. Why did Rama not shoot at him based on his voice? Thanks.
  2. Yes, Laxman was destined to kill Indrajit as per the boon to Indrajit by Brahma. But there must have been some reason for Ram not to attack Indrajit. I am talking about some reason which ordinary mortals feel as reason even though correct reason is God's leela.
  3. When Indrajit became invisible, then why did Rama not use his knowledge of shabd bhedi baan? He could have shot at Indrajit by hearing his voice. Why did he not do that?
  4. Yes Eklavya. I forgot that. Thanks. Any other? Any story related to Ram, Laxman, Karn, Arjun? I believe they must be knowing this art. But I want to know if there are related stories. If I remember correctly, then I think it is written in Ramayan that Ram used his knowledge of shabd bhedi baan to shoot at Tatka when she disappeared using her illusory power. But I am not sure.
  5. Yes, I have read that Prithviraj Chauhan knew shabd bhedi baan. I want to know if there are stories in Ramayan, Mahabharat, Puranas about this art? I am aware of only one such story in which Dashrath kills Shravan Kumar mistaking him to be an elephant drinking water.

  7. What?? You read these books when you were less than 8 year old? What about comics? Amazing! At that age, I did not care whether I imbibed anything or not. When I read my school books, I used to mostly memorize so that I could write answers in exams. No wonder, you have such a good knowledge of scriptures.
  8. I have read in some scriptures that Vishnu incarnated as Rama. Hare Krishnas believe that Rama is eternally present in spiritual world. My questions is:- Who incarnated as Rama? Did Vishnu incarnate as Rama? Or did Rama of spiritual world incarnate as Rama of Ayodhya on Earth?
  9. I was once reading Brahm Vaivart Puran. In that Lord Krishna explains various ekadashis. Then I thought of trying and I found it easy to observe fasts.
  10. Many people believe that if an owl makes sound near some house, then something bad will happen to people in that house. Why is it believed so?
  11. You may not like this answer but I observe Ekadashi fast because I enjoy going without food and water:) (of course for only one day;)). Moreover, it is a good way of making sure that I do not become overweight.
  12. I posted Shaun in Hindi in the Sanskrit forum. You posted the same question in that forum also and I replied there. [url="http://www.indiadivine.org/audarya/../showthread.php?p=1072207#post1072207"]
  13. The climate of your residence that you have described is very good for Tulsi.
  14. You must cut the dry manjaries. But cut only when they have become really completely dried. If you do not cut dry manjaries, then rest of tulsi plant will dry faster. This will be far worse for her.
  15. Yes, the problem is because I do not have proper unicode. Earlier I had Ariel Unicode. Then I could see clearly. For some reason, I do not have that font now. The reason I posted this message is because I know that the problem is related to font. But those who post requests for transliteration into Devanagari may not know. They may think that the the way it appears on their PC is the correct way to write in Devanagari.
  16. M- Mother A- mArry R-Rabbit IE - SEE
  17. You have written that I is pronounced like I of CHILLY and last E in Marie like Y of CHILLY. But I think that in chilly both i and y are pronounced the same way. This means i and e of Marie should be pronounced the same way. So, two i sounds and therefore more emphasis. I guess ie of Marie is pronounced like ee of see. Let me know if this is correct. Otherwise, let me know the exact pronunciation. If you find it appropritate, you can use some phonetic symbols.
  18. Isn't Marie pronounced the same way as girl name Marry?
  19. From the image you have posted, I can say that it is something related to sewing of clothes. It contains words like button, pocket etc.
  20. The image is not clear. In the paper, something is written with ink. Wherever there is ink, apply ink over that once more. Remember to apply ink over only the place where already there is ink and not anywhere else. Then scan the image and post it here.
  21. Forgot to add. Tulsi requires less water in cold climate because it does not dry as fast as in hot climate.
  22. drkpp, In your answers the matras are not in correct place. May be because unicode font is not installed? For example, what you have written for Colin will be read as Colni.
  23. You wrote that I is pronounced like I of Island. But, as I know, I of Island is pronounced as eye. I knew that is not the case and that I must be pronounced like I of India. That is why I wrote that. I repeat:- To write a name in Hindi, it is not important how you spell in English. But what is important is how you pronounce it. In other words, phonetics are important. Let me guess the pronunciation E - Elephant LL - Chilly I - India O - Doctor TT - Tom (but with more emphasis on T because there are two T's) If the above is correct, then you write Elliott as given below:- If you pronounce it differently, then let me know how you pronounce it. You are telling me how you spell it. I understand from your post that you spell it as Elliott. But that is not important. I want to know how you read it. I want to know the phonetics. As an example, consider the word CAT. You write it as CAT. But how do you read it? You read it as KAT. Likewise, I want to know how you read your name. elliott.bmp
