  1. Good observations Prabhu. Please find my comments below: Sure. It is an eternal NOW. No yesterday, no tomorrow. As it is stated in Brahma-Samhita: [...Nimeshaardhaakhyo Va Vrajati Nahi Yatrapi Samayah... "...here there is eternal existence of transcendental time, who is ever present and without past or future and hence is not subject to the quality of passing away even for the space of half a moment...." - BS 5.56 - http://vedabase.net/bs/5/56/en ] There is no yesterday and today. Eternally the time is NOW. It is the NOW that only exists. Therefore it is stated in Brahma-Samhita: "...hence is not subject to the quality of passing away even for the space of half a moment..." In the Spiritual world, the space will be absolute in the sense that the space is also fully spiritual entity serving Krishna. Spiritual world means that there is no matter and hence everything is eternally dynamic in nature always rendering loving devotional service to Krishna. Hare Krishna!
  2. Good reply Thiestji. Also, Srila Prabhupada did mention that there was only one flag, one religion (Vedic religion) even during the time of Parikshit Maharaja. The coming of different people cultures can be explained by the fact that each and every individual is unique, but at the same time there are some characteristics which are similar between the individuals and they tend to gravitate together due to those similarities, thus forming their own small groups. Earlier in Satya yuga the influence of material energy was not that strong and hence there was no segregation into different groups of non-vedic ideas. But as the influence of material energy grew stronger the fractions and innumerable groups began to emerge.. Hope this helps. Hare Krishna!
  3. Sometimes when I visit this site I do read your posts Theist and it surely does have a Krishna conscious element to it. So, please do not think that you are not involving in Krishna conscious discussions. You are indeed doing it!!! Hare Krishna!
  4. Marginal potency is not a place as the name suggests -- it is a potency of the potent Supreme Person. But because the potency is marginal it can either be based in the spiritual or material world. When it is purely serving Krishna, it is based in the Spiritual world and when gratifying it's own senses it is in the material world. Therefore it is called tatastha (something like the sea-shore area). In the sea-shore sometimes there is water and sometimes not, therefore the marginal potency of the Krishna is sometimes with Krishna and sometimes not! If any mistakes in my statements please forgive me. Hare Krishna!
  5. Very nicely condensed Theist Prabhuji!!! Jai! Hare Krishna!
  6. I tend to agree with the Guest as I have seen Srila Prabhupada's original translations of the verses in many of the translations done by Disciples of Srila Prabhupada in Srimad-Bhagavatam.
  7. Your points are well taken. But for a person who acts as if s/he is sleeping, none can wake them up. If someone is really sleeping you can wake them up. But, if someone acts then you cannot. Therefore, there is enough logic to prove the existence of soul. The body is the same while living and dead, then what is missing in the dead body that it starts to decompose and remains static? Similarly, the airplane cannot move by itself. There has to be some person behind it. Therefore, all the planets cannot move by themselves in the orbit -- there is a Supreme Person controlling their movement. All this is very very simple logic, but if a person has made up his mind not to accept God, then whatever you do to them they will not accept. That's the reason Krishna says: [ Na Maam Dushkrtino Mudha Prapadyante Naraadhamaha Mayayaapahrta Jnaana Aasurim Bhaavam Aashritah "Those miscreants who are grossly foolish, lowest among mankind, whose knowledge is stolen by illusion, and who partake of the atheistic nature of demons, do not surrender unto Me." - BG 7.15 - http://www.asitis.com/7/15.html ]
  8. Hello Guest! Krishna is present everywhere in each and every atom [Paramaanu Cha Ayaantarastham], in the form of His energy and at the same time He is present in His abode (Goloka Eva Nivasaty Akhilaatma Bhuto - BS 5.37 - http://vedabase.net/bs/5/37/en). As stated in Brahma-Samhita: [ Eko'pi Asau Rachayitum Jagad Anda Koti Yac Shakitr Asti Jagad Anda Chaya Yad Antah Andaantarastham Paramaanu Cha Ayaantarastham Govindam Aadi Purusham Tamaham Bhajaami "He is an undifferentiated entity as there is no distinction between potency and the possessor thereof. In His work of creation of millions of worlds, His potency remains inseparable. All the universes exist in Him and He is present in His fullness in every one of the atoms that are scattered throughout the universe, at one and the same time. Such is the primeval Lord whom I adore." - BS 5.35 - http://vedabase.net/bs/5/35/en ] Please try to understand. Hare Krishna!

    Kalki Avtaar

You have applied a very Krishna-conscious logicc for replying. Seems to be quite convincing :-) Hare Krishna!
  10. Which Ramayana is the basis for this? Valmiki's Ramayana or Tulasidasa's Rama Charit Manas?
  11. Ìn Chaitanya Charitamrta there is mention about so many branches (Shakha) and sub-branches (Upashakhas) of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's followers. And finally the message is to chant "Hare Krishna" Mahamantra. Then why do we want to engage in unneccessary comparisons???
  12. September 3, 1971, England [Conversation with Srila Prabhupada]: Indian Lady: How does one contact the spiritual master? Through a book can you contact the spiritual master? Srila Prabhupada: No, you have to associate. Shyamasundara: "Can you associate through a book?" she asked. Srila Prabhupada: Yes, through books, and also personal. Because when you make a spiritual master you have got personal touch. Not that in air you make a spiritual master. You make a spiritual master concrete.
  13. Well said Guruvaniji. It is very aptly mentioned in Srimad-Bhagavatam: [ Smaashrita Ye Pada Pallava Plavam Mahat Padam Punya Yasho Muraarer Bhavaambudhir Vatsa Padam Param-Padam Padam Padam Yat Vipadaam Na Teshaam "For those who have accepted the boat of the lotus feet of the Lord, who is the shelter of the cosmic manifestation and is famous as Murari, the enemy of the Mura demon, the ocean of the material world is like the water contained in a calf's hoof-print. Their goal is Param Padam, Vaikuntha, the place where there are no material miseries, not the place where there is danger at every step." - SB 10.14.58 - http://vedabase.net/sb/10/14/58/en] Hare Krishna!
  14. Unfortunately not everyone among them knows that Krishna is present in all the atoms in the form of His energy.. Andaantarastham Paramanu Cha Ayaantarastham Govindam Aadi Purusham Tamaham Bhajaami
  15. In Brahma-Samhita, Lord Brahma mentions this about Sun: [Yac Chakshur Esha Savita Sakala Grahaanaam Raajaa Samasta Sura Murtir Ashesha Tejah Yasajnyayaa Bhramati Smbhrta Kala Chakro Govindam Adi Purusham Tamaham Bhajami "The sun who is the king of all the planets, full of infinite effulgence, the image of the good soul, is as the eye of this world. I adore the primeval Lord Govinda in pursuance of whose order the sun performs his journey mounting the wheel of time." - BS 5.52 - http://vedabase.net/bs/5/52/en ]
  16. Lord Shiva has got the most percentage of transcendental qualities after Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu and therefore Lord Shiva is very much respectable to all the Vaishnavas. He is in-fact the "Best Vaishnava" - Vaishnavanam Yatha Shambhu!. Of course, the Shaivaites may say the other way round and therefore there is no need to argue unnecessarily. -- Respect other person's faith! This is my humble opinion. Hare Krishna!
  17. Krishna says in Bhagavad-Gita: Om Iti Ekaksharam Brahman, Vyaharan Mam Anusmaran Yah Prayati Tyajan Deham Sa Yati Paramam Gatim After being situated in this yoga practice and vibrating the sacred syllable om, the supreme combination of letters, if one thinks of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and quits his body, he will certainly reach the spiritual planets. - BG 8.13 - http://www.asitis.com/8/13.html
  18. Not at all. That is purely personal. Because you are respecting a person based on his personality/ies and the personality he is associating with. Of course, I do agree that one's perception of an individual should be surely based on his qualities and activities (Guna and Karma) rather than anything else...
  19. JSDas Ji says: Well, again there comes the impersonal philosophy if we do that. We have to recognise the fact that Srila Prabhupada himself in his physical presence chose to accept that particular individual to be his disciple - What a great fortune! Is there any other fortune in this world other than this? Of course, it was upto each and every individual how s/he used that great fortune for his/her betterment /images/graemlins/smile.gif Your point regarding respecting all the living entities is very good! Jaya Srila Prabhupada!
  20. JS DasJi In this material world we do consider the material body and seniority in terms of the material body. Otherwise everything will become impersonal. So taking that into consideration we should learn to respect their seniority of age, at the least, and give them the due respect they deserve. I am very sure that all the souls who have received association and initiation when Srila Prabhupada was physically present in the planet are very fortunate and Krishna has given them something which every devotee hankers for - Any disagreements? After saying that, I am in no way saying that we cannot associat with Srila Prabhupada now in the form of his vaani and books. Sure he is still as accessible as he was when he was physically present in the planet! Jaya Srila Prabhupada!
  21. Ms/Mr Guest, You are right as well! Kali Purusha has influence everywhere in the world now. After all it is called a 'Global Village' now and because of this the Kali Purusha has easy accessibility to all the places in the world - be it west or east, north or south! Jaya Srila Prabhupada!
  22. For queries from individuals like you Krishna has left His city of Dwaraka: --- See this news: NEW DELHI, JULY 13: Old shipwrecks -- like that of the Titanic -- which have been lying buried under the sea with their precious treasure along with the submerged city of Dwarka off the Gujarat coast, for centuries, could soon vie for the status of an underwater world cultural heritage site. ... ... The submerged city of Dwarka is believed to be an important site having both historical and cultural value for India. Legend has it that the remains -- the wall of a city is clearly visible while the rest is yet to be discovered -- are in fact, that of the ancient city of Dwarka mentioned in stories of Lord Krishna. The Gujarat government and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) are currently toying with the idea of creating a museum and an underwater viewing gallery once the structures have been protected. After that,Dwarka could also stake the claim for the coveted underwater world heritage status, UNESCO's South-East Asia office here said. Taken from http://www.indianexpress.com/ie/daily/20000714/ina14051.html --- See on more proof of Dwaraka: --- Discovery of Dwaraka The search for the lost city was going on since 1930's. Marine Archaeology Unit (MAU) of the National Institute of Oceanography, took part in this search in 1983. This search was carried out in the coastal waters of Dwaraka in Gujarat. Between 1983 to 1990 was discovered, the well-fortified township of Dwaraka, that extended more than half a mile from the shore. The township was built in six sectors along the banks of a river. The foundation of boulders on which the city's walls were erected proves that the land was reclaimed from the sea. Dwaraka extended upto Bet Dwaraka (Sankhodhara) in the north and Okhamadhi in the south. Eastward it extended upto Pindara. The general layout of the city of Dwaraka described in ancient texts agrees with that of the submerged city discovered by MAU. ( Taken from http://www.geocities.com/narenp/history/info/city.htm ) -- At least now believe this. May be you might find some excuse to say that this is not Dwaraka and not Krishna's city? Jaya Srila Prabhupada!
  23. Srila Prabhupada's lectures books etc. is the perfect example of developing positive Krishna consciousness and removing the negative maya consciousness simultaneously. Better to stress on the positive side rather than on the negative side - The best example Srila Prabhupada chanting 'Hare Krishna' Mahaamantra first and asking people to do the same. Later when the people were ready he asked them to give up the negative Maayaa consciousness. As Krishna says: Param Drshtva Nivartate!
  24. Generally people associate cult with something which is not really good for them.... Am I right in saying that? What is the reason for that? Any takers? Also Srila Prabhupada termed Krishna consciousness movement as Bhakti Cult. Just found a letter where he mentions 'cult' word many times.... --- Bombay 24th July, 1958 Seth Mangumal Amarasingh 345, Kalvadevi Road, 4th Floor Bombay. Dear Sir, I beg to inform you that Sri Sanjib Banerji manager of the United Bank of India, has advised me to see you between 1 to 2 p.m. and he has told me that he had telephonic conversation with you about me. I have come from Vrindaban on a missionary purpose and the necessary papers in this connection are enclosed herewith. Please find. Sri Banerji has spoken very high about your good-self that you are highly interested in the matter of propagating the cult of devotion and the message of Vrindaban. The present Vrindaban city is the excavation of the six Goswamins headed by Srila Rupa and Sanatan Goswamins who were deputed by Lord Caitanya to re-establish the Bhakti cult and in execution of the order of Lord Chaitanya the six Goswamins who lived there made a vast research in the Shastras and left behind them a vast literatures of pure Bhakti cult to be broadcast all over the world by later Acharyas. As such my Spiritual Master Shri Bhakti Siddhant Goswami Maharaj made a great effort to execute the order of Lord Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and we were fortunate enough to meet Him for service. Apart from his various uncommon activities in the line, He was kind enough to order me to propagate the same cult in English language to preach the cult in the foreign countries and in obedience to His order I am trying to do my bit. What I have done so far will be spoken by the enclosed papers. But I am practically struggling very hard for this job without any tangible success till Sri Sanjib Banerji has told me that you are the right person to co-operate with me in this noble task for propagating the Bhakti cult and combined in the message of Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita. The hearing tendency is made easy and still more favourable by songs and music of spiritual value to be equally shared by all classes of men namely the highest educated and the lowest illiterate. The movement is sublime and easy at the same time. The League of Devotees is registered to make this movement in an organised way and I wish to enquire if any co-operation and help can be expected from your honour. Awaiting an early reply and thanking you in anticipation. Yours faithfully, (Taken from: http://www.prabhupadaconnect.com/Letters21.html) Jaya Srila Prabhupada!
  25. Very good comparison Krsna Prabhu. The glitter of the West is so attractive that the conditioned soul is attracted to it just like a magnet. As Prahlaad Maharaaj says "Maayaa Sukhaaya Bharam Udvahato Vimuudhaan". The conditioned mind is so much attracted towards things not conducive for spiritual development and hence it is a really hard struggle in the material universe to get out of the conditioning which has no begining. Hence Krishna Himself says "Manah Shashtaani Indriyaani Prakrti Sthaani Karshati" Jaya Srila Prabhupada! Hare Krishna!
