  1. On TV were saying that already some pieces were up for auction on E-bay. Kind of macabre.
  2. No, I never tried the yoghurt and after the info I don't think I'm going to waste my energy on it. BTW Theist, what breatharian lifestyle means? Were you trying to live on air only? Just breathing....
  3. I just saw this article in Dipika. I knew Babaji Maharaja personally. We always met him in Champahatti and he came once a month to Iskcon Mayapur to the grihastha area to collect some donation for Sri Sri Gaur-Gadhadar and temple that Srila Bhaktissidanta Sarasvati gave him as his service. Last time I saw him was in Kartika 2000 in Govardhan, we have the mercy of his darshan during parikrama. Sorry I couldn't post his picture. Srila Nayananda das Babaji Maharaja Leaves Body By Tusti Mohan Krsna das Posted January 24, 2003 Click here for full size Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to His Divine Grace Srila Nayananda das Babaji Maharaja. All Glories to Prabhupada Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. It is sad news that I have to report to the Vaishnavas around the world, about the entering in samadhi of a great Vaishnava. His Divine Grace Srila Nayananda Das Babaji Maharaja left this world on January 21, 2003 in Sri Dham Mayapur at Sri Gopinath Gaudiya Math, and today [January 23] the ceremony for His Divine Grace’s entering samadhi was held at 11:00 am. His Divine Grace was 95 years old and is a direct disciple of His Divine Grace Prabhupada Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura Maharaja. He was personally doing a very important seva as appointed by His Guru Maharaja— to be the head pujari for almost 74 years of the original Deities of Sri Sri Gaura Gadadhara (500-year-old Deities) in Chapahati, (Gaura Mandal) in the house of Sri Dwijabaninath Prabhu, brother of Sri Gadadhara Pandit. His Divine Grace was a little sick in his last days, and I had the great fortune to have his association five days ago, while I was in Mayapur. I visited him in Sri Gopinath Gaudiya Math, founded by HDG Srila Bhakti Promod Puri Maharaja, who awarded the babaji order to His Divine Grace. Babaji is a very respected Vaishnava and very dear to all the devotees in the whole area of Gaura Mandal. We use to visit the temple of Sri Sri Gaura Gadadhara in Chapahati during the Ganga Safari and have the association of Babaji, who was always inspiring devotees to serve Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu more and more and telling stories about his Guru Maharaj and about his Godbrothers, especially His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Once he even told us that if he were to travel around the world some day, it would be to visit all the places where Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada has founded temples of Sri Sri Radha Krsna. Babaji was always respectful to everyone, and we feel a great separation from him, who is now serving the lotus feet of Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai in the spiritual world. We seek his blessings every day, and we hope that we can follow in his footsteps in serving the Supreme Lord with full surrender and devotion, as he always used to do. We are attaching a picture that we took a year ago of Babaji during the meeting of the Sri Gaudiya Vaishnava Association in Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir, beside the murti of his Guru Maharaj Srila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura. Your servant, Tusti Mohan Krsna das
  4. Today I had potato and bitter melon. I just ate it because its supposed to be a good blood purifier. I prefered fry. My friend made this pickle with cauliflowers, carrots, chillies, etc, a killer, people loved it so much. I can handle only a little with aloo paratha and yoghurt...oh,oh, the puss. Trying to be good, today I got soya milk, quite tasty. I had rasamalai too with rabri on top. What to do with all those milk products??? /images/graemlins/crazy.gif
  5. I agree with Babhru prabhu. The answers to the letters are always very clear, precise and full of knowledge. Very good service Jahnava Nitai. Many times I e-mail the answers to some of my friends because they are so good. Thank you very much.

Canadians!!! A correction printed in a Canadian newspaper: "The Ottawa Citizen and Southam News wish to apologize for our apology to Mark Steyn. In correcting the incorrect statements about Mr. Steyn, published Oct.15, we incorrectly published the incorrect correction. We accept and regret that our original regrets were unacceptable, and we apologize to Mr. Steyn for any distres caused by our previous apology."
  9. One evening two bachelors were talking over dinner. The conversation drifted from sports to politics, and then to cooking. " I got a cookbook once," said the first bachelor. "But I couldn't do anything with it." "Too much fancy stuff in it, huh?" asked his friend. "You said it,"the first guy replied, nodding. "Every one of those recipes began the same way: "Take a clean plate...."
  10. or Canadians complicating life?. True directions for using a nasal spray: "In U.S, place the nozzle into the nostril with your head upright and depress the pump toward the bottle. In Canada place the nozzle into the nostril with your head bent slightly forward and depress the pump. In the U.S., it is not necessary to inhale while spraying this medicine. In Canada, after taking a dose, sniff vigorously several times."

    Superbowl

we know its not good for our spiritual advance to watch TV, go to the movies, etc, but we still do it. I was just kidding Gauracandra and Theist for watching the Super Bowl, it doesn't make me any better to watch Disney (I swear I don't do it, I don't stoop so low /images/graemlins/smile.gif You're not offending Govindarupini, just reminding us our waste of time and lack of taste for the holy name. Our shortcomings.

    Superbowl

I came home to watch my weekly Disney movie at 7pm in ABC and they were still showing the useless baseball...oops, football. Kali Yuga at its best. There is no hope for mankind
  14. There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra than Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2020, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection what to do with them.
  15. It could be that dreams are what is going on in your mind at the present too... Last night I had this dream where I was packing some saris, sleeping bag and even a plastic bucket with a mug because I was going to Mayapur for the Navadwipa Mandal parikrama. When my daughters saw me, they asked me where I was going and I told them that I have to go and catch the 6 am bus to Mayapur because I was going in parikrama, in just 4 hours I would be in Mayapur! The girls said: "but mom, we are in California now, in the other side of the world, you have to cross oceans to reach Mayapur, you can't catch the bus anymore." I got so startled because I realized in my dream that it was true, I'm in California, but suddenly someone told me that I could go with my mind and be there. I woke up kind of sad and disoriented, I swear that I thought for a moment that I have a bucket and mug around me for taking bath and washing my cloth. When I looked at the clock it was 3.30am. Ok , at least I can go to Mangala Aratik. Where I work came this guy who asked me something about India and I didn't know and he told me that he lived in Bengal and I told him "me too" and he said:" I lived in Mayapur" and I almost fainted and we discovered that he was a gurukuli there in the 80's, now he is a man, with reason I didn't recognize him. And another guy came in with a BTG about Mayapur and I was showing my co-workers where I used to live.I guess all that brought back good memories. The night before Prabhupada's disapearance day, I helped a little decorating the vyasasana for him and that night I dreamt that I was walking in Watseka Ave. and as usual I looked at the sky and the stars and there were lots of them really bright. Suddenly, I noticed a group of stars with the form of a big flying bird and as I looked more and more I realized that the bird was coming towards me. It was Garuda with a lot of little lights around him and Radha-Krsna were sitting on him. I looked up and down the street to see if any more devotees saw this but the street was empty. Radha and Krsna were so beautiful and kept smiling at me. Suddenly a mataji came and she offered her pranamas and we were in completely awe. Two prabhus came and they started doubting and questioning, they were saying that Radha and Krsna don't ride Garuda, only Laxmi-Narayana or expansions of Krsna but no Krsna from Vrindavan and they made me so upset and they ruined all the mood. I told them why they limit God, He can do whatever He wants to, even if He wants to ride on Garuda with Radharani. Garuda flew away and I woke up. Around that time I was thinking why men have to rationalize so much and argue for nothing, just for the sake of discussion.Maybe something was going on in the Forums at that time.... A few nights later I had another dream where a group of ladies were having class and one 16 years old girl came and sat with us and she was eating some of the bhoga for the deities, she didn't know was bhoga. The women got so mad with the poor girl and told her all kind of nasty things and I thought in the dream how heavy are women with each other, lots of envy and jeaulosy. Finally the leader of the group stop the reprimends and told the women to be more compassionate with the girl. In another dream and this has to do what LE is been talking about death, I was in the street and I saw this good looking lady taking people away. She was "lady death", she was taking specially children and I got so scared for my children and I started calling out for them to run away from the lady. I was in a lot of anxiety. My girls run to a bridge where a nice woman was protecting them and at that moment I was in the middle of the situation, my kids in the bridge to my left and "lady death" taking people to my right when she turned to me and she said: "you don't know what is coming to you" and I realized that was me who was going to die, not my children. I woke up so upset and one of my daughters told me that I was moving a lot during my sleep, really agitated. That day I called two of my friends to make arrangements to take care of my kids if something happen to me if I die before they are 18. One of my friends has a card with her at all times where it says to call the Hare Krsnas if something happen to her because they will know what to do. She put it in her will too.

  17. FOURTEEN THINGS THAT IT TOOK OVER 50 YEARS TO LEARN By Dave Barry 1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and laxative on the same night. 2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings." 3. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." 4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them. 5. You should not confuse your career with your life. 6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance. 7. Never lick a steak knife. 8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip. 9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time. 10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment. 11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven. 12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers. 13. A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.) 14. Your friends love you anyway.
  18. to add that those are not my words, I just know enough where to look. Nalini's book is very good and D. Frawley's "Astrology of the Seers" helped me too. Nalini's book is "How to Read your Horoscope". Taught me a lot.
  19. but I can read a little the chart. From the information that you provided your ascendant is Scorpio and your Moon is in the 7th house in Taurus. You are in the Saturn period from July 91 until July 2010. Saturn is malefic for Scorpio rising. Your Saturn is located in the 11th house in Virgo and is lord of the 3rd and 4th house. From April 98 until November 2005 you are passing through a period call "Sade Sati", the 7 and half years of Saturn moving across the 12th, 1st and 2nd from your natal Moon. Right at this moment you have Saturn and Rahu in your first house from the Moon. Saturn will go back to the 2nd in April, now is retrograde in the 1st. During June 2000 and July 2002 when Saturn was transiting your 1st house it may had give you, personal crisis, weakness of health, visits to foreign lands, sinful temptations, responsibilities. In the second house gives financial expenses, sickness to family members, tendency to speak critically, dietary restrictions. It would be nice if you feed or donate to the poor, the elderly and the lame and offer grains to the birds specially on Saturdays. Practicing neutrality to external events and periods of observing silence will help too. Color to wear in Saturday is black or dark blue. Good aromas for Saturn are sandalwood, frankincense, cedar and juniper. The Ayur Vedic formula Triphala is specific for Saturn, as it cleanses all waste materials and also tonifies the deeper issues. Saturn requires self discipline, renunciation, surrender, detachment, objectivity, and doing of good karma (bhakti yoga) Prayers, atonement, pilgrimages and giving of charity cleanse the influence of Saturn. There should be an strict routine in life and the following of an authority or tradition. Saturn is good in the 11th house. The person with this placement may own property or buildings (saturn is also lord of the 4th in your case). You may gain through publishing, imports, agriculture and natural products of the earth. You may have far reaching goals and ambitions. I concentrated now in Saturn because you are in the major period and you're going though sade-sati. It is a lot more to it. You have an exchange between the 1st and 12th house and Venus and Mars. The 12th house signifies material losses, renunciation for spiritual gain, the next life, participation in charity, expenses of money, alienation and the search for liberation, pleasures of the bed. sleep, dreams. Just try to be positive, more later.
  20. I'm so glad that I'm off sodas for the last 6 weeks, a small accident during the holidays but no more sodas for me. It's pretty scary to know what those drinks do to your body.
  21. You have an interesting horoscope. Do you want a public reading or a private one? I have no idea what LE and you'd been talking. My proof that I'm not 50. I hope many laughs come your way this year! One of my friends told me that one of our neighbors was in Gilligan Island, don't know the character name, may help to tell you he is black. Or maybe I'm completely confused and he is from a different show.
  22. My dear Jaya Radhe: I'm so sorry that I couldn't talk to you and I feel sad but I know you are in a better place now and I'm sure you're having the association of our beloved Srila Prabhupada. Thank you for your association, it was really sweet and uplifting. I'm praying for you and your family, specially Charanamrita. Your servant and friend, Gauri dasi
  23. "Of course the Mulisms could do it because they would forcibly put meat in someone's mouth and the so-called Hindus would then consider that person just another untouchable and have nothing to do with them." I saw Marwaris eating meat in Calcutta and everybody interact with them. Meat eating in India, even beef, is becoming very popular with all the classes. The Bengali ricksha-wallas in Vrindavan told me how they have their secret places in the Holy Dham to eat meat, and they were "hindus". My punjabi bosses here are also owners of Subways, beef all over the place, and they are womanizers, drinkers and very low class people but they are considered succesful because they made it in America.Everybody interact with them even the hindu vegetarians. I noticed in India that many of the pure vegetarian will interact with meat-eaters because of social or business reasons but they won't eat in the other person's house. When they go to parties though they'll eat the vegetarian food not actually thinking that meat is also been served in the same place. It's becoming more loose and relax and the new generation doesn't care that much.
  24. architect for the sri Mayapur project is ... Sevanam Dasa, a Ph.D candidate at the Prince of Wales's foundation of Architecture in England. Around 1999, ... Sevanam, presented plans for the Mayapur Project to Prince Charles, who founded and oversees the Foundation and is well known as an aficionate of sacred architecture. The London engineering firm of Alan baxter and associates are involved too. That firm had ingeneered contemporary constructions, restored ancient stupas, and preserved and renovated such England landmarks as St Paul's, the Tower of London, and the Houses of Parliament. The temple will be built solely of bricks and concrete. To protect the temple from the possibility that the meandering Ganga herself could someday erode the foundation, the engineers have utilized the ingenious "rip-rap" system. Should water ever begin to undermine the ground near the temple, huge blocks of granite, pre-set around the foundation, will stop the erosion. Securing the building's foundation, these granite blocks, in effect, create a barrier wall and would make the temple an island. Many long standing bridges employ this system. The engineers say "there is always a long gestation period for religious buildings of this magnitude. The Washington Cathedral, for example, in the capital of the most prosperous nation on earth, took nearly a century to build and was finished only a few years ago. As the project engineers, we are naturally very eager to see the temple go up in our lifetimes." Atma: I don't know what is going on now in Mayapur about the temple, but there were lots of dedicated devotees working in many aspects of the project. ... Sevanam is one of the sweetest devotees that I ever met, extremely intelligent and really nice. They spent here in LA $200 million for the new Catholic Cathedral that is ok, nothing spectacular. I don't know how much the Mayapur temple will cost, but for Lord Krsna, $200 million is like a drop in the ocean. It would be really nice if we can see this temple in our lifetime. I remember that I saw the plans for the pujaris quarters near the temple with all the different areas for the men and ladies pujaris. They already were thinking how many pujaris and cooks would be needed and women were included in the plan. It was really sweet.
