  1. Abhishekham in temples are meant to thank god, every article used during the abhishekam has it's own significance. Since god provided us with many things in this world, this considered as a way to express gratititude. The rituals are found in sastras. I am of no profound knowledge of sastras, but this is what I learnt/heard so far. Apologies in advance if anything that I said felt wrong. Corrections from fellow members, greatly appreciated. Thank you
  2. Dear PS_0310, Namaskar. Claustrophobia is quite common. I really would advise you or anyone else suffering from this condition to seek professional help. Please don't be afraid of getting treatments from pyschiatrists or getting behavioural therapy from psychologists. There are few medications that lessen the symptoms. I strongly believe that this is a behavioural problem. The key to really overcome the condition lies on the affected person. Yes, there might be mantras to combat fears, I do not know. Well all I can say is, do seek treatments from doctors, attend therapy sessions, and you are free to practice mantras or anything prescribed by the blessed people here or near you. So the chances of getting cured will be higher. May god bless you, namaste.
  3. Namaskar, How do we serve god? Well...in my thinking, we serve god well if we respect and take good care of ourselves, other people and other entities that we share the world with. Then again, it's my humble thinking and might not go well with many people. I apologize in advance to people belonging to that category. Namaste.
  4. Dhruvji, Eventhough I am just a beginner and might not be advanced as many people in this forum, I do agree with your thoughts above. I think, the sadhana you mentioned are very similar to that daily pooja that one does at home (the one with 5, 16 or 32 upacharas). Yes it has changes here and there. The pattern is similar. So thank you for the outline. I will certainly consult a pandit near me about the proper way to do the sadhana. By the way, I just thought about something. I may be terribly wrong, so no offences to anyone. I think any sadhana involving step-by-step rituals, if done as mere discplined repetition, without inner involment and bakthi towards his/her chosen god, their efforts might be useless. So I hope, people understand the significances of each steps in the sadhana before even attemptig them. Thank you.
  5. Dear Hindustani ji, Thank you for your info. Well I have put your insights under consideration. I will try to consult a pandit ji near me about this matter.By the way,do you know why the above mentioned sadhana should only be done on Shivaratri and not on daily basis? I appreciate any feedback from anyone in this forum thank you.
  6. Dear Dhruvji, Thank you for the information about Shiva sadhana, it will immensely benefit myself and all Shiva bhaktas around the world. May god bless you always.
  7. Dear Respected Members of the forum, Well in my humble opinion, bhakti and sadhana might be different in terms of definition, but it correlates to the same consequence that is to be near to god. Both are good. Namaste.
  8. Pandora ji, Well I am not sure how to ascertain real copper. I bought my copper bracelet in a shop after really asking the owner whether it is copper or not. Copper bracelets for health purposes are usually there, you must ask. Normally you can find it in Indian jewellery/accessories shops or shops that sell utensils for praying. Scientifically there are some tests, but long to eloborate, so I would give some alternative method to ascertain copper. Due proplonged exposure to air and water copper undergoes oxidization. How to note this, a new copper bracelet often looks polished and shiny similar to the appearance of brassware. A day or two later, it turns a little greener/blackish with a distinct smell, very similar of blood's because the pigments in blood has copper. Well I can only think of this way, so if anyone else who are of profound knowledge on this matter, please do tell, we would certainly be benefitted by your opinion. Thank you
  9. Thank you, Amateur ji, your feedback is much appreciated.
  10. Thank you for the effort putting in the information I want.
  11. Hello and namaskar fellow respected members, I was advised by my relative to try to wear copper bracelet. What are the benefits medically or through Ayurvedic perspectives? Thank you.
  12. Thank you Rahulhb.....well I will try to do more malas of japa. Why do u specifically mention, malas or chants to be done preferably of Narayana, Rama and Vishnu category?
  13. Thanks for the reply. Well I'm just puzzled why do people remove the pictures from the altar. Thanks for sharing your info too.
  14. The matter that I'm praying for is somewhat confidential to say. I will take note of all the suggestions from the replies I read in this thread, Thank you once again.
  15. Well, it's like this. I have been asking for guidance. I asked to give me a hint whether I should discontinue certain things or go on practicing that "certain thing". Well I totally believe Lord guides us in a way. Some direcly or indirectly. I am just merely asking for a hint or two. My prayers haven't been answered yet. I will just have to continue praying then. I know the world would be different if all prayers are granted. Thank you.
  16. Hello, I heard and seen people who once prayed Durga mata remove it from their altar as per advice given by others that it is not good to keep on the altar. Is it true? If so why? Thanks.
  17. I do think it will survive as people are getting close to their roots now. More and more people are educated and do have access to religious discourses now and then. So the exposure directly and indirecly helps to cultivate faith and bring about the continuity of the Sanatana Dharma.
  18. How is it then? What are the do and don't?
  19. Thanks for the post. Really informative.
