  1. HARIBOL! JIVA JAGO! HARIBOL! HEART AND SOUL! HARIBOL! [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-15-2001).]
  2. JRdd: I was never breastfed as my mother was unable to, due to some illness. In my case at least, it might explain a lot of problems which are still with me to some extent. A good foundation makes for a solid structure...
  3. I see nothing wrong with this particular post, in content or otherwise. Are we not in agreement here that praising God by chanting His Holy Names, preferably in unison as a group, while attempting to develop a humble and tolerant attitude as the lowly servant of all (God), is both the means and the end of our religious activities? Also, for the record, I accept Lord Jesus Christ as my personal saviour. Without him I do not believe I would have come into the personal presence of His Divine Grace Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and all that followed in his wake. In fact, I still pray to Jesus and his help is always there almost immediately. Now, however, my personal focus is on Srimati Radharani as the ultimate source and personification of Divine Love and Grace. Service in devotion and to devotion remains my aspiration. After all, bhakti is bhakti, isn't it? valaya RR
  4. Anything we focus our attention on we are devoted to, if only momentarily. Purity of devotion has to do with motivation while degree of devotion involves fullness of concentration in any given activity, religious or not. Whatever our external `service` may be, it will become perfected only if we pay some attention to the quality of our inner devotion. Without His Divine Grace in some way, shape or form nothing would be possible. We are never the doer, are we? Unless that simple fact is recognized, there can be no transcendence or realized tangible faith in God (Supreme Controller), let alone His Love, simply because pride gets in the way. Whether one recognizes this Divine Love as Sri Radha is only significant if there is a desire to enter into Goloka Vrindavan. Still our personal relationship remains with His all-pervasive Love, although we may see Her in our parents, romantic interest, or even the family dog... JAI RADHE! valaya RR
  5. Yes indeed, and that difference is Radha!
  6. The common element appears to be devotion, does it not? Gaudiya vaisnavas worship devotion as superior to the object of devotion. Sri Radha, as the living essence, is seen as both the means and the end. The process is devotional service, but the perfection is oneness with devotion, when any and all activities become service. At that point one's very presence delivers His Divine Grace. Not all pure devotees are acharyas or even gurus as such. Nor are they necessarily preachers... The true vital purpose of religion and religious activities is not the perpetuation of themselves. Institutions may remain, but individuals must somehow transcend... In other words, should our devotion not be to devotion Herself, regardless of whatever outer religious or other forms may be involved? JAI SRI RADHE! valaya RR [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-13-2001).]
  7. C'mon, leyh...in all fairness, he meant `his` thread, because he started it. That said, all here must accept that threads meander as they may and their wanderings can't be expected to comply with our wishes any more than life itself. Unfortunately many so-called religious people attempt to contriol others while still unable to fully control themselves, usually in pseudo-service to their supposed guru/master or personal vision of `God`. It's often a form of megalomania... valaya RR
  8. Kinda like in war, eh Tarun prabhu? Warriors not pacifists! BB not...well,I'm sure you get the idea. This is the material world and it ain't pretty, nor will it ever become heaven on earth. valaya RR [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-11-2001).]
  9. Haribol Mahak prabhu! I received an Email attachment from: minimag@gopaljiu.org, that is very relevant to these points you are making and others on this forum, but I don't know how to `copy-paste` it , technically speaking, as it's on Acrobat Reader. The title is KK Bindhu #16 and I highly recommend reading it. Perhaps someone can transfer it here. If you put your name on their subscription list they'll send a free `mini-mag` every two weeks. I really would like to see this latest one on `Spiritual Discussions` somehow so we could all address some of the more important points quoted from Srila Prabhupada and others. valaya RR [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-10-2001).]
  10. Thanks for the reality check, jndas prabhu. [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-10-2001).]
  11. Me so gross, but such is the ghastly rasa. Sorry prabhuji!
  12. There are many other natural herbs, remedies and treatments available. Devotees need not rationalize the use of those which are expressly forbidden to them. My previous suggestion of marihuana butter was in hopes of weaning those already addicted to smoking it, or using even worse drugs, onto a more preferable form of ingestion. Eventually, the goal would be to become as drug-free as possible under the individual circumstances. Perhaps if Living Entity could explain her situation better, other solutions might be offered here. valaya RR [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-10-2001).]
  13. Never trust authorities that teach you to trust them exclusively while completely distrusting yourself!
  14. Satyaraja das: I believe our faith, whatever `religion` we may be involved in, can be inspired by how we see others in our day to day lives. Devotion is there in every dog, what to speak of watching a mother with her young children. When I speak of that devotion personified as Sri Radha, it is for the intended benefit of others who also worship Lord Caitanya as Radha-Krsna. I cannot personally claim that my realization of Her is anything other than my own, nor would I expect anyone from a different background to understand or accept. My main concern on these forums is to be of helpful service to the followers of Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada specifically and Gaudiya vaisnavas in general. I see them all united in Sri Radhika. That is my vision, although some may consider it just another agenda. Jndas prabhu has said that his wish is to have all manner of `Spiritual Discussion` on this forum, so others may be posting for any number of reasons. While I try to respect their interactions, my own purpose in being here is definitely not to change anyone's religious faith or even discuss the philosophical nature of Absolute Truth, although I think chanting the Holy Names is always beneficial to everyone in this present Age of Quarrel and Hypocrisy. It would be helpful for all of us if we could recognize His causeless mercy at work in each other and keep faith that somehow or other perfection will eventually be realized by His Divine Grace alone; not because of us, but in spite of us! What a mess the cookies would make in the oven if they fought amongst themselves while being baked! Time, temperature, etc. are not under our control, what's important is how we tolerate the heat together. valaya RR
  15. Kinda reminds me of the now thankfully defunct `Debate This!` thread. Can't help wondering if mateo intends to love his enemies, slay the infidels, or just banish the offenders...
  16. HARI HARA HOORAY! [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-08-2001).]
  17. Thanks for the reminder, prabhu, and it ain't just a word to me... valaya RR
  18. I agree with all of the above, Satyaraja prabhu, however I'm thinking that individual free will must remain and that entails abandoning old attachments, in order to fully embrace the transformation enabled by the mercy of Hari. Thus for any change to fully become a new reality (realized), time is required for most of us. While this is happening, faith in some form of His Divine Grace and a philosophical/religious concept of the higher reality can be extremely helpful, if not essential. Shouldn't we therefore be encouraging each other with our words and inspiring by our actions, rather than challenging individual conceptions by examining minute details? Surely these have little relevance to the overall process, since our ultimate success has already been assured by Sri Hari. Are we to become faith-builders or faith-destroyers? In my view, the difficulty lies in doing this without demeaning others or denying their `religious` faith and attempting to interfere with individual free will. Whatever our belief system may be, all of us can become beacons of light through our relationships with each other. Although there are relatively few regular posters on these forums, they are viewed by many... valaya RR
  19. manifesting in actions rather than mere words Inaction speaks louder than words! valaya RR [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-08-2001).]

  23. Another pointless slap from someone who, I believe, has yet to make even one positive contribution to this forum. Please correct me if I'm mistaken, jndas prabhu. I suspect the re-emergence of a certain High Venomess...or maybe just one of her poisonous `disciples`. [This message has been edited by valaya (edited 11-04-2001).]
