  1. Theist, please don't take offense. I am not juggling words. Please acknowledge the ambiguity and redundancy of this idea: a parent waking their child from a nightmare to tell them it is a nightmare. As a parent, I know there is no need to do this. They will simply wake up, and upon waking, they will learn that it was a dream. For some, this idea is enough to take up activities conducive to the pleasure of Sri Krsna, for others, it becomes a logical redundancy. There are many on this forum, as well as outside this forum, who will see these logical redundancies and ambiguities and may form a negative opinion of the whole process. There are many initiates of Srila Prabhupada who heard and continue to hear and understand what he says differently than you and Sarvah. Sarvah posts, over and over again, transcriptions of Srila Prabhupada's personal discussions. They aren't inclusive of the whole discussion and when the discussion is taken into consideration along with the contexts there are clearly different ways to interpret them. For a disciple to consider their spiritual master as part of the parampara they must harmonize their spiritual master's teachings with their parampara, not polarize the teachings. Srila Prabhupada wanted for his disciples to understand the philosophies and encouraged them to seek guidance from qualified philosophical representatives. He also respected his Guru to the umpteenth degree, so much so, that he was reduced to tears nearly every time he discussed the mercy which had been given to him by his spiritual master. In this subject, I fear we will remain at odds and although I have no hope of changing your position, I would also like to serve others by being a proponent of the position that I have been posting.
  2. Yes it is a bit silly, but I suspect we are pointing out silliness from different perspectives. Nevertheless, why describe the dreaming state to one who is dreaming? The act of dreaming indicates the act of waking, just as the notion of birth indicates death. If we are nitya-siddha in nitya-lila what more do we need? What is the need of waking a dreaming person to tell them their dream is not real? Once the person awakes, they will already understand. Afterall, its just a dream. That is the point. The point is, why try to realize our perfection, since we are already inherently perfect nitya-siddhas in nitya-lila. So, exactly, why chant?
  3. There are relative gradations of enlightenment. One of the first stages of enlightenment is the realization of our misidentifying with matter. Another being that the universe is much greater than one's self in that one's self needs to act harmoniously with creation. This is a universally shared concept among all spiritualist. As I've said before, there are things conducive to that understanding. Fasting, Dancing, Prayer, and Kirtan are conducive to Vaishnavas and Ganja, Som, Datura, Peyote, Mutilations, Fasting, are conducive to other branches of spirituality. I'd "bet" that at least 90% of Western Vaishnavas have expiremented at some point with intoxication and have admitted some realizations from it. Can we say that these realizations are bad? Is there such a thing as a plant that Krsna made, which can bestow enlightenment? Can that be His prerogative? It is action in enlightenment which we are striving for. Simply being enlightened is insufficient. The question is, "Can intoxication bring you to perfection"?
  4. I guess we call all claim to be spiritual master now that we understand we are all actually nitya-siddha in nitya-lila. We have all come from the spiritual world according to this philosophy. Therefore we are all as good as our spiritual masters. This is the quagmire of saying that we are all dreaming that we are in Maya while really being in nitya-lila: The spiritual master descends from the spiritual world (just as we also descend from the spiritual world since we are all really nitya siddhas) and displays his prakata lila as acharya (just as we display our prakata lila of illusion). The spiritual master teaches Krsna Consciousness as a means to releave our suffering; teaches us that we are just dreaming and that actually we are nitya siddha/nitya lila. Why endeavor unless our endeavor is just our "prakata lila" while our aprakata lila is in Krsna Lila? And if our endeavor is just "prakata lila" one may insist on just biding their time till they wake up. The acharya descends as a call to action, and this (you are a nitya-siddha in nitya-lila but you're just dreaming that you are under the influence of Maha-Maya) philosophy is placing great ambiguity on the call to action. Perhaps this Maha Maya is actually Yoga Maya and we are all just displaying our prakata lilas of being married/unmarried/troubled/enlightened/doctors/labourers etc...
  5. Namaste Dave,You've done well in your research. You should be confident you have the right method of writing in Devanagari. If you're interested in Tibetan font and translations I would suggest you obtain help from this site http://http://jigtenmig.blogspot.com/search?q=bodhi Good Luck!
  6. I was wrong in my delivery. Yes, there is the conscious personality behind every object.
  7. Are you saying the blade of grass in Goloka has two arms, or that it is not living up to its full potential and original feature? What good does this philosophy, which you are offering, bring? It is obviously a tenet which you feel strongly about (given your noticeable font enlargement ).
  8. Yes, Beggar. Ultimately, siddhanta will have to take rasa and rasa abhasa into consideration. The question which surfaces when applying the reasoning that we are all eternally nityasiddha is, "why should we endeavor to 'wake-up'". Not endeavoring to "wake-up" goes against the current of the practice of bhakti-yoga. In as much as the "crow and taal fruit" logic is in place, this is obviously a stance far from the ambiguity of the "crow and taal fruit" logic. I have in mind to make a dissertation on "The Jiva is Eternally, Nitya-Siddha and Why We Should Not Present This Theory". In as much as Prabhupada said this, he also said, in numerous places, that he has taken artistic liberty in his application of preaching. This "I am pure/you are pure constantly" tenet is akin to "I am God/You are God". It nearly dissolves the notion of gratitude and surrender which are basic aspects to Vaishnava philosophy. Let us not turn our backs on that which Srila Prabhupada held as sacred ie. his Guru, his Guru's Gurus, the Goswamis, and Mahaprabhu. When there is a discrepency between what Srila Prabhupada had to say and what our scriptures and other Bhagavatas had to say let us try to see the underlying tow.
  9. Sarvah gattah: I think it is fair to include the full context of some of these conversations. You will see here, when Prabhupada is talking about the soul as having a "human" form it is purely an ambiguous statement. The devotees were asking (loaded?) questions and it turned out to be an almost "who is on first" type conversation. Everyone please check this more complete section of the conversation and make your decisions based on this. No offense intended Sarvah gattah. Sarvah's interpretations are intertwined with Srila Prabhupada's quotes in such a way that it is difficult for the reader to determine if it is Sarvah's interpretations or Prabhupada's comments. Afterall, not everyone has access to all the archives. I would be concerned to think that this was intentional and I'd love to give the benefit of the doubt that it is purely coincidental. Please pay close attention to the [endQuote] he has at the end of the discussion. Either case, you'll see the ambiguity of the necessity of saying one has a "human" like form in the spiritual world. It is not falsifiable therefore not an issue. The form of a nitya siddha Goloka Dham Vasi is a form of prema rasa. What does that form look like? What does a flower from Goloka look like? We can only hope to see śriyaḥ kāntāḥ kāntaḥ parama-puruṣaḥ kalpa-taravo drumā bhūmiś cintāmaṇi-gaṇa-mayi toyam amṛtam kathā gānaḿ nāṭyaḿ gamanam api vaḿśī priya-sakhi cid-ānandaḿ jyotiḥ param api tad āsvādyam api ca sa yatra kṣīrābdhiḥ sravati surabhībhyaś ca su-mahān nimeṣārdhākhyo vā vrajati na hi yatrāpi samayaḥ bhaje śvetadvīpaḿ tam aham iha golokam iti yaḿ vidantas te santaḥ kṣiti-virala-cārāḥ katipaye
  10. नमस्ते namaste: Devanagari (the alphabet used for Hindi and Sanskrit) along with the other alphabets of the Indian sub-continent, are phonetic alphabets. If vincent were to be pronounced vin-sent then it would be written as follows: विन्सेन्त
  11. I'm aware that there is a carefully portioned mix of datura and ganja, in a milk based lassi which is used as a spiritual elixir in India. It is not bhang. I'm not sure if this is Soma. Heaven and Hell, Upper and Lower are both foreign ie. not local. If one could release themselves from their locality and travel, going down would also allow one to go elsewhere for in that relativity of going to the lower depths from locality one may understand and experience higher reaches through opposites. The greater the difficulty, the greater the relief. As the Isa Upanishad states: vidyam cavidyam ca yas tad vedobhayam saha avidyaya mrtyum tirtva vidyayamrtam asnute There is, almost invariably, a system for intoxication in every tribal spiritual search. Intoxication is done through plant bases and hallucinogenics or mutilation or fasting etc. Strong hallucinogenic intoxicants can, and commonly do, cause a rift in the mind which displaces the user as a foreigner in the locality, not as a local in locality. Basically all great depths of spiritual search and achievments come from great stresses and difficulties. The Vaishnava practice encourages one to realize their existing stress and difficulties by in-depth analyses of ones existence. Normally, Vaishnavas abstain from foreign intoxicants and practice kirtan, japa, fasting, simple diets, early rising and pranayama. This allows for a harmonious existence within the realities of locality and spiritually higher and lower realms. It is the awareness of our dire existential situation which brings about a heightened spiritual awareness.
  12. And if you see your surroundings through a lens which is focused on God you may see your environment in a different light. Compassion, tolerance, truthfulness, and cleanliness are important aspects to our life which help produce a steady focus. We must incorporate them in order to fulfill ourselves.
  13. There were/are many Jews who were/are opposed to the idea of Israel. The paradox of being a Jew while being a Christian or Muslim is indeed a tricky subject. Jews of both faith and bloodline, regardless of whether or not they shared both, have been persecuted based solely on their relationship with Jews. However, one would venture to have more faith in the presentation of a Jewish perspective if that person were to be both Jewish by blood and faith as there is no risk in an apologetic view. A Christian converted from Judaism may share the bloodline, but invariable either carries an apologetic attitude regarding their history or does not fully associate themselves with the Jewish people and will not be able to fully portray the general Jewish psychology. This is really basic logic. I'm sure we are all glad to fulfill that aspect of your good self.:smash: ....says you. With all due respect, your vouching for him carries about as much weight as me vouching for Jabotinskyites;). On another note... Do you think this might be Mahaprabhu's Mission?
  14. Yes, and the best way to keep your new engine in good condition is by regular maintenance, which would mean to... and
  15. He was speaking of trying to tell a man who witnessed his family's slaughter, not one who performed the slaughter, that their perspective is distorted. How does what you say pertain? I'm sure you have something in mind. Can you make it more transparent?
  16. नमस्ते ! Are you a non-native Hindu? I ask this in all sincerity. सत्यं शिवं सुन्दरम् केश्वरी देवेन्द्र राज वानी वेद जै Why I ask is because these are not complex words and are readily found all over the world-wide-web.
  17. Srila Prabhupada speaks the basics: <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi_ABvR1NzE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">
  18. A couple of good points in a message salted with anti-Jew propaganda. The points worth taking into consideration: What we have here is a lack of qualified leaders. Anyone want the job? The problem with the last two comments is the self-defeating stance. The ideology of "True Jews" and the ideology of "Certain Jews" just don't belong together. If you've got a problem with Jews come out and say it. Stop trying to whitewash it with statements like these intertwined with one another. Consistency is key to any half-authoritative posit. Basically, as Bob Marley, Martin Luther King Jr., Haile Salassie and other modern day saints as well as saints of yore have affirmed:
