  1. We Indians eat on the ground because we are able to sit on the floor. Our Indian Toilets also are very healthy in that sense. Atleast for 20mts sitting and eating on the ground do not produce a potbelly. Do not overeat as your bottom half of the belly is closed. We do not even suffer from knee joint pain when we sit on the ground. You see that the knee joint pain is common now a days as people has chosen the habit of eating on table and chairs and using western toilets.

    Ancient, but yet effective exercise.

10 can you name one thing about region?

    Truthfulness.

  3. A scripture is not a History Book. A scripture helps man to look within himself and not around him. Its of no use to know about the past. What you can only see is the future. We are born in this world to adjust with the future but we waste out time brooding or glorifying the past. Rama, Krishna, Christ and Prophet are all past. We remember them because they lived the scriptures. We dont try to live the scriptures. That is why those who followed hog the limelight.

  4. My dear friends, when politics divide people within a religion it can go to any extent. Latest being this.

    http://www.ambedkar.org/Tirupati/Tirupati.pdf

In the name of Ambedkar, millons of dalits are being brainwashed by the buddhists. I dont deny the greatness of buddhism but the way that politics has entered into caste and religion, the dirty mind plays to show buddhism above by showing the father of buddhism in poor light.

By the way, who was buddha? A buddhist by birth? No. A Kshatriya who was renunced. By whom? By himself. Foolish people believe in this theory. Ambedkar was the first dalit who held a high post. It was unfortunate that he converted to buddhism.

A dalit means, a shudra who was depicted in poor light and treated badly by the upper-class people. This was only restricted to hinduism. But today, there is a Dalit Muslim, Dalit Christian, Dalit Buddhist w.r.t Dalit Hindu. Now, who is real, who is the neo and who is fake. Just to enjoy the benifits that the government has extended, the 'dalit' tag is carried accross religious barriers. 'Dalit' is such a dirty term but people find it as a savior in all circumstances to politicize that tag to enjoy benifits.

  5.

thank you. i really hope that i can find someone else to love again as i loved her...

There is nothing to find outside. The true love lies within thyself. Turn inwards and drink the nectar. God is in the subtle and not in the gross and love within you is nothing but the expression of the divine.

  6.

Christians claim that here will be an end of days and a last war and so on.. Do Hindus have a prophecy for the end of the world as well?

End of an era. A transition period from one Yuga to another. That is what Hindus have about this theory. There is nothing called 'The End'. But always a new beginning.

  7.

    sita ram ,

i have been doing some reading and have come across a "ring of ranga" i have no idea what this is in english and where i can acutally get one. a friend of mine suggested it to be a ring made of a worn horseshoe. can anyone put some light on this and if it is benificial spiritually to have one ?

Spirituality is the path that one treads from material to immaterial. If you think that a material can benifit you spiritually, you are wrong or your advisor is wrong. Deal with the immaterial mind which yearns for all materials. That is spirituality. Correct me if i am wrong.

  8. Dear All, I read all your postings. Its a good discussion. It would have been much better if the thread starter 'sailu' was more active and not passive with only just 2 postings while the others are very much on discussion especially 'sant' and 'melvin1' and my dear old friend 'bhaktjan'. Good work guys. Keep the good work going. Hope 'sailu' gets more active with her/his participation.

  9. You cannot combine politics with spirituality. To feed the poor and provide better infrastructure is the governments job. If Nehru said this, he looks bankrupt of ideas for the future of his nation by targetting religious places.

The party which Nehru headed speaks of Nehrus dreams about India. Thats all what he could do. Dream. Infact Nehru is the only politician to have been in the seat of the PM with suo-moto powers till 1956. What did he do then? Dream.

Frankly speaking, if you believe in Nehrus ideas, you too will look bankrupt of ideas by combining politics in religion and religion in politics.

  10.

    What is moksha?

There is a 300plus posting thread called 'Is Mukti a Myth' which has great discussions both spiritual and scientific. It has postings from masters like Dark Warrior, Bija, Ramana Dasi, Radhika. I am sure you will get an answer there.

  11.

What we are trying to understand here is Brahman in relation to God/Krishna and/or vice versa.

Brahman is Bliss Eternal. Krishna/Gods/Demigods are forms for us mortals who dont understand or try to approve the formless. The mind asks for a form and there it is. Krishna,Vishnu,Shiva, Lakshmi,Parvati so on and so forth. Do you think parvathi is any less than shiva or a lakshmi any less than a vishnu. If we think yes, then we are wasting time.

This is what i hope you are trying to understand (Brahman in relation to God).

  12.

Suffering is temporary, and is created by the Jivas, not by Krishna. People with a materialistic mindset will be very distressed by it, but if we understand that the soul is eternal, and that every soul has passed through so much suffering already, we can understand the temporary nature of it. That's not to say that we shouldn't alleviate the suffering of others, simply that we shouldn't be too upset about it.

Dear One, its hard to believe that suffering is caused by jivas temporarily with a materialistic mindset. Why did Rama suffer without Sita? Why did Krishna suffer with Jambavan? It neither has any relation to do with the past Karmas. If that is the case, Rama and Krishna will have to be accepted as ordinary people like you and me who carried their Karmas from their previous birth and hence suffered.

The material world is a place of suffering, since it is the abode of those who wish to be separate from god, and lord it over the material energy, including other living beings. So the suffering created by war, slaughterhouses, oppression etc is man-made and temporary. Chances are that everyone reading this has already undergone such horrible atrocities, but with a new birth they have forgotten them, so how can we identify so much with the trials and tribulation of the body?

This looks like a biblical quote. Anything and everything material or non-material is just beautiful. All instruments are provided for man to enjoy by nature. When craving for more is adopted by man, it is termed as suffering. It happens again by nature. Bondages of father/mother/sister/brother/wife/children/land/money/belongings etc and the determination by man to protect it by naming it as Dharma has caused suffering. Leave all and there will be no suffering.

  13. Dear Friends, I feel that the topic has indeed deviated and the original thought seems to be lost ie., whether time applies to the spiritual world.

Well, it is sad that all of us are subject to time and not able to explain it. As normaly featuring in this forum, many have taken to quotes from earlier masters. Let me try.

As we are aware there is Chaitanya and Jada which are the forms of Consciousness. Chaitanya pertains to Action and Jada symbolizes Inertia. Action and Inertia by itself is not subject to Kala ie., time. So, it means whatever and wherever we see action, it is Chaitanya. The smallest form being the atom where the electon is moving around the nucleus. All the action in our body is due to chaitanya and the body by itself is jada.

Time applies wherever there is a fusion of these two. Our body grows from infancy till death due to time. The continues fusion of action with Inertia within the body causes it to change from within. Once the body dies, the Chaitanya that exist outside the body causes it to change and decay.

Coming to the point which Theist has raised, the answer is, Kala is non-existant to the original form of creation. It is Kalaateeta or timeless. Time applies wherever and whenever there is a fusion of the Active and the Inert.

Now, if again some of you ask, what is the proof in the scriptures of what I say, I can only say that I as a soul-body entity is subject to time and no proof is needed if unless the person thinks otherwise.

  14.

hi please read my question again , I want some who has read all the puranas / vedas to answer my question - if yes / no - with a proof - if no I need explanation why not - if Narayana and hari - 2 males can give birth to ayyapan - y cant bro ans sis marry ????????????????

No !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Not possible.Well, most of them here have read them. You are just coming to the point offlate. No puranas or Vedas encourage such incest relationship. Now coming to your point, two males never gave birth to Ayyappa. Vishnu was in the form of Mohini. A female. No gay/lesbian relationship either is allowed in Puranas/Vedas.

The explanation for 'Why not?' is just simple. It needs to enjoy the support of a) Nature b) The surrounding environment c) The laws of the society.

Eventhough you negate point b & c, you can never negate the first point. Scientifically the gene mutation and blood samples deny a happy relationship which may result in a 1) Mentally weak child 2) Physically challanged child 3) Biological changes in the Womans body.

These incest relationships cannot be a part of any religion as per my knowledge coz such relationship spoil the fabric of any religion which boasts to uplift the society spiritually.

If you think that this is narrow-minded thinking, 'Yes' it is. Any religion has a boundry. To engage in such acts just mean that you become an athiest and not affiliate to any religion rather on digging the files of puranas/vedas to find any such incident and then boast that we havent crossed the religious barriers.

If you are still not convinced, read all Dharma Shastras, Vedas, Puranas, Shrutis and Smritis for yourself. If you find one, I will become your disciple.

  15.

hi everybody thank u for all these ...........but.................would some one really discuss on my original question - " have gods or demigods like indra etc., married their own sister?"...if some one has read all the puranas thoroughly can u answer this question with proof or example..please???????????/?:(

Dear Sahana, read the initial posts once again and you will get the answer. Please................................

  16. Faith is inbuilt. The rest in indoctrination. Faith in the words of Jesus Christ takes any individual beyond this material world. Faith cannot be induced. It is just the defeat of ones logical understanding about his religion which makes the individual think other sides. Prevalent orthodox practices (which have diminished to a large extent) in Hindu religion, the toughened stance on woman in the Muslims, the extent of pretence in Christianity may have induced some rational thinking people to look otherways.

All religions focus on the weakness of other religions when going on a Missionary of defeating the logics.

No conversions can ever be possible if a Christian stays to follow Jesus Christ, a Hindu follow his Scriptures rather than the Sampradayas, a Muslim/Buddhist/Jain/Sikh follow the teachings of their master rather on focussing, comparing their beliefs with other religions which may result in pretence, hatred, confusion and conversion.

  17. www.ramanuja.org

Most of your questions regarding Sri Ramanujacharya have been tried to address here.

I live in Bangalore. If you need a Sri Bhashya in English, i will try and fetch one for you. If you have an alternate language like Sanskrit,Tamil, Kannada, it would be more better. let me know if you have an alternate incase the English version is unavailable

  18.

No, not at all. It just means the brain is losing it capability to capture and/or transmit the thoughts from the mind.

Something like you have two radios in the same room. One that works fine while the other transmits mostly static. The radio waves that is being picked by both is the same. One picks up and transmits the signal clearly but the that is not working well cannot. If you can repair that broken radio it will then be able to pick up and transmit the radio signal clearly again proving the problem was in the receiver and not the signal that was being sent from the station.

An impromptu allegory but you get the idea.

That was beautifully explained. Its what the researchs by Madam Blavitsky meant to say.

Besides people can remember impressions and details from past lives so if you accept reincarnation you must accept also that the mind predates any particular brain you may come to use. Predates physical birth and death also.

Yeah, and its also said that these are thought globules in space where the particular individual can only access. They have also tried to explain re-incarnation where these thought globules are so strong that they follow the individual even after death. If the brain is trained to recieve these frequencies of the past, you can able to trace all your incarnations.

They have also tried to explain that when the attachment with mind is detached consciously, mind can be killed. To reach the next level, one must pierce this thought globule. But since we do not have an inbuilt tool, we get stuck in the mind waves. When in the case of people able to read other persons thoughts, the conscience of that person is brought in tune with that of the other and read his thought globule and mend his problems or go though his incarnations. Who knows what is real? But very interesting stuff unless you and I experience it.

  19.

    Nope.

Sorry srikanth but you also missed it. Liberation is not the goal of sadhana-bhakti, although of course all practioners desire freedom from birth and death in the beginning. Lord Caitanya prayed for unending devotional service birth after birth. Service to Krishna is the goal not liberation. Which is another way of Suddha-bhakti is the goal of sadhana-bhakti. To such a person liberation is already present but he doesn't really even notice it because he is absorbed in Loving Krishna i.e. Bhakti.

Dear Theist, I didnt miss a point. Thats the reason why I putforth my standpoint. I do agree that Bhakti is indeed a clensing act. The saints like Mira,Gora,Gosai Tulsidas, etc is indeed difficult to compahend for a rational mind. On this forum itself I see ppl like Bija with extreme devotion towards his ishtadeva. It is quite emotional. Superb and thrilling coz you arent doing anything for personal gain. The bhakta is taken to a different level by identifying himself lesser and lesser with his physical being and gains siddhi/perform miracles.

Now, the yogis on the other hand gains it through meditation and practice called Sadhana. The Gnanis gain it by understanding the Brahman concept and knowing what/where is he and the world. When I use the word 'gain it', I am not pointing towards the siddhis but the level/platform to which all these paths lead are one and the same.

When the Astral senses began working on this platform, the Ishtadeva is materialsed to a Bhakta. He is contempt there and doesnt try and go any further, where as for the Gnanis and yogis have the tool to move further. Thats the point differance I was trying to make. A yogis Siddhis or a Gnanis Gnana also will not be of any use onto liberation. He has to leave all identifications to move to the Causal State higher and higher.

A Vaisnava will never accept sayuja. It is hell to them.

He misses the thrill he gets in Sayujya. Thats the sole reason. This means he is clung onto thrilling experiences with his Ishtadeva. Not only Vaishnava. Any ecstatic Bhakta.

Until this point is grasped we have no idea what Vaisnavism is.

And until the aforesaid points are grasped, we have no idea what Advaita is.

Also why the constant need to thrown stones at Iskcon members?

There is a saying in Hindi 'Eent ke Jawab Patthar Se'. You can yourself search the whole forum and know who has collected how many stones thrown at them.

On the other hand I am also aware of pious devotional lifestyle of the rank and file devotee in Iskcon. Matching my daily life and their daily lives one quickly sees what's what.

It is about 10:00am as I write this. I have not chanted one round on my mala whereas the devotees in the iskcon temple down the street have been up since 3:30 chanting japa, offering puja, dressing the Deities, cleaning the temple and have long since finished a group Bhagavatam class.

I am a clump of dirt compared to them. I don't have much good to say about the leadership but there is so much more to Iskcon then them.

Why do you reduce yourself to a clump of dirt. Your responsibilities has limited you to be what you are. An inmate of any temple is just following the rules. Have you asked the Iskonites what happens to them if they sleep till 7.00am one day? You are lucky. Can anyone do any of your duties at the times you do? No. Only you can do it. Thats the reason why our scriptures teach us to live like a leader and not as a follower. Lead yourself. The rest will flow and follow.
