  1. Haribol !!

It's me again with my Tulasi care problems...

This year i've planted a Tulasi devi and it's growing nicely since June. I live in Bordeaux, France andi use grow lights. The weather was quite good and sunny until a few weeks before.

Now it's getting cold and i put her in my baby daughter room in the day, with the electric radiator on up to 24-28 ° C. But i have now a problem with small insects eating her leaves. Yesteday i bathed her with soap according to the Tulasi handbook method.

I took a leaf to the local growshop, and the guy told me she's attacted by dust mites, but i saw also bigger insects, like spiders or mites i don't really know.

He adviced me to spray Her with neem oil diluted in water once a week. I just did. But he also told me i should put her in a colder atmosphere, like around 17-20 ° C all the time to prevent these dust mites to proliferate. I'm afraid it would be really dangerous for Tulasi to be at such temperature.

Any good advice ?? thanks !!

  2. Haribol !!

This year in June i planted a Tulasi seed and it's growing nicely since. Some little manjaris are appearing at the very top of Her.

I've read you're supposed to cut them because otherwise they take too much energy from Tulasi Devi.

Should i cut them now, while they're still little and even if they're at the top of Her or should i wait ?

Also, i have this solar spectrum light that i use when there is no sun (i live in South-west of France and the winter is coming) but this light make no heat, just solar light. What is the good temperature for her to keep a good normal health (and not just surviving) I can put her in the room of my daughter with an electric radiator because we don't heat the whole house when we're not here.

Also, what is the standard of giving her water in the winter, one glass every 3 days ?...

I'm worried because last year i had another one but she left in the winter.

OKay, thank you in advance again :)

    Love

  3. I was wondering, does one (neophyte devotee like me) can send spiritual power through a glance.

My question is coming from the follwoing experience.Sometimes i talk with people and look at them in the eyes and then i mentally recite the Maha-mantra.

Do you think it can give them something ? Because it seems like it has some kind of effect when i do it...

Any evidence from scriptures will be greatly appreciated :)

    Much Love

  4.

I believe this to be a very important topic. Devotees have a chance to help their departed loved ones who may be in dire situations where there is no other hope than the "living" relative. We may not be able to save the world, but if we can help save a few loved ones, that is wonderful seva. It's also our duty.

Thanks for this. Very interesting. When you mention the date of the ancestor's passing, should this be calculated astrologically according to the Vedic calendar? That might be difficult for some of us to do.

Also, Sunanda prabhu, if you have any connections with devotees who travel to India for Karttika or Gaura Purnima, usually there are Maths that regularly do shraddha ceremonies for the pilgrims who request them. Last year I sent a photo of a departed relative along with a small donation for the priests who do the cooking preps and fire yajna to a disciple of Srila Narayana Maharaja and a ceremony was performed, then the photo placed into the Jamuna River. I'm guessing that devotees of other Math affiliations also have similar ceremonies. It does give one a little peace of mind to have this done for one's loved ones. The devotee who arranged this for me said she had the ceremony performed for her Dad the previous year and some very mystical things took place, feeling the presence of her Dad. Other participants at the yajna also experienced mystical occurrences with regard to the forefathers they were benefitting.

    Thanx Prabhuji :)

I'm also a disciple of Srila Narayana Maharaja ! nice to meet you :)

  5. Haribol,

my aunt passed away last year, and i'd like to know if it is good to do something for her with a photo. I mean, is this important to do it on her 1 year anniversary ? i'm thinking about offering incence and food to my deities and then to her in front of the photograph and the Shanti mantra. I did this 11 days after her passing last year. Also i planted some mint seeds in her name to cook for Krsna, but the plant died as i was living in an appartment. Now i have a little garden, do you think i can do it again now ? She was a cyco and suffered a lot in her last human life.

It is also strange, because my daughter was born the day before. Seems like her birth gave liberation to my aunt. Any experience, sharing could be nice about that !

    Thanks

  7. For sure there is compassion from Krsna as you're chanting His name. Chanting is the most important.

I'm myself initiated as a brahmin and it happened that i broke the regulative principles. Then what ? i fall down and i try to go ahead. I keep on my practice, with irregularities but that is life.

We should never get discouraged, because it could stop our practice, when practice is the most important...

Good luck on the path :)

  8. Haribol,

I'm interested in learning more about the science of omens, nimitta.

For a few years, it seems like i am sensible to that and i'd like to know how i could devellop this gift.

I checked on the internet but i can't find something that answer my questions.

Is there any Nimitta astrologer that i could be in contact with to learn how to develop that gift ?

    Thank you.

    Sunanda

  9. Haribol,

I have a quick question for astrologers here:

I want to quit my job in a office next spring to work as a freelance celebrity photographer for a photo agency i'm in contact with.

This is a job where you can earn a lot of money but nothing is guaranteed as it is freelance. It need that i go away from the house for about 3 months next year. I'm really excited about doing this job but i fear failure.

I'd like to know if i will succeed in this.

    My details:

I'm mister Sunanda dasa, born on July 24th, 1975 at 3.05 pm in Dijon, France

    Thank you all in advance.

    LOVE

    From Purebhakti.com

    Rules for Fasting and Miscellania

    Standard for Ekadasi Break-fasts

If you have observed a complete fast (without even water) you do not need to break it with grains. You can break it with caranamrita or fruit. But if you have observed Ekadasi by eating fruit, vegetables, etc., then it should be broken on the following day by taking grains at the times mentioned herein.

    Maha-dvadasi is observed like Ekadasi.

    Ekadasi

The essence is to eat simply, once or twice, so that one can spend as much time as possible hearing, chanting and remembering Sri Sri Radha-Krsna. Never eat meat, fish, eggs, onions, garlic, carrots, red lentils (masur dahl), green flat lentils, mushrooms or products thereof.

    • Restricted foods on Ekadasi:
    • Tomatoes, eggplants, cauliflower, broccoli, bell peppers, beets, bitter melon (karela), loki, parmal, toroi, kunli, drumsticks, bindi (ladies' fingers) and banana flowers
    • Peas, chickpeas and all types of beans, including products made from beans (e.g., papadams, tofu, tempeh)
    • All leafy vegetables (e.g., spinach, salads, cabbages) and leafy herbs like parsley, coriander leaves, celery and curry leaves
    • Grains (e.g., millet, barley, farina, pasta, rice, corn) and all types of flour made from grains and beans (e.g., rice flour, chickpea flour, urad dahl flour)
    • Starches from corn or grains, and products made from or mixed with these starches like baking soda, baking powder, certain soft drinks with corn syrup, custard, certain yoghurts and puddings, certain varieties of cream and cottage cheese, certain sweets and candies, and tapioca balls
    • Oils made from grains (e.g., corn oil, mustard oil, sesame oil) and products fried in these oils (e.g., fried nuts, potato chips and other fried snack foods)
    • Honey, and sweets made with starches
    • Spices used on Ekadasi: black pepper, fresh ginger, pure salt and fresh turmeric, all taken from a new and clean package
    • Spices not used on Ekadasi: hing (asafetida), sesame seeds, cumin, fenugreek, mustard, tamarind, fennel, cardamom and nutmeg
    • Foods that can be taken all days of the year, including Ekadasi and Caturmasya:
    • All fruits (fresh and dried), all nuts and all oils made from nuts
    • Potatoes, pumpkin, cucumber, radish, squash, lemon, avocado, olives, coconut, buckwheat, all sugars
    • All pure milk products (except yoghurt during the 2nd month of Caturmasya and milk during the 3rd month)
    • For sannyasis, brahmacaris and vanaprasthas: shaving head and cutting nails is to be done on full moon days

    Caturmasya

    • Restricted foods during the entire four months of Caturmasya:
    • Eggplants, tomatoes, loki, parmal, urad dahl and honey
    • Particular foods that are restricted during each of the four months:
    • First month: No leafy vegetables, such as spinach, salads of all types, cabbages of all types, kale, leafy herbs like coriander, mint, parsley, curry and powdered leafy herbs and teas
    • Second month: No yoghurt (if one requires it for health, it can be mixed with water)
    • Third month: No milk (if required, it can be mixed with a drop of lemon juice)
    • Fourth month: No mustard oil or sesame seeds

    Purusottama Masa

    • Restricted foods during the month of Purussottama:
    • Eggplants, tomatoes, loki, parmal, urad dahl, honey, mustard oil or sesame seeds
    • No shaving for brahmacaris and sannyasis

  11. Thank you all for your answers.

I'm praying Sri Guru and Krsna to please protect my Tulasi Maharani. She getting full spectrum light 24/24 for one week now and i gave her organic fertilizers. I'm looking for this Miracle Gro product that someone kindly adviced me and i will probably try.

What is funny is that i bought the lamp and the product in grow shop, the lamp was 100 euros and the product was 6. I said the guy: "well, i take the lamp and this product" he replied:"Actually this one is better and only 2 euros more (so 8 euros)"

I said ok as i understood it was a positive omen because it brought the amount to 108 euros !

On a more scientific level, Tulasi is half dry but i have hope she'll get better. Small sprouts are coming of the earth, bringing new Tulasi maharanis here and i carefully put them in another pot.

I think i cannot cut the dry branches, because it is an offence and causes her great pain, is that true ?

  12. Haribol,

i've asked some questions about Tulasi care recently.

As i live in Bordeaux, France, the winter is coming and there is almost no sunlight. I've both some grow lights, full spectrum and Tulasi is getting light non-stop until 2 days.

As the leaves are getting really dry, the ones that as still green seem to be about to fall, sadly hanging from the branchs. I don't know if i should water her or not. The soil is a little wet. I think i watered her too much, giving her 2 glasses of water 2 times in a week. She about 40 centimeters high.

So how to know if she need water or if i should wait ? i've both some organic fertilizer that you mix with 1 liter of water but i dn't know if i should use it or not yet.

    Any advice ?

    thank you in advance

    Sunanda
